Chapter 81: Marrying You is My Greatest Blessing

Chapter 81: Marrying You is My Greatest Blessing

As soon as the car drove out of the military family compound, Yun Tangyin was shaken by the bumps. Fu Yucheng quickly reached out and pulled her into his arms: "Hold on tight, the road ahead is not easy to go."

"Yeah." Yun Tangyin snuggled into his arms, her nose rubbing against the fabric of his military uniform, which carried a faint scent of soapberry and sunshine.

She suddenly remembered something and took out an oil-paper package from her bag. She opened it and found two plump tea eggs. "Here, you said you wanted to eat them yesterday."

Fu Yucheng took a big bite. Yun Tangyin reached out to wipe the crumbs from the corner of his mouth. Her fingertips accidentally touched his chin, and the stubble pricked her fingertips, making them itchy.

He suddenly grabbed her hand, brought it to his lips, and gently bit her fingertips: "It smells better than tea eggs."

Yun Tangyin's face flushed red, and she pulled her hand back and twisted his arm: "You are so frivolous, we are in the car."

"Don't worry, I'm here."

He took out a small cloth bag from his arms and handed it to Yun Tangyin, "This is for you."

Inside the cloth bag was a silver hairpin with a small plum blossom carved on the head, which shone softly in the sunlight.

Yun Tangyin took it in her hand and rubbed it gently with her fingertips: "It's really beautiful. When did you buy it?"

"Last time I went to the county town for a meeting, I saw it on the counter of the supply and marketing cooperative. I thought it would be perfect for you." Fu Yucheng looked at her, his eyes warmer than the sun. "Should I put it on you?"

Yun Tangyin nodded and turned her head.

His fingertips gently parted her hair, and when the silver hairpin passed through her bun, it accidentally touched her earlobe. She shrank her neck, causing him to chuckle: "Are you ticklish?"

"No." Yun Tangyin said stubbornly, but her ears were red.

After driving for about two hours, we saw an apricot grove on the side of the road, with pink and white petals scattered all over the ground.

Fu Yucheng stopped the car: "Come down and take a rest?"

The two of them sat in the apricot forest. Yun Tangyin leaned on his shoulder and looked at the green mountains in the distance. "I didn't expect the sky in the Northeast to be so beautiful."

"I'll take you to see the maple leaves in autumn. They're even more beautiful than this." Fu Yucheng took out a water bottle from his bag and fed her a sip. "Are you thirsty?"

"A little." Yun Tangyin had just handed the kettle back when he put his mouth on the spot where she had just drunk. Her cheeks immediately burned, "You..."

"Your water is sweet." Fu Yucheng smiled like a child who had stolen candy. Suddenly, like a magic trick, he pulled out a bunch of wild flowers from behind him. The flowers were blue, purple, and yellow, and the combination was particularly lively. "This is for you."

Yun Tangyin took it and put it in her bun. Fu Yucheng looked at her with eyes so gentle that they could drip water: "My wife is getting more and more beautiful."

"You're so talkative." Yun Tangyin said angrily, but the corners of her mouth were curved like crescent moons.

After a good rest, we continued on our journey and finally arrived at the Songhua River in the evening.

There was a small hut by the river for fishermen to rest. Fu Yucheng had already made arrangements with Lao Zhang. The house was clean and tidy, and a new mattress was placed on the kang.

Lao Zhang came in with a basin of freshly stewed fish, and the aroma instantly filled the hut: "Try something fresh, freshly caught Kaijiang fish."

The fish was stewed until it was milky white and sprinkled with emerald green onions. Yun Tangyin took a piece with chopsticks and was so tender that she almost swallowed her tongue: "It's delicious!"

Fu Yucheng picked out a piece of boneless fish for her and put it in her bowl: "Eat slowly, no one will snatch it from you."

He turned to Lao Zhang and said, "Brother Zhang's cooking skills are getting better and better."

"Of course, you don't even notice whose wife is here." Old Zhang smiled until his eyes narrowed into slits. "I won't bother you two. I'll come and ask you to go fishing tomorrow morning."

There were only the two of them left in the room. When Fu Yucheng was cleaning up the dishes, Yun Tangyin came over to help. He pushed her to sit on the edge of the kang and said, "Sit down. I'll do it."

While he was washing dishes, Yun Tangyin hugged his waist from behind, pressed her cheek against his back, and listened to his strong heartbeat.

He turned around and hugged her in his arms: "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just think this is pretty good." Yun Tangyin looked up at him. The moonlight shone in through the window lattice and fell on his face, softening his sharp features. "Fu Yucheng, thank you."

"Thank me for what?"

"Thank you..." Yun Tangyin thought for a moment, "Thank you for marrying me."

Fu Yucheng chuckled and lowered his head to kiss her forehead: "I should be the one to say thank you. Being able to marry you is the greatest blessing in my life."

The next morning, Lao Zhang came to ask them to go fishing.

Fu Yucheng found a small stool for Yun Tangyin, moved a stone and sat next to her, helping her put the bait on the hook: "Be careful, don't get your hand caught on the hook."

"I know." Yun Tangyin threw down the fishing rod, sat there motionless, his eyes fixed on the float on the water.

Yu Cheng looked at her serious expression and couldn't help but smile. He quietly moved his fishing rod towards her and said, "If you can't catch any fish, I'll give you two."

"No, I can catch it myself." Yun Tangyin had just finished speaking when the float suddenly sank. She quickly lifted the rod and a palm-sized crucian carp was caught, jumping on the shore. "Look! I caught it!"

Fu Yucheng helped her put the fish into the fish basket and ruffled her hair: "Great, my wife is amazing."

The two of them fished for the whole morning, and the basket was full of fish. Fu Yucheng picked the biggest one and said to Lao Zhang, "Brother Zhang, let's stew this for lunch."

At lunch, Lao Zhang brought out a large pot of stewed fish and some corn tortillas stuck to the edge of the pot.

Yun Tangyin was chewing on a pancake when she suddenly remembered something: "Oh, by the way, you said last time you would teach me how to shoot a gun. When will you teach me?"

"I'll teach you when we get back." Fu Yucheng gave her a piece of fish belly. "But we have to make it clear first, you're not allowed to hit me."

"Who wants to hit you?" Yun Tangyin rolled her eyes at him. "I just want to learn how to protect myself."

"With me here, you don't need to protect yourself." Fu Yucheng held her hand, his eyes extremely serious, "I will protect you for the rest of your life."

Yun Tangyin's heart skipped a beat. She lowered her head and ate the rice in her bowl, her voice as soft as a mosquito's hum: "Who wants you to protect me for the rest of my life..."

Having said that, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up.

In the evening, the two sat by the river and watched the sunset. The setting sun dyed the river surface golden red, and the shimmering waves looked like gold scattered all over the ground.

Fu Yucheng hugged her from behind, resting his chin on the top of her head: "Yinyin, let's have a baby."

Yun Tangyin's body stiffened and she didn't say anything.

He added, "Let's teach someone with eyes as big as yours and as strong as me how to fish, how to shoot, and how to be a good person."

"Who wants to have a baby with you?" Yun Tangyin turned around, her cheeks flushed. "I haven't had enough of our two-person world yet."

"That's perfect. Let's live in a world of two first, and then a world of three." Fu Yucheng smiled and hugged her tighter. "Anyway, I'm going to rely on you for the rest of my life."

The sun gradually sets and stars emerge one by one.

Yun Tangyin leaned in Fu Yucheng's arms, listening to the sound of the river, and felt at ease.

She knew that no matter how many storms the future held, as long as she had this man by her side, she would not be afraid of anything.

Because he is her husband, her support, and the warmest light in her life for the rest of her life.
