Chapter 91 We Got the Marriage Certificate! (1/2)

Yan Yu clutched the thin piece of paper, his heart pounding with excitement.

He took long, hurried steps, almost running home.

"Squeak—"

He pushed the courtyard gate open.

Ruan Tang had just finished the last sip of porridge and was slowly wiping her mouth with a handkerchief. Her satisfied little face looked just like a kitten that had successfully stolen a bite.

The moment she looked up and saw him, without even asking if things were going well, her bright almond-shaped eyes curved into a pair of beautiful little crescents.

She stood up.

The two seemed to be connected by an invisible thread, understanding each other's thoughts with just a glance.

No one said a word more, and they all went back to their rooms to change into the new clothes that had been prepared in advance.

Ruan Tang wore a sky-blue dress, the fabric of which made her fair skin appear even whiter, almost dazzlingly so in the morning light.

Her waist was cinched extremely thin, and when the wind blew, the hem of her skirt swayed gently, making her look incredibly delicate and beautiful.

Yan Yu changed into a brand new white shirt, crisp black polyester trousers, and clean work shoes.

The simple black and white color scheme accentuated his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs, making him appear even more upright and giving him a clean and handsome look.

His eyes seemed to be permanently attached to his little girl, impossible to remove.

The man is handsome, and the woman is pretty.

The two walked out of the courtyard hand in hand, causing the villagers who were carrying hoes to go to work to almost break their necks.

In those eyes, there was amazement, inquiry, and a hint of self-assurance, forcibly inserted by mental power: "Oh, I see."

Yan Yu did not take the rough, uneven main road in the village.

He led the little girl by the hand and, familiar with the way, turned into the quiet grove behind the village.

The tall tree shadows fell, instantly blocking everyone's view.

The next second, he stretched out his long arm and pulled the person tightly into his arms.

"ah!"

Ruan Tang shrank her neck because of the itch, and before she could react, she was tightly enveloped by a familiar force.

The world before my eyes instantly transformed into distorted light and shadow.

She couldn't hear anything except the steady yet erratic "thump, thump, thump" of the man's heartbeat pressed against her ear.

Each sound was louder than the last.

Each sound was hotter than the last.

In just a few breaths, he found solid ground beneath his feet.

They had already appeared silently in a narrow alley near the commune.

Inside the marriage registration office, a middle-aged clerk was dozing off at his desk, looking utterly dejected.

Yan Yu's spiritual power spread out silently, like mercury spilling onto the ground.

The clerk suddenly jolted awake, looked up and saw the two of them. His half-asleep, triangular eyes widened instantly, and the wrinkles on his face stretched into a rotten chrysanthemum as he smiled.

He was so enthusiastic he almost tripped over himself, pouring water and offering his seat, his attentiveness was excessive.

He took the letter of introduction and the household registration booklet, glanced at them and that was it. He then picked up a pen and wrote their names in a flamboyant style on a red paper printed with five-pointed stars and ears of wheat.

Pick up that heavy steel stamp, aim it at the name, and stamp it down.

"Smack!"

A crisp sound rang out clearly in the quiet room.

It seems that something has finally settled down.

It's done.

The two of them, clutching their marriage certificate which still smelled of ink, walked out of the registration office side by side.

As soon as they stepped out of the commune gate, Yan Yu took both certificates from Ruan Tang.
