In just a few minutes, the jade stone, which was the size of a washbasin, shrank to the size of a palm, a thin layer, and lay quietly at the bottom of the pit.
The jade was warm and translucent, with extremely complex array patterns carved on it, emitting faint energy fluctuations.
"belch--"
Little White let out a burp, and its white fur became shiny.
It wobbled and jumped into Ruan Tang's arms, found a comfortable position, tilted its head, and fell asleep.
Ruan Tang put it into her spirit beast pouch, squatted down, and then realized something was wrong.
The jade's energy was drained, and the energy fluctuations in this place completely changed.
The violent suction force, though not completely gone, was so weak it was almost imperceptible.
"Oh no..." Ruan Tang frowned. "The people who set up the formation and those who want to break it will probably realize something is wrong very soon."
No sooner had she finished speaking than a large hand scooped her up from the ground and pulled her into a warm embrace.
Yan Yu's tall figure blocked all the mountain winds.
He glanced at the jade at the bottom of the pit, his voice devoid of emotion, yet carrying a bloody undertone.
"Then let them come."
A cold smile curved his lips.
"If they dare to set their sights on our doorstep, we'll make sure they never leave."
Ruan Tang's heart trembled at his domineering attitude.
She believed he could do it.
Cultivating immortality means living a long life, not fighting fiercely.
A head-on confrontation would be too disadvantageous!
"no!"
Without a second thought, Ruan Tang shook her head, her two small hands gripping his shirt tightly, her face upturned, her almond-shaped eyes full of pleading.
"Brother, listen to me," she said urgently, "This is quite a big operation, and the person behind it must be someone powerful. We're in the dark while they're in the light, which puts us at a huge disadvantage!"
"We won't destroy it, nor will we guard it..."
Her eyes darted around, a sly glint in them.
"Let's add something special to it!"
After saying that, she excitedly broke free from Yan Yu's embrace and, as if presenting a treasure, pulled out a handful of colorful talismans from her storage ring.
Look at this!
She picked up a concealment talisman and proudly waved it around. "Top-grade! Stick it on, and no matter what gods or ghosts are around, they won't be able to detect the energy fluctuations here!"
He picked up another one.
"The Reversal of the Five Elements Talisman! It can disguise the vitality here as a sinister death aura, scaring away the timid!"
Finally, she held up a dazzling, intricate talisman, her eyes crinkling with a mischievous glint like a little fox's.
"And this! My newly researched miniature illusion array!"
"If anyone tries to touch me, I'll make them spin around in circles right here. They can see me, but they can't touch me. I'll drive them crazy!"
As Yan Yu watched the little girl beam with delight and praising him, the fierceness in his eyes vanished, replaced by boundless indulgence and undisguised pride.
His little girl is both smart and capable.
That's far superior to his methods that only involve physical force.
He reached out his large hand and ruffled her soft hair, his voice deep and chuckled: "Okay, whatever you say."
Ruan Tang immediately directed the puppet Afu and the scriptures to fill the pit with the black fragments and carefully cover the jade array.
Then, she jumped into the pit herself and pasted the talismans in specific positions.
Finally, she solemnly placed the "miniature maze array talisman" gently on the hole that Little White had gnawed out.
The talisman flashed with a faint light and disappeared into the earth and stones.
The entire pit instantly returned to deathly silence, as if nothing had ever happened.
However, an inexplicable, eerie chill had filled the air, sending shivers down one's spine. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
