"Um."
Ruan Tang responded, feeling a sweet, tingling sensation in her heart.
The two entered the house hand in hand.
The aroma of the food wafted over.
On the table was a bowl of glistening braised pork, a plate of stir-fried wild vegetables, and two bowls of steaming white rice.
Yan Yu pulled her to the basin, helped her wash her hands, handed her chopsticks, and then sat down opposite her.
During the meal, his eyes never left her.
Just as Ruan Tang finished eating a piece of meat in her bowl, another piece of meat with alternating layers of fat and lean meat fell into her bowl.
She looked up and met his focused gaze.
While eating, Ruan Tang told him about what happened on the back mountain that day, from Lin Xiangnan's troubles to the matter of the educated youth settlement, and finally mentioned the cowshed on the west side of Zui Village.
"...Xiang Nan said they're building a house over there, and I wonder who's coming." She bit the tip of her chopsticks, blinking curiously.
After she finished speaking, Yan Yu slowly opened his mouth, his tone resolute.
"Yes, a group of people are coming."
Ruan Tangxing's eyes widened in surprise: "Brother, how did you know?"
Yan Yu placed another piece of meat on her plate, his voice flat and emotionless.
"I heard some rumors."
He paused, then added a sentence.
"It has nothing to do with us, we don't need to worry about it."
His meaning was clear: no matter how strong the wind and rain were outside, they couldn't blow into their little courtyard.
After the meal, Yan Yu neatly cleared away the dishes.
After eating her fill, Ruan Tang felt sleepy. She lay on the kang (a heated brick bed) covered with a straw mat, her eyelids drooping, and lazily prepared to take a nap.
The room was quiet, with only the chirping of cicadas outside the window, which made people feel even lazier.
Just as she was drifting off to sleep, a shadow fell.
Yan Yu had walked to the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) at some point, his tall figure blocking out the light.
Ruan Tang opened her eyes groggily and was immediately met with his unfathomable gaze.
He bent down.
He placed one hand on the kang mat next to her cheek, encircling her between himself and the wall, forming an impenetrable territory.
With her other hand, that large hand with distinct knuckles and thin calluses, she gently lifted her chin.
He pressed his fingertips against her incredibly soft lips.
He slowly, with a strong sense of possessiveness, caressed it again and again.
The movement was very light, yet it triggered a tingling electric current that exploded from the lips and instantly spread throughout the body.
Ruan Tang shuddered, and half of her sleepiness vanished instantly.
His voice, deliberately low and hoarse, brushed against my eardrums, making my heart tremble.
"Tangtang".
He called her name, his hot breath spraying all over her face, carrying his unique, domineering scent.
Are you sleepy?
His fingertips lingered on her lips, gently rubbing them, as if trying to infuse the sweetness of her lips into his fingertips.
"Then take a nap."
He paused, his voice even hoarser, and he spoke almost touching her lips.
"Once you wake up, we'll continue... what we didn't finish on our wedding night."
Ruan Tang's face flushed red instantly. She was both embarrassed and annoyed by his teasing. She slapped his hand away and turned her back to him abruptly.
"Who...who wants to continue with you..."
The voice was so soft it was like a mosquito's hum, lacking any confidence.
Yan Yu pulled the little girl, along with the thin blanket, into his arms from behind and held her tightly.
His deep laughter resonated in his chest, traveling through her back and throughout her entire body.
Even the little girl in his arms trembled slightly.
The man rested his chin on the top of her head, his voice cheerful and light.
"Okay, let's not continue."
"Tangtang, let's take a nap together." (This chapter has been finished. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
