She looked at Yan Yu, her eyes shining brightly. "You mean, Shen Yishan, Jin Yuhong, and that Gu Jinzhou, they're all in Jilin Province, and they all happened to bring jade pendants with them. Isn't that too much of a coincidence?"
She stretched out her fair, delicate fingers and tapped on the five jade pendants on the kang (a heated brick bed). "I always feel like there's a hand behind me pushing them this way. This is definitely not a coincidence!"
Yan Yu's eyes instantly turned dark and unfathomable.
Of course he had thought of that too.
Too many coincidences mean they are not coincidences, but premeditated.
He said in a deep voice, "The organization behind Jia Ximei has probably already figured out the whereabouts and owners of these jade pendants. They lured Shen Yishan to Jilin Province, perhaps to make it easier to wipe them all out in one fell swoop. After all, it's much more troublesome to take action in a place like Beijing than in this remote countryside."
His analysis was ruthless and precise, hitting the nail on the head.
Ruan Tang felt a chill creep up her spine and back, causing her to shiver involuntarily.
She could easily imagine that an invisible net had already been cast, and Shen Yishan and her group were fish being lured into it step by step.
She suddenly remembered the cave again.
"Brother, aren't there many marks on the floor of that cave where large boxes have been placed for years?" Ruan Tang's mind raced. "Do you think it's possible that those marks weren't from moving things away, but rather from moving things inside?"
The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed. "They used the so-called 'gold and silver treasures' as bait, hiding them in a secret chamber in the cave, and then spread the word to lure the holders, or rather, the guardians, of the jade pendants into their trap with the 'keys'!"
Yan Yu nodded, a hint of approval flashing in his deep black eyes.
His little girl is quick-witted.
But the fog in Ruan Tang's heart thickened even more.
She was certain that the original owner of this body had already died when she transmigrated. Whether in her past life or this one, the delicate young lady of the Ruan family would never have willingly come to this icy and snowy Northeast.
My choice of Kyrgyzstan was entirely guided by the strong sapling in my lower abdomen.
Ruomu came because it sensed that this place contained the "nourishment" it needed to grow—the power of time and space.
This creates a new contradiction.
If the enemy agents' ultimate goal is to collect all the keys to open the secret room, then the room contains immeasurable treasure. It's just unknown whether the power of time and space existed from the beginning, or whether it appeared after the treasure was inside.
What else is hidden behind this?
Ruan Tang's head was throbbing from thinking so much that she simply shook off all these chaotic thoughts and leaned back against Yan Yu's firm chest, finding the most comfortable position to curl up in.
She sniffed around in his arms, inhaling his comforting, clean, and refreshing scent, and her agitation gradually subsided.
Everything makes sense now.
The Ruan family, the Shen family, the Gu family, the Jin family... they are all pawns.
She herself, because of Ruomu, also became a part of the situation.
A curiosity that she had deliberately ignored, yet which had always lingered in her heart, surfaced without warning.
She tilted her head back, her clear almond-shaped eyes fixed on Yan Yu's well-defined jawline, and asked in a soft, sweet voice:
"Brother, what about you?"
"Why did you choose to come to Jilin Province to work in the countryside?" (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
