Nestled in its little master's soft embrace, Little White instantly lost its temper, nuzzling contentedly and making a gurgling sound of enjoyment. But its dark purple eyes still glanced warily at Yan Yu, like a little guard protecting its food.
Yan Yu watched as she held Xiaobai in her arms, with Daju following at her feet. This warm and vibrant scene completely dispelled the last trace of gloom in his heart.
He quickly washed himself clean, changed into clean clothes, and then took Xiaobai from Ruan Tang's hands with utmost naturalness.
"Go cook, you must be hungry."
After saying that, he picked up the still struggling Little White with one hand, followed by the bewildered Big Orange, and strode towards the backyard, obviously going to "lecture" him.
Ruan Tang smiled and shook her head, then turned and went into the kitchen.
...
On the other side, Yu Haoshen stumbled back to the educated youth settlement.
Sure enough, his brother's guess was exactly the same.
The courtyard and dormitory entrance were packed with people.
Male and female educated youth, every single one of them, were all there, eagerly waiting for him, as if welcoming a hero.
In a corner of the crowd, Yu Hao spotted An Sanchuan, who was pale-faced.
"Haozi! You little bastard, you finally came back!"
Duan Zhou was the first to jump out from the crowd and rush towards him in a Sichuan accent.
"Are you hurt? The gunshots sounded like firecrackers going off during Chinese New Year, my heart was in my throat!" he yelled as he reached out to pull at Yu Hao's clothes.
Yu Hao felt a warmth in his heart and smiled as he pushed him away, saying, "Go away, what could be wrong with me? I'm fine! I'm just exhausted."
Tao Yuming also stood in the crowd, looking at him gently, his concern evident in his eyes.
Surrounded by so many people, Yu Hao's lingering fear was quickly overshadowed by vanity and excitement.
He was boasting excitedly about his bravery, of course, making no mention of the embarrassing incident where he was almost disemboweled by a wild boar.
Just as he was getting hoarse from blowing, a sinister voice interrupted.
"It sounds like it's going to be quite lively. This time... didn't your brother go?"
It's An Sanchuan.
He emerged from the shadows, a sickly smile on his face.
As soon as he said that, the previously noisy room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Yu Hao's heart skipped a beat. Yan Yu's warning, "Speak less, do more," exploded in his mind like a thunderclap.
The smile on his face froze instantly.
The next second, he exploded like a cat whose tail had been stepped on!
His face flushed red, and he pointed at An Sanchuan's nose and yelled, "Why the hell are you bringing him up! Are you ever going to stop? You ask about him every day!"
"I'm done with him! That bastard, he forgot his brothers after getting married! Last time I knocked on his door, he wouldn't even open it! What a piece of trash!"
Yu Hao's performance was so sincere and moving; his eyes were red from shouting, his chest heaved violently, and his voice was trembling with sobs, as if he had suffered a great injustice.
After saying that, he shoved Duan Zhou, who was blocking his way, aside and ignored the astonished looks of the crowd, turned around and rushed out of the courtyard without looking back.
Everyone in the courtyard was stunned.
Duan Zhou scratched his head, looking completely bewildered: "What's wrong with him...? Did he take some kind of gunpowder?"
An Sanchuan stood there, his smile completely frozen.
He looked in the direction where Yu Hao had disappeared, and a fleeting look of annoyance and scrutiny at the disruption of his plans flashed quickly in his gloomy eyes.
The change happened so fast that most people didn't even notice.
But Tao Yuming saw it.
He observed An Sanchuan discreetly.
The instant Yu Hao uttered those words, he clearly saw a cold, snake-like light flash in An Sanchuan's eyes, hidden in the shadows.
Tao Yuming slowly lowered his eyes, concealing the knowing look in them.
really.
This Yu Hao is a bit smarter than he thought. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
