It's Shen Yishan.
Her face was as white as paper, and the knuckles of her fingers, which were gripping the hem of her clothes, were bluish-white.
On what grounds?
What can Ruan Tang do besides look like a vixen? How can this pampered young lady, who can't lift a finger, have such a good life!
She was also betrothed as a child, but Gu Jinzhou treated her with the coldness of ice, finding even a glance annoying.
Why is it that Yan Yu treats that good-for-nothing Ruan Tang like a treasure, and even holds such a grand wedding for her?!
She looked at Gu Jinzhou beside her with resentment, but he still looked like a cold, lifeless person, as if this matter had nothing to do with him.
Looking at Yan Yu, who was radiating joy, a sharp jealousy gnawed at her heart like a venomous snake.
Yan Yu seemed to have eyes in the back of his head, not even bothering to glance at him out of the corner of his eye.
But in the instant she turned to leave, an unnoticed mental imprint silently landed on Shen Yishan.
How dare he look at his wife like that?
It's best not to have any ulterior motives, otherwise, you'll let her experience what it means to regret it.
Yan Yu asked Ruan Tang for a day off and quickly finished his work in the morning.
When he got home, the little girl was sitting at the table, sipping the porridge he had kept warm. When she saw him come back, her eyes crinkled into a smile, like a cat that had just stolen some cream.
The two ate lunch quietly, and Yan Yu then coaxed her to take a nap.
Once Ruan Tang had fallen asleep again, Yan Yu started moving around in the courtyard.
He first walked to the gate of the neighboring courtyard and gently placed his palm on the door.
The dilapidated wooden door, along with its frame, turned into a pile of wood chips without making a sound.
With a wave of his hand, the stones on the ground flew up automatically, sealing the entrance perfectly and forming a brand new courtyard wall.
Then, he went into the room in the west courtyard where he used to live.
He stared at the earthen bed for a few seconds.
The next moment, the solid earthen bed seemed to be crushed by an invisible force, collapsing and shattering silently into a pile of dust.
From then on, apart from the master bedroom, there was no other kang (heated brick bed) in this large courtyard.
In the afternoon, Yan Yu busied himself with preparations for the wedding banquet that evening.
The pork and pheasant in the space, the big, fat fish jumping around in the pool behind the mountain, plus the fresh vegetables exchanged from the old Party Secretary's house, were quickly prepared.
As night fell, guests arrived one after another. Under Yan Yu's mental influence, none of them reacted to anything in the courtyard. After the wedding banquet, all they would remember was...
A table laden with glistening, hearty dishes—braised pork, spicy chicken, stewed fish—smells so good that the young boys' mouths water.
All night long, the laughter and the sounds of drinking games almost lifted the roof off.
Ruan Tang, protected by Yan Yu, simply blushed and played the role of a shy but lucky young wife, accepting the envious and well-intentioned teasing from her aunts.
"Oh my, our little Ruan is so lucky! Look how much Yan Zhiqing dotes on her!"
After seeing off the last group of guests, Yan Yu slammed the courtyard gate shut, completely shutting out the noise outside.
The room fell silent instantly.
The air was filled with the lingering aroma of food and a faint smell of alcohol, which became sticky and ambiguous under the dim light of the oil lamp.
Yan Yu turned around.
Under the lamplight, those dark eyes seemed to burn with two eerie flames, staring intently at the young girl who had just shed her shy facade not far away.
That look in his eyes was like that of a wild beast eyeing its prey, poised to pounce.
The air became scorching hot once again.
He walked towards her step by step.
The footsteps were light, yet each one struck a nerve, like a blow to Ruan Tang's heart. (This chapter has been completed. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
