Chapter 166 Thank You (2/2)

He just... made a small modification.

He blurred his miraculous feat of instantly killing the hungry wolf into the memories of everyone involved, turning it into a fantastical gunfight.

Fast, accurate, and ruthless.

It is the limit that a top-notch marksman can achieve, yet it is still within the realm of human comprehension.

He didn't want to go through all that trouble, but that educated youth named An Sanchuan was like an invisible thorn.

Rather than erasing the traces too cleanly and arousing suspicion, it's better to leave just this one "flaw".

A "heroic deed" that is a little too strong.

He was eager to see how the venomous snake lurking in the shadows would react upon smelling the blood.

………………………………

As night falls, the threshing ground is bustling with activity.

A large iron pot was set up, with a roaring fire burning underneath.

Large chunks of pork and offal, mixed with sauerkraut and blood sausage, simmered and bubbled in the pot, filling the entire village with an irresistible aroma that mingled with the appetizing scent of the sauerkraut.

Children ran wildly through the crowd, bowls in hand, while adults lined up in long queues, waiting to get their meat and vegetables.

All the people from the educated youth settlement also came.

Duan Zhou, holding two large enamel mugs in one hand and dragging Yu Hao along with the other, squeezed to the front of the crowd, his drool practically dripping down to his feet.

"My god, it smells amazing! Haozi, can you smell it? This smell is absolutely fantastic!"

Yu Hao's head was throbbing from the noise, but he couldn't help but sniff hard, and his stomach growled loudly.

Tao Yuming followed behind them, his gaze sweeping through the bustling crowd before finally settling on a corner.

An Sanchuan stood alone, out of place amidst the jubilation around him.

His face still wore that gloomy expression, but there was a hint of contemplation and confusion in his eyes.

Tao Yuming pushed up his glasses, a slight smile playing on his lips.

It seems Yan Yu has already begun making his plans.

Just as the threshing ground was filled with jubilation, an old but sturdy figure, carrying a large basket on his back, quietly left the crowd and turned into the alley leading to Yan Yu's house.

It was former Party Secretary Chen Zhangmin.

He walked to the entrance of the Yan family compound, raised his hand, and gently knocked on the door.

"Knock knock knock".

Inside the house, Ruan Tang was sitting on the kang (a heated brick bed), casually stroking the fur of the little white dog in her arms.

Hearing the knock on the door, she and Yan Yu exchanged a glance.

The little white dog in my arms instantly became alert, its silver-tipped ears snapped upright, its dark purple eyes fixed on the doorway, and it made a very low squeak sound in its throat.

Yan Yu got up to open the door.

The door creaked open, and Chen Zhangmin's wrinkled face appeared outside.

Fifth Uncle.

"Yes," Chen Zhangmin replied.

"Please come in and sit for a while." Yan Yu opened the courtyard gate, wanting Chen Zhangmin to come in and talk.

Chen Zhangmin simply waved his hand, took off the basket he was carrying, and put it inside the threshold. "The threshing ground is still busy. I'm just here on behalf of the brigade to bring you some things. After I deliver them, I can still have a hot meal when I get back."

Chen Zhangmin opened the lid on the basket, and a rich aroma of meat immediately filled the air.

He then first lifted out a heavy deer hind leg, bound with straw rope, and then carefully brought out a porcelain basin, about the size of a small washbasin, covered with a cotton cloth. (This chapter has been read. Please click to continue reading the next chapter!)
