Chapter 48 Xie Zhiyan Sees Shu Ying's Past Life in His Dream (2/2)

The bed in the guesthouse wasn't very big; it was just big enough for him to sleep alone.

Xie Zhiyan threw off the covers with one hand, and without even taking off his clothes, collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

He slept soundly that night and even had dreams.

In his dream, he saw Shu Ying and a little girl who was about three years old.

The little girl's eyes were very similar to Shu Ying's. She was thin and had little flesh on her body. The two of them were shivering from the cold in the cowshed in the countryside.

Shu Ying took off her own clothes and carefully covered the little girl with them.

"We won't be cold anymore once the rain stops outside, sweetheart, hang in there a little longer."

Shu Ying's voice was gentle yet powerful. The cowshed was not a place for people to live in, and their living space was very small.

It's raining heavily outside, and it's about to drizzle inside.

Near the wall, there was a single bed that barely supported the mother and daughter.

The blanket was even thinner, so Shu Ying wrapped the little girl around the bed and held her tightly.

The little girl was pale and looked like she didn't have much time left; her voice was like a kitten's.

"Mom, Dad and brother will definitely find us, right? But I'm so sleepy right now. When I wake up, will I be able to see Dad and brother?"

Shu Ying had completely lost the composure and calmness that Xie Zhiyan remembered.

She held the child tightly in her arms, rubbing the child's little hands together and breathing on them repeatedly, trying to give her more warmth.

"Yueyue, Mommy said that Daddy and your brother are waiting for us. You must be strong. You must not sleep now. Mommy promised you that when you get better, we will take you out to play. You still want to go to the river to catch fish and shrimp, right? When you get better, we will go to catch shrimp, okay?"

Seeing that the baby was barely breathing, Shu Ying completely embraced her small, thin body.

The little girl seemed to use all her strength to say every word.

"Mom, don't cry. I'll get better. I'll take my medicine obediently. I also want to help you weed."

They have a lot of work to do every day. It's very hard for her mother to take care of her all by herself. She can't stay sick like this all the time.

Shu Ying shook her head, two streams of tears streaming down her thin face: "Mom just wants you to be alright."

She possessed exceptional medical skills, but her child's pneumonia came on too quickly and damaged her health.

The medical conditions and environment here don't even offer them a way to survive.

It was pouring rain outside, and their blankets were already soaked.

Yueyue finally closed her eyes. Her body was burning hot, and Shuying held her in her arms like a fireball.

"Dad, brother..."

The little girl started talking nonsense unconsciously, and Shu Ying glanced helplessly at the rain outside.

The rain has been falling for several days and shows no sign of stopping.

But she couldn't wait any longer with the child in her arms, so she carried the child on her back and rushed out of the cowshed again, searching everywhere for help in the rain.

"Dr. Wang, my daughter is very ill. I beg you to open the door and take a look. I will never forget your kindness."

But no one answered the door.

The torrential rain fell on Shuying.

She had nowhere to turn for help and was rejected to the point of despair.

Finally, she collapsed to the ground, clutching her daughter tightly, and broke down in tears, her sorrowful eyes staring straight at her.

He called out the name she had kept hidden in her heart for a long time.

"Xie Zhiyan, where are you?"
