Chapter 132 The Man Who Burned the Letters (2/2)

Xie Wanying was indignant. Back when she first met Shu Ying, she had hinted to her that she should give her some gifts, but Shu Ying just wouldn't listen.

If Shuying had built a good relationship with her back then, she wouldn't be making things difficult for her now.

Xie Wanying sneered and opened a wooden box next to the dressing table. Inside were letters that Huang Meiling had written to her over the years.

Actually, at the beginning, Xie Zhiyan hadn't lost contact with them yet, and he would send letters home almost every month.

Xie Wanying's friend Qi Xiaozhen, whom she met at school, happened to be in charge of receiving and sending mail. Three years ago, Xie Zhiyan's letter was accidentally delivered to her.

She received three copies in total: one for her parents, one for herself, and the other for Shuying.

She first opened the letter that Xie Zhiyan had given her. He simply greeted her, but then every word he wrote expressed his hope that she would pay more attention to supporting Shu Ying's family. He also said that she had never suffered any hardship on her own, and since she had married him, she was now part of their family. He hoped that Xie Wanying would truly treat Shu Ying as a younger sister.

He kept reminding her of these things, but Xie Wanying felt very uncomfortable seeing them.

Even though the two of them were not in the same place, Shu Ying was always remembered by someone.

She couldn't bear it any longer, and she couldn't accept that there were people in this world who were doing better than her. Xie Wanying was so angry that she laughed when she saw these things, so she simply burned the letter that Xie Zhiyan had written to Shu Ying to let her know that he was safe.

After that, she specifically contacted Qi Xiaozhen, instructing her to deliver any letters Xie Zhiyan sent to her.

Over the years, both Xie Zhiyan's letters and the money sent back in the envelopes ended up with Xie Wanying. The previous things were put away, and the letters were burned.

But such days did not last long. The soldiers at the front were in dire need of supplies, and it was said that no more letters from home could be sent from the front. Xie Wanying indeed never received one again after that, and she felt a little regretful that she could not make more money.

But then she thought again that Xie Zhiyan's letters wouldn't reach her, so out of sight, out of mind.

"Xie Zhiyan, I really didn't expect you to be so lucky. Not only did you manage to come back alive from the battlefield, but you also managed to escape death on a burning train."

She pulled out a slip of paper from the bottom of the wooden box, which had the address left for her by Song Yongfu and his wife.

When they brought Song Zhaodi's photo, Song Yongfu specifically told her to keep in touch with her family often.

However, she has been terrified of that place for years, so she avoids that address.

But now, she has to write letters to the other side.

After finishing the letter, she grabbed a coat and went out to find Qi Xiaozhen.

Qi Xiaozhen looked at her with a puzzled expression. "That security guard said someone was looking for me. I wondered who it could be. It was just a letter. You could have just put it in your mailbox. You wrote the address clearly on it. Why did you have time to make a special appointment with me today?"

Xie Wanying solemnly handed the letter to her, saying, "This letter is very important to me. I will only feel at ease if you mail it yourself. Please keep an eye on it for me and let me know when you receive a reply."
