Qi Zecheng was speechless: "Go away, you can't reason with this blockhead. Sooner or later you'll fall for a woman."
Shu Ying was away for a short time. She found a hollow ceramic straw stick in her space, and then sanded it to make it into a straw cup similar to those in ancient times, so that she could easily feed Xie Zhiyan water.
"I only have one younger brother. He was perfectly fine when he left, but how did he come back like this? You fool, you treated him with all your heart, but he might not have appreciated it! Waaaaah!"
Just as Shu Ying was about to push open the door, she heard a soft, delicate voice coming from inside.
She recognized the voice; it belonged to Xie Zhiyan's older sister, Xie Wanying.
Shu Ying paused on the doorknob, surprised to find her there as well.
Shu Ying vaguely remembers that Xie Zhiyan's parents worked at the research base.
Xie Wanying used to work in a factory, so why is she in the army now?
Shu Ying gently pushed open the door and went in. Upon seeing who it was, Xie Wanying immediately squeezed out two tears, her face bearing a forced smile.
“Shuying, none of us wanted this to happen. Although Zhiyan had the accident while looking for you, I believe you didn’t do it on purpose. Your parents and I won’t blame you.”
Her words were clearly loaded with meaning, which made Shu Ying uncomfortable.
"I don't quite understand what you mean. What do you mean I didn't do it on purpose?"
Shu Ying chuckled lightly, her face showing little concern, but her words became more serious: "If people didn't know better, they would think I was the one who crashed the train. Although Xie Zhiyan's injury is indeed related to me, was it me who prevented him from going to the hospital for treatment? Was it me who made him come to us with his illness?"
Xie Wanying was speechless. She glanced to the side and said, "I... I didn't mean that. I just said that if Zhiyan hadn't been in such a hurry to find you, he wouldn't have run into this. Now the doctor says he won't wake up for a while, and as his older sister, I'm just worried."
Shu Ying closed the door, her face still displaying a polite smile, but her gaze had become even colder.
She didn't really like Xie Wanying to begin with, and their first meeting wasn't exactly harmonious.
Logically speaking, a child raised by highly educated individuals like Xie's parents should be as polite and well-mannered as Xie Zhiyan.
Xie Wanying always had a petty air about her; she couldn't stand seeing others do well, yet she always put on an air of superiority.
“If you’re really in a hurry, you should find a better doctor to treat him instead of making sarcastic remarks here. I think your so-called concern is just empty talk. Although I don’t know why you’re here, I can tell you that you can’t help at all.”
Qi Zecheng vaguely sensed the tension. They say three women make a drama, but two women were equally unwilling to give in to each other.
He looked at Shu Ying again; she had always been this unforgiving and argumentative since they met.
However, it's not appropriate for a grown man like him to intrude on a conversation between women.
Xie Wanying was almost in tears after being refuted by Shu Ying in just a few words.
She always liked to act coquettishly, and when she spoke, it was as if she had a piece of candy in her mouth: "Shuying, what do you mean by saying that? If it weren't for you, how could my brother have become like this? As your sister-in-law, I kindly advised you, but you turned around and bit me. You really are a daughter raised by capitalists. Not only do you not know how to be considerate of others, but you also always think that others have ulterior motives."
Her slender finger pointed at Xie Zhiyan, who was still lying on the hospital bed, and she questioned loudly, "You dare to say that my brother lying here has nothing to do with you? The doctor says he may not wake up for a while. How can I, as his older sister, not be worried? If he can only lie here forever, who will take responsibility for the rest of his life?"
