Chapter 422 (2/2)

Shu Ying smiled, stepped forward, shook hands with him, and exchanged a few pleasantries.

Jiang Yunzhou remained the same as always, his gaze towards Shu Ying always seemed to have something to say, but when Shu Ying actually looked at him, he would quickly look away.

The group chatted casually about recent events as they walked inside.

The conference room door opened, and Lu Chenyang and Liang Shuhan were already waiting inside. Upon seeing them, they politely stood up to greet them.

Before entering the conference room, Shu Ying and Xie Zhiyan turned their heads to look at their surroundings with a tacit and wary expression.

The security arrangements were quite good. The security personnel were divided into several teams and patrolled back and forth in the building. The team leaders were all familiar faces—Lu Weiquan, Zhang You, and Wu Zhengyi.

The three of them were on high alert, their eyes constantly scanning their surroundings as they walked, and they noticed almost nothing that might happen.

Shu Ying and Xie Zhiyan said nothing, looked away, and remained as usual.

When Director Liu Hui pushed the door open and came in, Lu Chenyang and Liang Shuhan had just finished explaining the situation to Shu Ying in a serious and earnest manner, and attached a document.

"Comrade Xiao Shu, you've arrived."

Director Liu greeted Shu Ying and the others politely as he entered.

Shu Ying smiled and nodded simply, then turned her attention back to the documents in her hands.

She carefully flipped through the document. Although it had a few missing parts, it did not hinder reading, and the content was basically coherent.

Shu Ying breathed a sigh of relief and began discussing the contents of the document with Liang Shuhan and Director Liu.

They discussed professional issues within the military factory. Xie Zhiyan, Ye Zhanying, and Qi Zecheng, not wanting to eavesdrop, waited patiently at the door.

The meeting room was directly opposite the stairwell. Xie Zhiyan leaned against the railing at the corner of the stairs and glanced down casually, just in time to see Lu Weiquan and Wu Zhengyi patrolling the floors below.

As Lu Weiquan walked, he suddenly realized something was wrong. He looked around curiously, frowned, and muttered to himself.

"Strange, where did Zhang You go again?"

Wu Zhengyi hadn't noticed before, but now that he realized Zhang You was gone, his expression changed immediately, and he quickly checked the situation.

"This Zhang You seems to prefer acting alone lately; he disappears without a trace in the blink of an eye."

"According to our plan and the usual pace, Zhang You should have arrived by now. Why haven't we seen a single person yet?"

Upon hearing this, Lu Weiquan suddenly sensed something was amiss, his expression instantly turning serious, and he immediately gave instructions to the people around him.

"Quickly, go find Xiao Zhang and see where he went."

"Forget it, you don't need to. I'll go find it myself. You few come with me, and the rest of you stay and continue patrolling!"

Lu Weiquan randomly pointed to a few people and hurried off to find them.

Wu Zhengyi waited in place for a while, but when no one returned, he continued his patrol as if nothing had happened.

At the same time, Li Heng, holding a folder, yawned as he came out of the document management room. He had just closed the door behind him and hadn't even taken out his key to lock it when he turned around and noticed that there seemed to be someone standing at the end of the corridor.

He squinted his sleepy eyes and looked over, when suddenly he saw a person standing at the end of the corridor.

Li Heng was startled and quickly wiped his glasses to take a closer look. He then realized it was someone he knew and immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"Oh, it's Wu Zhengyi. Still on patrol? You must be tired."

Wu Zhengyi's lips, which had been expressionless, twitched slightly.

"Of course."

After exchanging a few polite words, Li Heng was about to turn and leave when Wu Zhengyi paused for a moment and then continued.

"I still haven't found Xiao Zhang. I don't know where he went. I have to go look for him myself. Sigh."

Upon hearing this, Li Heng turned around again, frowned, and couldn't help but feel a little nervous.

"How could someone suddenly disappear...? Maybe they were tired or accidentally injured and went to get treatment?"

Li Heng clearly had little suspicion of this person he saw every day and continued chatting with him.

"However, I have recently had a feeling that there is a mole in the factory. I always have a vague feeling that something is not right. I don't know if I'm just being paranoid."

"In any case, it's always better to be careful. Better safe than sorry. You should be extra careful on patrol!"
