Chapter 189 Ding Rumei Steals Things (1/2)

"You have a very strange temper. Someone with your character would never be able to get married in our village. I see that you don't know how to do things. Don't end up wasting your time and effort. I am the head of this household, so you'd better take my advice."

Song Zhaodi chopped the minced meat in her hands, the chopping board making a clattering sound that completely drowned out Ding Rumei's incessant chatter.

However, when Shu Ying left, she specifically instructed that Ding Rumei was a cunning person who might have some dishonest tendencies, so she should keep an eye on her.

Therefore, even though she was busy in the kitchen, she would occasionally glance out the window.

She prepared the dumpling filling, making two kinds by herself, one vegetarian and one meat. She added the seasonings and finally drizzled on a little sesame oil. The savory aroma of the meat filling instantly filled the entire kitchen.

Ding Rumei put down her water glass and, seeing that Song Zhaodi's attention was entirely focused on making dumplings, tiptoed upstairs.

She muttered a curse under her breath when she reached the corner of the stairs.

"It's like you're the only one with eyes, staring at me like I'm a thief! The little bit of money you're paying me isn't even enough to feed a beggar. I came here to help out, so if you don't respect me, don't blame me for being rude to you."

Ding Rumei had been looking for this opportunity for a long time. Since Shu Ying was the daughter of a capitalist, there must be many valuable things hidden in her room.

Even a starved camel is bigger than a horse. If she manages to gather more and sell them all when she gets back, she won't be short of money.

Song Zhaodi was very satisfied with her masterpiece. She kneaded the dough, rolled out the wrappers, and filled the dumplings in one go. The plump white dumplings were neatly arranged on the cutting board, making them look very appetizing.

Only after she had used up all the dough pieces did she suddenly remember that she also had the important responsibility of supervising people.

She looked up and saw that Ding Rumei, who should have been sitting in the living room, had disappeared.

However, there was no sound coming from upstairs. The water in the pot boiled and almost overflowed, so Song Zhaodi quickly took the pot down.

Ding Rumei carefully pushed open the door and entered the house. She hadn't been upstairs at all in the past two days and didn't know which room Shu Ying was staying in.

Upon opening the door, I saw two small beds inside, with a pile of toys next to them, and I instantly understood.

She cursed under her breath: "Damn capitalists! Even such young children need separate rooms, while in the countryside, half-grown children have to sleep on the same kang (heated brick bed) as their fathers. You've got all the good life you deserve."

The furnishings in the children's room are relatively simple, consisting of two precarious little beds and a desk.

The two desks weren't very big, just enough to meet the needs of the two children studying. There were also a few picture books scattered on them, and the basket contained educational toys that Shuying had bought for them.

Song Zhaodi's face was contorted with shock. Where could children in the countryside have such good conditions?

Even the bed sheets for her two children were very soft. She wouldn't even use such material to make clothes, but Shu Ying generously used it on her children.

As expected, you don't know the cost of firewood and rice until you're in charge of the household. The money that Xie Zhiyan worked so hard to earn seemed to fall into her hands like a gust of wind.

Seeing the notebooks and pens neatly arranged on the desk, Ding Rumei's expression of jealousy became even more distorted.

She carefully picked it up to examine it, but there was a string of foreign words on the cap of the pen, so she put it down with some disdain.
