The enticing aroma made Shu Ying's mouth water.
"Sister, it's so wonderful to have you in this family. I've been wanting this for so long, and I'm finally able to eat it today."
The smooth noodles were so delicious that you almost wanted to chew them up and swallow them whole, tongue and all.
Xie Zhiyan didn't eat much today either; the noodles with two drops of sesame oil were so tempting they made your teeth ache.
In no time, half a bowl of noodles was gone. The nausea in Shu Ying's stomach had disappeared, and she was immersed in happiness. She picked up a large mouthful of noodles, blew on it gently, and elegantly put it into her mouth.
"You have no idea what I was like when I was abroad alone. Sometimes I was very busy with my studies and the teachers assigned a lot of homework. Many times I didn't even have time to go to the cafeteria to eat. My stomach started to feel uncomfortable around that time, and it may have become a chronic condition. It was only after I returned to China that I gradually recovered. But sometimes if I don't eat on time, I feel really uncomfortable."
I guess I was just too busy today, that's why I feel so exhausted.
Song Zhaodi felt even more sorry for him. "My poor little bitter gourd, if only we had met earlier, I would have made sure you were well-fed and healthy. Please don't say that anymore, it makes me feel bad. If I cry from heartache later, it will all be your fault."
Shu Ying smiled brightly, having eaten a whole bowl of noodles. Her stomach was so full she could hardly contain herself. This was the happiest moment, when dopamine levels were at their peak, and Shu Ying felt blissfully happy.
"Yes, yes, I should have met you sooner."
Xie Zhiyan silently memorized Song Zhaodi's cooking process, then remembered the refrigerator, and reluctantly lifted his head out of the bowl.
"By the way, sis, the company might send someone to deliver the refrigerator tomorrow. We might not all be home then. If you are, please have them put the refrigerator in an empty corner of our living room. We don't know the exact time yet, but I'll go over and ask them for details tomorrow. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll come over to discuss it."
Song Zhaodi was completely confused. "Refrigerator? What's that?"
Having lived in the countryside for so many years, she had never heard of such a strange thing before, which piqued her curiosity. Since coming to the capital, everything she saw was new and exciting.
Shu Ying put down her chopsticks, patted her belly contentedly with one hand, and patiently explained to her.
"Sister, a refrigerator is a tool that can cool things down once it's plugged in. When we put our leftovers or the fresh vegetables you buy in the refrigerator, we don't have to worry about them spoiling. Refrigerators are divided into fresh food and freezing, so the food we eat will be stored for a longer time. In the future, you won't have to go to the market to buy vegetables every day."
Upon hearing this, Song Zhaodi's eyes lit up. She had never imagined that such a thing existed; it was simply an invention that would benefit mankind. Her eyes shone brightly.
"This is great! I've been thinking about storing up ice in winter so I can make an icebox in the summer and put our food in it. I'm worried every day that our food will spoil. Vegetables are okay, but the meat we buy tastes bad in hot weather. But we have four distinct seasons here, so even if we have ice in winter, it's hard to preserve it until summer. I've been so worried about this lately. Now that's great, I don't have to rack my brains anymore."
She smiled and began to dream. Where would she find something like this in the countryside?
Every household is worried about wasting electricity, so they usually go to bed early. Most families are reluctant to even turn on the lights, and lighting a candle for a while is considered an extreme luxury.
