"Comrade Ruan, I just happened to be looking for you."
Ruan Xi's eyes lit up, and she forced a proper smile. "Sister Chen, is there good news?"
Sister Chen nodded and whispered, "My relative's relative plans to go to Hong Kong to stay with his son, so he plans to sell the house before going to Hong Kong."
"It's a house, with a small courtyard, two bedrooms and a main room. It's nearby, a five-minute walk from your workplace. Do you have time to go and take a look now?"
Ruan Xi was tempted after hearing this; wasn't this the little house she had been longing for?
"If we have time, we can go and take a look now."
"OK."
Sister Chen led Ruan Xi through two alleys before arriving at a residential house.
This house looks quite old; it's an old house from thirty years ago. Even though it has a small courtyard, it's not particularly noticeable in front of the staff quarters of the machinery factory across the street.
Sister Chen took out her key and opened the dilapidated wooden door. With a creak, she smiled sheepishly and said, "I can replace this door for you later."
"We've got all the doors and windows ready for you, since you're a girl living alone."
Ruan Xi gave a vague reply, glanced at the small courtyard in front of her, and felt that it was only about the size of a palm, but the layout was quite good, so it didn't feel cramped.
"Sister Chen, how big is this little courtyard?"
"About ten square meters is more than enough for one person."
"The light is good here, you can hang your clothes to dry in the yard."
"And in this corner, you can plant some green onions, cilantro, or something."
Ruan Xi walked around and saw that the kitchen was on the west side of the courtyard, and the bathroom was beyond the kitchen.
There are three rooms at the front: two are bedrooms, and the middle one is the main hall.
The east wing is larger than the west wing.
"Comrade Ruan, what do you think of this house?" Sister Chen asked tentatively.
Ruan Xi was very satisfied, but worried that if she showed it directly, others would raise the price, so she could only pretend to be a little dissatisfied, saying, "It feels a bit old."

Sister Chen asked, "So how much money can you afford?"
"2500, I guess."
"2500 is too little, it should be at least 3000."
Ruan Xi pursed her lips tightly. "I've looked at quite a few houses these past few days, and this one is definitely more suitable for me."
"I really want it, but I don't have enough money."
"2800, see if you can ask your family and friends to help you raise the money."
