When Sang Feiyu and Ning Zhiyuan came out, the door next door was already crowded with people.
Sang Feiyu asked curiously, "Didn't anyone go in to break up the fight?"
Upon hearing this, Wu Xiufen reminded him, "There's no need to break up the fight."
“My husband went in to break up the fight before, and not only did he get his neck slashed, but he was also scolded by the couple, who said that my husband was meddling in other people’s business.”
Some people chimed in, "That's right, couples who fight in bed make up before they get out of bed. Fighting is a sign of affection, and scolding is a sign of love. We shouldn't be the bad guys."
"Moreover, nowadays every household uses enamel mugs and enamel basins, which are unbreakable. At most, they might chip a little, but that won't affect their use."
Sang Feiyu only knew that a couple lived next door, and that their child had been taken back to their hometown by the elderly couple; she knew nothing else.
There was also a young woman who was about the same age as her, but looked older.
When they meet, they usually just nod and rarely speak. Sang Feiyu doesn't even know what their voices sound like.
"According to you, they often argue and fight?"
Sang Feiyu felt puzzled. She had been living in the family compound for more than two months, and this was the first time she had witnessed them arguing.
“They cause trouble about once every three months on average. Those of us who live nearby are used to it.”
"When they first got married, they would argue three times a day, but things are much better now," someone kindly explained.
Listening to the commotion inside, Sang Feiyu realized that it was just things being smashed and there was no fighting. So she pulled Ning Zhiyuan away, preventing him from going in to get involved, lest they be blamed for meddling and get themselves into trouble.
It's not worth the risk!
"Zhiyuan, let's go back."
Sang Feiyu was also afraid of being bumped into by others when there were many people, so she consciously kept her distance from the crowd.
Ning Zhiyuan listened to the commotion for a while and thought it was a common occurrence, so he ignored it and followed Sang Feiyu back home.
The neighbors next door have been throwing things and arguing, so they're destined not to get a break at noon today.
Ning Zhiyuan could no longer tolerate it, so he got up and planned to go next door. It was fine if they wanted to fight, but they shouldn't disturb other people's rest.
No sooner had he stepped out of the room than he heard someone outside shout, "Deputy Regiment Commander Ning, someone has been killed!"
Ning Zhiyuan ran out immediately, and Sang Feiyu also quickly got up, put on a light coat, and went to the gate of the yard. "Sister Wu, what's going on?"
"According to the people in front, Zeng Huayan collapsed and couldn't get up. There was a pool of blood on the ground. I was standing quite far away, so I didn't see it clearly."
“The person in front just called your man. Do you think I should go home and call my man?” Wu Xiufen asked hesitantly.
She didn't really want to call him "man" at all, since it was difficult to manage their family affairs.
People who have fought are now all lovey-dovey again. If anyone tries to persuade them, they're practically their enemy. Nobody wants to be the bad guy.
"Let's see what's going on first. Didn't they say someone died?"
"Why hasn't he been sent to the military hospital yet?"
As soon as Sang Feiyu finished speaking, she saw the man next door carrying his wife out, followed by Ning Zhiyuan with a serious expression.
"Wife, you go back inside first, I'm going to the military hospital to see a doctor."
"Uh-huh."
Before returning to the house, Sang Feiyu glanced ahead and saw that Zeng Huayan had a lot of blood flowing from the back of her head, indicating that the situation was quite serious.
Wu Xiufen also realized the seriousness of the situation and rushed home to call her husband.
Although Ning Zhiyuan and the others had already gone far away, everyone still stood there, unwilling to leave.
"Company Commander Liu went too far this time. Arguing is one thing, but how could he resort to violence?"
