Sang Youde's gaze was inquisitive. "Young man, you're being a bit insincere."
“You brought over a marriage certificate that none of us have seen, and you claim to be my granddaughter’s fiancé. My daughter and son-in-law have never said they were engaged to Xiaoyu. Now I want to know the truth, but you’re unwilling to cooperate, so it’s hard to continue this conversation.”
Lu Xuan paused for a moment before replying, "Grandpa..."
Sang Youde interrupted him directly, "Stop, we've only met twice, don't call me that, it's easy for people to misunderstand."
Lu Xuan: ...
After a long pause, he slowly spoke, "Comrade Sang, you don't need to worry about who gave me your address."
"You just need to make sure the marriage certificate is real and the token is real."
Sang Youde replied, "Xiao Yu said she has never seen any marriage certificate."
"Logically, both the man and the woman should have a copy of the marriage certificate."
Lu Xuan pursed his lips tightly. "I'm not too sure about that. I only know that my fiancée is Sang Feiyu. We are both adults and can arrange our marriage."
Sang Youde replied slowly and deliberately, "I already told you last time that Xiaoyu is already married."
“You were impulsive at the time, and I accidentally broke your little finger. I want to apologize for that.”
"Since you're willing to come here and talk to me today, you must already have a suitable solution."
Lu Xuan nodded. "I've thought about it. As long as she's willing to divorce her husband and marry me again, I can pretend nothing ever happened."
“My mother really likes Sang Feiyu. She said that she can only be Sang Feiyu’s mother-in-law in this lifetime.”
Sang Feiyu raised an eyebrow. Did Lu Xuan's mother know her?
Sang Youde was clearly aware of this as well. "Does your mother know my Xiaoyu?"
“Yes, she met Sang Feiyu when she was very young,” Lu Xuan said truthfully.
"Can you tell me what your mother's name is?"
Lu Xuan replied, "My mother's name is Li Aihong."
Li Aihong?
Who is it?
Sang Feiyu racked his brains, but still couldn't figure out who Li Aihong was!
Sang Youde also found the name unfamiliar; at least he was certain he didn't know anyone named Li Aihong.
He probed, "What is the relationship between your mother and my daughter?"
Lu Xuan thought for a moment before replying, "I guess you could call them good sisters."
Zhao Hui suddenly walked over and interjected, "When did my daughter have a good friend named Li Aihong?"
She couldn't guarantee anything else, but she was certain of this.
Her daughter doesn't like socializing, and the friends she has are all for work. She only has a handful of close female friends in her life, you can count them on one hand. She has never heard her daughter mention Li Aihong.
Lu Xuan's face turned pale and then red. "Fine, don't believe me then."
"That's what my mom told me anyway."
"She said her in-laws were the best and kindest people she had ever met, otherwise she wouldn't have agreed to the arranged marriage."
Sang Youde suddenly asked, "Is your mother in Shanghai now?"
"Yes, she's waiting for my good news at the nearby guesthouse."
"I have said everything I can say. I hope your family can give me a fair answer."
"Don't let me and my mother down."
After Lu Xuan finished speaking, he turned and walked out of the study without waiting for Sang Youde and Zhao Hui to reply.
Sang Feiyu caught a glimpse of his profile through the crack in the door; it was indeed an unfamiliar face.
But when her gaze swept over his eyebrows and eyes, she felt a little familiar.
