Zhao Qinghuai stayed at home for a few days before leaving again.
Lin Ying was left at home with her three children.
Fortunately, Lin Ying is currently unemployed, or rather, she doesn't need to go out to work, so staying at home every day is fine.
In traditional Chinese medicine, autism and depression are also considered illnesses.
Joy injures the heart, anger injures the liver, worry injures the spleen, fright injures the kidneys, and grief injures the lungs.
Conversely, children with weak spleens and stomachs are prone to anxiety, while children with weak kidneys are easily startled. In Lin Ying's eyes, Haoyu is such a child.
Some things can only be healed with time. However, Lin Ying can manage to improve her health by taking care of her body.
Since she had nothing to do at home, Lin Ying liked to make some soups and stews. She made various kinds of soups for Haoyu to drink every day.
Of course, Shuanzi and Erya were always included. However, Haoyu always drank the same things, while Lin Ying would try different drinks from the other two.
This led Shuanzi to believe that Lin Ying was biased towards him and Er Ya.
Lin Ying was severely criticized for this.
Lin Ying knew that children are at an age where they are learning to distinguish between good and evil, and sometimes, hiding things is not a good thing.
So she simply called all the boys in her family together and told them why she was doing this.
Lin Ying never expressed any strong desire for Haoyu's approval.
In her opinion, rather than forcing him to accept something, it's better to let him gradually adapt to life here.
It took her several months to gradually mold Shuanzi into her current lively self. Haoyu's situation is clearly much more complicated than Shuanzi's.
The day before the Lantern Festival, the military unit gave each family half a jin of glutinous rice balls.
The glutinous rice balls were filled with five kinds of nuts. Er Ya ate one, Lin Ying ate two, and Hao Yu and Shuan Zi each ate three.
But the two children clearly still wanted more. Lin Ying never deprived herself of food. She thought the glutinous rice balls were quite delicious.
She decided to go to town tomorrow to buy some more. If they didn't have it there, she'd go to the city. Although she wasn't really keen on going, she hadn't had enough to eat herself; she could let the child suffer, but she couldn't let herself.
However, plans can't keep up with changes.
Early in the morning, Lin Ying heard a knock on the door. She quickly got dressed and went out, where she saw Li Yue'e: "Little sister, did I disturb your sleep? Look, I'm really sorry."
The unit's logistics vehicle broke down today, and the mess hall vehicle left long ago. It's snowing so heavily outside, and horse-drawn carriages won't be able to travel easily, so I was wondering if you could help us get to town.
Lin Ying agreed without hesitation: "Sister-in-law, wait a moment, let me talk to the kids at home. The car also needs water and to start the engine. It might take a while."
Li Yue'e hurriedly said, "It's alright, it's alright, there's still time. Take your time. No matter what your car is like, it's still faster than us walking, isn't it?"
Lin Ying quickly added water to the car and then started the engine.
Afterwards, they returned to the room, wrapped Er Ya up, and stuffed her, blanket and all, into the back room.
Sure enough, Haoyu had already opened his eyes.
Lin Ying didn't waste any words and said directly, "Auntie has to go out for a while and doesn't know when she'll be back. Haoyu, take care of your younger siblings. Shuanzi, get up and help her get dressed. Erya, remember to carry her to the toilet when she gets up. There's warm water on the stove."
If I don't come back, make milk for all three of you. One cup each.
"Don't touch the thermos! You can't go outside without clothes on. Got it?"
Lin Ying left after seeing Haoyu nod.
Perhaps Er Ya was uncomfortable sleeping under Lin Ying's large quilt. Or perhaps the kang (heated brick bed) in Er Ya's room was warmer than the one in Lin Ying's room.
The little guy moved back and forth between Shuanzi and Haoyu. Finally, he managed to crawl into Haoyu's bed.
Haoyu was so frightened by the little bundle of flesh in his arms that he almost dared not move.
Er Ya, thinking she had snuggled into Lin Ying's arms again, slept very soundly.
When Lin Ying came out, the car was already warm. She unloaded everything from the car, including blankets and planks. She only left half a bucket of water and a bucket of coal.
Lin Ying's car came out quickly.
Seeing Li Yue'e standing in the snow, Lin Ying couldn't help but say, "Sister-in-law, why are you standing here? I was saying you went home first. Come on up."
Li Yue'e said nonchalantly, "I'm dressed warmly, so standing outside for a while won't hurt."
As she spoke, Li Yue'e helped her two sons into the car.
Upon getting into the car, Li Yue'e exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, sister, it's so warm in your car!"
Lin Ying explained with a smile, "It's definitely warm with the heating on. Sister-in-law, is anyone else here? Where are Sister Chunhua and the others?"
Li Yue'e, with her two children, sat on the wooden board above the heater pipe on the left side of Lin Ying's car: "It's just ahead. They're waiting over there to see if the logistics department can get another car. I couldn't wait any longer, so I came to find you."
Lin Ying nodded: "Then you all sit down, let's go take a look first."
The car started slowly. Soon, it arrived at the main gate of the military dependents' compound.
Seeing so many people standing at the door, it was clear that no one had waited for a car.
Lin Ying stopped the car and said to Gao Chunhua, "Sister-in-law, get in. Sister-in-law Yue'e is inside. I'll take you to work first. It's okay to be late for school, but it'll be troublesome if you're late for work."
Upon hearing this, Gao Chunhua and Wang Zhen exchanged a glance, and without refusing, they got into the car with the child.
Women and children are relatively light, so Lin Ying had three more children come up with her. Only then did she drive to town.
After dropping the child off at the school gate, Lin Ying thought for a moment and decided to go back to check if the other children had boarded the bus.
Sure enough, when Lin Ying was on her way back, she saw Han Xiangxiu leading a group of children walking towards her.
