Chapter 203 The Monitoring Room?

Lin Ying led Hu Zi back to the tombstone.

Lin Ying bought gloves from her online space and wore a mask. She also wore a white lab coat.

They bought offerings to pay their respects and then gave the person a proper burial.

However, when Lin Ying prepared to collect the bones, she felt something was strange before, and now it was even stranger. This person was clearly thinking about the people inside before he died, and she also knew from the letter that they were a couple.

Shouldn't husband and wife be buried together?

Thinking of this, Lin Ying suddenly stood up and went to look at the empty stone coffin. She looked it over from top to bottom, but after finding nothing, she returned to the tombstone.

Unexpectedly, behind the tombstone, Lin Ying saw two grooves. And the shape of these grooves was all too familiar to her.

This is exactly the shape of her jade pendant. So, when the scroll mentions that he should bring his wife to meet his parents, does it actually mean he should bring the jade pendant?

However, she now has one of the jade pendants, while the other is in Lin Rong's hands, even though her space has been merged with her own.

Just as Lin Ying was thinking that there might be some big secret here, but unfortunately she didn't have a jade pendant, she suddenly saw two jade pendants appear on her chest.

Both are here?

What's going on? Why are all the jade pendants with her?

If you can't figure something out, don't think about it anymore. Lin Ying placed the two jade pendants behind the tombstone according to the groove positions.

A heavy sound rang out, and the bottom of the empty stone coffin behind Lin Ying suddenly opened.

At this moment, Lin Ying felt as if she had found a new path after a long and difficult journey. However, she didn't dare to go in directly.

You see, Lin Ying has overcome countless obstacles to get here, going through the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams, studying medicine, and even using poison. She's genuinely worried that there might be something strange here.

Lin Ying stood there, her brows furrowed, her eyes fixed on the suddenly opened entrance at the bottom of the stone coffin, her heart filled with both curiosity and nervousness. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, then took out a flashlight from her backpack and shone it into the dark entrance.

As the light reached, a set of steps leading downwards could be faintly seen. The steps were covered with moss and looked extremely slippery. Some indistinct patterns were carved on the walls on both sides, seemingly telling a story from long ago.

The presence of moss indicates that the interior is not sealed, but rather that air is circulating.

Lin Ying picked up another small stone and threw it into the entrance, wanting to hear if there were any unusual sounds inside. She heard the sound of the stone rolling in echo a few times, and then it became quiet. There were no dangerous sounds coming from inside.

Nevertheless, Lin Ying dared not act rashly. First, she took out a long rope from her spatial storage, tied one end securely to a large rock nearby, and the other end around her waist, preparing for a quick evacuation should danger arise. Next, she took out a small knife for self-defense, gripped it tightly in her hand, and then cautiously took her first step towards the entrance.

Seeing Lin Ying about to go down, Tiger followed closely behind her, occasionally letting out a low growl, as if to embolden her. Lin Ying slowly descended the steps, taking each step with extreme caution, constantly watching her surroundings. The further down she went, the more damp and cool the air became, mixed with a faint stench of decay, causing Lin Ying to wrinkle her nose.

After walking for a while, a small space appeared before them. Several old boxes were placed in the space, covered in dust, and some bottles and jars that looked quite ancient were scattered in the corner. Lin Ying's heart stirred, thinking that perhaps something important was hidden inside, maybe a precious book related to the Lin family or a lost medicine recipe.

She first walked to the bottles and jars, gently blowing away the dust. She found that some jars contained dried medicine powder, while others still contained traces of unidentified liquid. However, given the passage of time, she didn't know if these things were still of any use. Next, Lin Ying turned her attention to the boxes. She tried to open one of them, but found it locked, and the lock was rusty but looked quite sturdy.

Lin Ying pondered for a moment, then took out a small hammer from her spatial storage and gently tapped the lock a few times, trying to open it. However, the lock only wobbled a few times and showed no sign of opening. Frustrated, she had to increase her strength, and after some effort, finally, with a loud "clang," the lock was broken open. Full of anticipation, Lin Ying opened the box, only to find no gold, silver, or precious medical books inside. Instead, she found several worn-out pieces of clothing. The clothing appeared to be made of high-quality material, likely from a bygone era, but now it was tattered and worn.

Lin Ying was somewhat disappointed, but still unwilling to give up, she opened the other boxes and found that they mostly contained daily necessities, such as combs and mirrors. These looked more like inhabited places than the cave she had just been to.

But why would someone choose to live underground rather than in a cave? Wouldn't the cave be better than this damp and shady place?

Moreover, is it really necessary to set up an agency in such a place?

Wait a minute, something seems off!

Lin Ying shone her flashlight around, but because the light was limited, she switched to a handheld lamp. Only then could she see clearly that there was no ventilation shaft; where was the wind coming from?

A surge of intense curiosity welled up within Lin Ying. She carefully examined the area following the direction of the wind and discovered an inconspicuous crack in the corner of the wall, through which the wind was continuously blowing in. Lin Ying leaned closer and touched the wall around the crack, feeling that it seemed thinner than the rest of the wall. A thought struck her: could there be another space behind it?
