Perhaps because the pressure was gone, Lin Ying felt much more relaxed. Once again, she fell asleep to Zhao Qinghuai's story.
When Lin Ying woke up the next day, she found that Zhao Qinghuai was not there again, but he would come to keep her company every night and watch her sleep.
Seeing the livid look in Zhao Qinghuai's eyes, Lin Ying insisted that Zhao Qinghuai not stay with her any longer.
Lin Ying was alone in the house again. But perhaps because the toxins were fading, she felt not only physically, but also mentally, much lighter.
As the toxins subsided, Lin Ying's sleep improved.
While toxins may not affect the body directly, obesity certainly can. Lin Ying's negative emotions, coupled with the hormonal imbalance caused by her sudden weight gain, were also contributing factors to her insomnia.
But in reality, it was because Lin Ying couldn't let go of what had happened in the past.
When you sleep well, your mood will naturally improve.
After more than a week of silence, Lin Ying finally returned to normal.
To celebrate her recovery, she finally dug up the roe deer that she had buried in the snow.
The meat sauce she had promised to make for Zhao Qinghuai hadn't been made yet. There were still some mushrooms at home, so Lin Ying set up a pot, one for braising meat, and started simmering the meat sauce on the stove outside.
Lin Ying's jars had been washed and returned. She planned to make two jars of meat sauce and send them to Zhao Qinghuai. She noticed that Zhao Qinghuai hadn't brought back his canning jars, but the cans themselves had returned.
Soon, the aroma filled Lin Ying's yard once again.
One by one, the children from the compound came running over. They had been very worried about Lin Ying these past few days, but because Xiao Qiang's mother said they couldn't disturb their aunt, none of them could come.
Now, the aroma wafting from my aunt's yard means she's definitely better.
So, everyone cleverly ran home, grabbed their bowls and chopsticks, and came to Lin Ying's house.
A large pot of meat was stewing, and Lin Ying had included the children in it, so she naturally cooked quite a lot. However, stewing meat only required attention to the heat; she just needed to go in and add firewood from time to time. Therefore, she sat by the stove outside, simmering the sauce. This place couldn't be left unattended; it needed constant stirring.
Just as Lin Ying was busy, she felt a breeze blowing in. She looked in the direction of the wind and saw a small head.
These children all thought that Lin Ying treated Xiao Shuai better, so he always took the lead in everything.
"What are you doing standing outside? Come on in. Go inside and play by yourselves. We'll call you when the meat is cooked."
As soon as Lin Ying finished speaking, the children slipped in one by one.
However, they didn't forget to greet Lin Ying.
This time, Lin Ying didn't cook noodles, but instead generously steamed rice.
By the time Lin Ying finished cooking the sauce and set it over there to cool, the meat over there was almost done cooking.
As always, everyone had to wash their hands and faces before they could line up to get their food with their bowls and chopsticks.
Half a bowl of rice topped with a thick layer of meat. It's available for both big and small children.
"Finish your meal before you get more!"
Although she was cured of the poison, Lin Ying's appetite remained unchanged, still eating three bowls of rice.
The children were initially hesitant to eat it; it was rice! That's something most families only get to eat during the Lunar New Year. Besides, they all noticed that their aunt had lost weight.
Xiao Qiang, holding a bowl, looked at Lin Ying and asked, "Auntie, is it because we come to your house so often that you've gotten sick?"
Lin Ying laughed when she heard him ask that, "What are you thinking? No, it's just that I've had some health problems before." After saying that, Lin Ying looked up and realized that none of the children were sitting there and had touched their chopsticks.
Why aren't you eating? Is it not to your liking?
Lin Ying frowned; she thought it tasted alright.
Dahai then spoke up, "Auntie, we just like coming to your house to play. You don't have to give us these things to eat."
Everyone nodded, and then Xiao Shuai revealed the reason for their confusion: "It must be because we ate all of Auntie's food that she had no food to eat and became so thin from hunger."
Lin Ying chuckled. She knew it! She was perfectly fine just now, even bringing her bowl and chopsticks without thinking because of the delicious smell. Turns out, she thought Lin Ying was hungry because she looked thinner.
"You're not that old, but you think a lot. Don't you guys think I was too fat before?"
Lin Ying was about to say something like being too fat is bad, but then she saw the children shaking their heads one by one: "No, Auntie is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
"Yes, they're just as pretty as New Year's picture dolls."
"Yes, just like Guanyin Bodhisattva."
Lin Ying was speechless, truly wondering what was wrong with these children's aesthetic sense. However, she still explained, "The reason I was so fat before was because of a health problem. I recently took medicine, and my health has improved, so I'm slowly getting back to normal."
Would you rather see me looking healthy and chubby, or healthy and thin?
The children naturally chose: "Then let's keep her thin. We hope Auntie is doing well."
"That's it then. Okay, can we eat now?"
Everyone nodded in unison and finally began to eat the meat that had been making their mouths water.
Lin Ying couldn't help but laugh when she saw this.
After finishing her meal, Lin Ying looked at the meat in the pot and simply put it in a jar. The meat sauce on the outside had also cooled down, so she put it in as well.
"You all stay home and play, Auntie is going out for a bit."
Seeing Lin Ying busy, the children asked curiously, "Auntie, what are you going to do?"
Lin Ying explained, "I'm going to send some meat sauce to your uncle."
Upon hearing that they were going to the military base, the children exchanged glances and immediately put on their clothes, saying, "Auntie, we want to go too! Can you take us with you?"
