Chapter 47 Little Aunt

Shi Wan had learned about Mrs. Chu's personality from the two Chu brothers, but she hadn't expected her to be so talkative.

Chu Yuan finally finished counting the ants on the ground. She looked up and saw her mother and the aunt from a few days ago walking towards her. She happily dropped the stick and rushed towards the two of them.

"Don't move."

Xiao Chuyuan felt a tightness around her neck as her collar was pulled by a force. She turned around and saw that it was her father pulling her.

Her chubby little face puffed up instantly, her cute big eyes filled with a layer of mist, and she pouted as if about to make a sound when she received a look from her dad.

She instinctively shrank her neck, held back the tears that were about to come out, and stretched out her chubby little hands to Chu Ningyi so that he could hug her.

Chu Ningyi didn't even blink as he strode to Shen Zhiyi's side, gently taking her hand in one hand while constantly pulling up her slipping shawl with the other.

Lu Jingyan raised an eyebrow as he looked at the loving couple in front of him, tightened his grip on Shi Wan's arm, and carefully held her other hand.

Mr. Lu said that no one can surpass him in spoiling his wife.

The four walked straight towards the villa, while Chu Yuan, ignored by the four, stood alone in the wind, bewildered.

Well, she's gotten used to her dad only having eyes for her mom, and all she can do is keep counting ants.

Chu Ningyi and his wife took Shen Zhiyi to a two-story villa next to the main villa, where the couple's collection was kept.

Inside the villa, Chu Zhi and her sister-in-law were so busy that Chu Ningxuan was momentarily dazzled. "Auntie, your excessive enthusiasm might scare Xiao Shiwan."

“What do you know, kid? If Wanwan really is your aunt’s daughter, we’ll have to throw her a big family banquet. Then… Hey! Aunt Li, what’s with those white roses? Go and replace them with the pink peonies we just bought this morning.”

Chu Zhi was unhappy that the servants in the house could arrange the flowers wrong. These were her younger sister's favorite flowers, and she thought Wanwan would like them.

"Chu Ningxuan! Can't you do something productive? Your brother and the others should be finishing up soon. Stop lounging around and go see if they've come over yet!"

Madam Chu glanced at Chu Ningxuan, who was lying idly on the sofa, and said in an annoyed tone.

"Me! I just laid out the snacks that Xiao Wan likes to eat!" Chu Ningxuan felt more and more aggrieved as he thought about it, and kept fiddling with the snacks on the coffee table.

He found out from Ji Meng what snacks, desserts, and milk tea Shi Wan liked to eat. He felt that to win a girl's heart, you had to start with small details, and these small details started with food.

Madam Chu rolled her eyes at her good-for-nothing son, then turned to check the kitchen. A woman's voice came from the kitchen again, "Xiao Zhang, don't use frozen seafood! We just bought fresh ones, so hurry up and steam them!"

"Mom! Aunt! Can you two shut up? There are servants in the kitchen. You two should take Grandma away and talk to her first. Whether she is your aunt's daughter or not, you can't show it in public."

Lu Jingyan had mentioned to him that Shi Wan's parents had passed away early, and that part of the reason she returned to China with Feng Yunzhou was to find her mother's family.

However, before finding out whether Shi Wan was his aunt's daughter, he dared not tell his family that Shi Wan's parents had died unexpectedly many years ago, so as not to cause them further grief.

"Yes, yes, back then, Xiaoyun must have had some resentment towards us when she left home. Wanwan isn't familiar with us either. If Xiaoyun finds out, she'll definitely be unhappy." A hint of worry flashed in Chu Zhi's eyes.

If her older brother and she had listened to her younger sister's thoughts back then, she wouldn't have left home for so many years without contacting her family.

Chu Zhi took a deep breath, calmed her agitated emotions, her tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly, and a slight smile appeared on her lips as she calmly went upstairs.

Chu Ningxuan's gaze darkened as he stared at the second floor. If Wanwan was his sister, then his aunt would have already... Wouldn't his grandmother's hopes of so many years have been shattered?

But deep down he also hoped that Shi Wan was his younger sister. In this generation of the Chu family, only he, his older brother, and his aunt's son were still in high school, so he and his older brother had always wanted a younger sister to dote on since they were little.

"Ning Xuan." Madam Chu had just finished directing the servants to set out the tableware when she turned around and saw her son staring blankly at the second floor.

Chu Ningxuan snapped out of his daze and looked at his mother. "Ningxuan, are you hiding something from us?"

My son is a piece of my own flesh and blood; if anything is wrong with him, I can tell at a glance.

"Mom... what are you thinking? What could I possibly be hiding from you? Hurry up and get ready, they're coming soon."

"What about my dad? Didn't you tell him?"

Although Madam Chu was puzzled, she did not ask any further questions. Children grow up and have their own ideas and ways of handling things, so parents really don't need to pry too much.

"He went to the capital on a business trip. He still had some things to take care of yesterday, and he should be on his way back now."

Meanwhile, in the small villa on the other side, two tall and handsome men leaned lazily back in their chairs, Lu Jingyan and Chu Ningyi quietly enjoying spring tea in the living room on the first floor.

Lu Jingyan's well-defined index finger tapped lightly on the rim of the white jade cup, his deep gaze fixed on the direction of the villa.

Leaning back slightly, she asked in a calm voice, "If Wanwan were your aunt's daughter, how would you treat her? After all, Aunt Chu left after falling out with your Chu family back then."

Chu Ningyi's eyes twitched. He glanced at the tightly closed door on the second floor and said firmly, "Those who are members of the Chu family will naturally be protected by our Chu family. After Aunt left, Grandma fell ill, and we have never given up looking for her all these years. If Ruowun is Aunt's daughter, we will definitely want her to be recognized by our ancestors."

"But have you considered whether she would like to return to the Chu family?" Lu Jingyan's deep voice revealed no emotion.

"Moreover, Wanwan's biological parents died in an accident when she was young."

Then, she looked up at Chu Ningyi and said bluntly, "If Old Madam Chu knew that her youngest daughter had died in an accident at such a young age, could she bear it?"

His voice remained flat, revealing no emotion whatsoever.

"Passed away?" Chu Ningyi was stunned for a moment, his brows furrowing. "What accident?"

“The research institute where they worked was involved in a plane crash while on a mission. I sent people to look for them, but no remains were found at the crash site.”

Lu Jingyan took out a cigarette, put it in his mouth, then looked away from the second floor and ultimately didn't light it.

Chu Ningyi felt a sudden tightness in his chest upon hearing the news.

That was his aunt.

When he was little, his aunt often took him and Chu Ningxuan to South Island to catch crabs or climb coconut trees. Chu Ningxuan was very young at the time and liked to play with them, but he would always cry because he couldn't keep up with them, so his aunt had to hold him and comfort him.

Although he was young at the time, he had already begun to remember things, so his impression of his aunt was more profound than that of Chu Ningxuan.

His aunt is very pretty, and the little red mole on her nose looks adorable when she smiles. Sometimes when she takes care of the two of them, it's like an older sister taking care of two younger brothers.

Back then, many ladies from wealthy and influential families would bring their sons to visit the old house. The visits were ostensibly for the purpose of getting to know the younger sister-in-law.
