Chapter 68 Waiting from Day to Night

While everyone was still enjoying the gossip they had just heard in a corner, little did they know that it had also reached the ears of the two people waiting at the door.

Zhou Yuan glanced at the group of people not far away and coughed a few times on purpose, but they didn't understand what he meant at all.

Lu Jingyan snorted twice, his eyes icy cold.

Zhou Yuan shrank back and followed Lu Jingyan respectfully.

At that moment, a Mercedes sports car pulled up in front of the company. The coldness in Lu Jingyan's eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a doting smile.

The boss's gaze was fixed intently on Shi Wan. The deep love in his eyes was undisguised in the slightest.

Lu Jingyan hurriedly stepped forward to open the door for Shi Wan, took the handbag and food box from her hand, and led Shi Wan into the private elevator with his other hand.

The movements were executed in one smooth motion, with each step flowing effortlessly, without the slightest hesitation.

This left everyone speechless. Was this... still the cold-faced Yama of the Lu family?

It clearly looks like a large dog, a husky, no less...

Just as the elevator doors were about to close, Lu Jingyan glanced at Zhou Yuan and casually remarked, "Is this how you train your employees? But... that 'boss lady' greeting was pretty good."

Uh… Zhou Yuan broke out in a cold sweat, and then called all the department managers to the conference room.

In the office.

Lu Jingyan placed the food box on the table and immediately pulled Shi Wan onto his lap.

Shi Wan was gently called out, her voice still gentle, "I started making this soup before training this morning, it's perfect to drink now."

"You usually cook at home, so let's see how my soup is today?"

"Hmm?" Lu Jingyan raised an eyebrow, not in a hurry to open the food box, but picked up Shi Wan's hand and examined it carefully.

"What are you doing..." Shi Wan asked, puzzled.

"Check if your hands are injured. I'll do these things from now on. If I'm not here, Auntie will come over."

Lu Jingyan confirmed once again that Shi Wan's hands were uninjured before he took out a soup bowl, filled two bowls, blew on one of them, and handed it to Shi Wan's lips.

“But I want to cook your favorite food for you. You always take care of me, so now I can take care of you too?” Shi Wan smiled sweetly, which made Lu Jingyan pause in surprise.

"Mmm." Lu Jingyan kissed Shi Wan's forehead.

Wanwan offered to take care of him; doesn't this mean his persistence and efforts were paying off?

Shi Wan stared intently at the man drinking soup in front of her, her heart fluttering slightly.

During this period, her relationship with Lu Jingyan was clearly different from the beginning, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why.

He was like a blank sheet of paper, always following behind me except when he went to the company.

She went to work, and he followed her to school.

She went to dance rehearsal, and he waited for her outside the dance studio.

He would massage her, apply medicine, and help her with rehabilitation exercises.

He slowly entered every corner of her life, and she became more and more dependent on him.

Although she had previously told Ji Meng that she would return to Y country after finding her mother's family, she is now reluctant to leave.

But she didn't dare. Her past with Feng Yunzhou, the child she lost that night, and the doctor's repeated warnings—she dared not gamble.

"What are you thinking about? You seem so engrossed in your thoughts." Lu Jingyan gently tapped Shi Wan's cheek.

"I…"

"No one is allowed to think about it except me." Before Shi Wan could answer, Lu Jingyan spoke first.

Just as Shi Wan was about to retort, Zhou Yuan walked in with a stack of documents.

Lu Jingyan took the documents and flipped through them. Zhou Yuan asked, "Boss, when do we depart?"

Shi Wan glanced at the documents and asked, "Are you going on a business trip?"

Lu Jingyan looked up at him with a half-smile, "Wanwan, you can't bear to part with me? Do you want to come with me?"

"How can you concentrate on your work if I go? Go ahead, I'll wait for you to come back."

Upon hearing Shi Wan's last words, Lu Jingyan's displeasure stemming from the business trip instantly vanished.

Shi Wan glanced at the man who was about to leave on a business trip, then hugged her and kissed him repeatedly. She patted the back of his hand and asked, "Why aren't you leaving yet? Isn't it going to take more than ten hours to fly there?"

Lu Jingyan said casually, "I'll take you downstairs first, and have them wait on the roof."

Shi Wan: "..."

She forgot that Mr. Lu was a rich man.

Zhou Yuan looked at Lu Jingyan, who was being all lovey-dovey with Shi Wan, and thought, "Boss, I can't bear to look! I've already been fed a mouthful of dog food. I'm full just looking at them."

...

Shi Wan received a call from Ji Meng on her way back to her apartment.

"Wanwan! I'm back!" These past few days, her brother has been abroad, and she's been managing part of the family business, so she has to fly back and forth between different cities.

He had just returned to Kyoto when he immediately called Shi Wan, a privilege that even Zhao Zhilin didn't have.

"Mengmeng, where are you? I'm coming to pick you up."

"No need, no need. Zhao Zhilin came to pick me up from the airport early, and I'm in his car now." She glanced at Zhao Zhilin beside her; this man had definitely planted a tracking device on her.

Otherwise, he would check up on her wherever she went. Today, she had to hand over her work in advance and sneak back to Kyoto without telling anyone.

He caught her red-handed as soon as she reached the exit.

She pouted her red lips in dissatisfaction and turned her head to the other side.

There was a moment of silence in the car. The driver noticed something was wrong with his boss's expression in the rearview mirror and wisely raised the screen.

"Tell me, did you install a GPS tracker on my phone?" Ji Meng rolled her eyes at him with displeasure.

Zhao Zhilin chuckled helplessly, "My little darling, I wouldn't dare do something that would leave me without a wife."

"Who's your wife?" Ji Meng's eyes widened even more.

"Whoever questions whether I put a GPS tracker in her phone is my wife," Zhao Zhilin replied calmly.

"You! You're getting the benefit and you're still acting innocent."

"Could you give me a free pass... and let me take advantage of you?"

"You...you pervert! Ugh..." Ji Meng's voice disappeared into the quiet carriage.

All that could be heard were the two of them making soft, low moaning sounds.

It was already nine o'clock in the evening when Ji Meng knocked on Shi Wan's door. Shi Wan looked at her with a puzzled expression.

"Didn't you... go back to your apartment at 2 PM?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Hmm..." Ji Meng bit her red lips tightly and didn't answer guiltily.

Shi Wan looked suspiciously at Ji Meng's high collar, where a few blushes were peeking out from the collar.

"You..." Shi Wan wanted to speak.

"Stop! Hold on! It's all that shameless Zhao Zhilin's fault. He stalked me and bullied me while my brother was away." Ji Meng said through gritted teeth, but her expression was... seductive?

Shi Wan could guess what was going on; she was just teasing Ji Meng, since Ji Meng had waited at home from afternoon until evening and had made more than a dozen phone calls without getting through.

I almost thought she had an accident on her way back, so I called Lu Jingyan to ask about Zhao Zhilin and Mengmeng.

Lu Jingyan's reply was that they were busy and that it was best not to go looking for them.

Shi Wan was about to say something when she suddenly remembered something and stopped talking. So she waited in the apartment from day to night until Ji Meng came over.
