Chapter 77

Chapter 77

Ling Yin saw that Qu Xing didn't look like he was going to do anything, but rather like he was going to seek revenge, and the hand on his wrist was held tightly.

He dragged her back to the room. Qu Xing pushed Ling Yin onto the sofa and said angrily, "From now on, you are not allowed to leave this room until you get rid of these things on you!"

“…”

Ling Yin lowered his eyes and glanced at himself, then looked up with a smile: "Oh."

The phone in Qu Xing's hand suddenly made some chaotic noises, followed by a raised male voice: "It's okay, it's okay, Mom! We're just talking in private, don't come over!"

Qu Xing's face was still irritated as he held up his phone. Seeing Ling Yin glance at him, he introduced himself, "My childhood friend Yudun. We were just talking on the phone."

Meng Hui almost heard Qu Xing's lewd words. Yu Dun, still in shock, said, "What do you mean? Qu Xing, you're going too far."

Qu Xing turned around and sat on the sofa, then stood up with a hiss: "Shouldn't you be at school? Why are you at home?"

"I have fewer classes this semester, so I took a few weekends." Yu Dun answered subconsciously, then realized, "I'm asking you a question!"

Qu Xing was puzzled: "How did I go too far?"

Yu Dun lowered his voice and shouted, "You're not going too far! How long have you been with Feng Shen? Why didn't you tell me?"

Qu Xing seemed to react and said guiltily: "Oh..."

Yu Dun: "Oh shit!"

Qu Xing sat on Ling Yin's legs with her thighs, and shrank into his arms uneasily: "I'm sorry..."

Yu Dun was choked by his lightning-fast apology, unable to lose his temper. But he was still very concerned: "Then tell me, why didn't you tell me?"

Ling Yin looked at the person in his arms with amusement. This childhood friend was obviously very important to him. Qu Xing seemed afraid that he would be angry. He glanced at him with his big eyes guiltily, then turned back to staring at the phone interface in deep thought, as if trying to think of an excuse to make the person on the other side not angry.

After thinking for a long time, Qu Xing finally said frankly, "I forgot..."

"You forgot!" Yu Dun was particularly excited for some reason.

Qu Xing advised: "Can you not be angry? Now you know."

"Forgot!" Yu Dun repeated.

Qu Xing frowned slightly, sensing the unusual disappointment in Yu Dun's tone.

Didn't I tell him that I was in a relationship? Why is he reacting so strongly?

Qu Xing coaxed, "I'll make you something delicious when I get back this time."

Yu Dun was silent. After a while, he said, as if squeezing out of his lungs, "Qu Xing, you're just like that."

Qu Xing was confused and asked, "What?"

Yu Dun: "He looked around and talked about something else."

Qu Xing: "...What?"

Yu Dun said nothing.

Qu Xing frowned and asked, "What do you mean by evasive? I already answered you, didn't I? I really just forgot. It's not a big deal."

Yu Dun remained silent. His breathing grew heavier, and his mood was clearly off.

Qu Xing was even more puzzled: "What's wrong with you?"

"What's wrong with me?" Yu Dun's tone was strange: "Should I ask you what's wrong?"

Qu Xing: “Ah?”

Yu Dun suppressed his emotions and said, "Then can you tell me why you forgot?"

Qu Xing was confused by his question and felt a little panicked for some reason: "I just... didn't remember it."

Yu Dun: "But you weren't like this before."

Qu Xing: "What on earth are you..."

"Half a year ago." Yu Dun added.

Qu Xing: “…”

Yu Dun tried his best to control himself, but his tone still became uncontrollably anxious: "Think about how you've been spending the past six months. You think of yourself as a completely carefree single person, don't you?"

Qu Xing's usually clear mind was confused by Yu Dun's few words: "...Am I like this?"

"Don't you know what's going on?" Yu Dun's voice suddenly became louder: "Don't you feel anything at all?"

He sounded genuinely angry, ignoring Ling Yin's presence as he began to list his crimes through the screen: "You took such a long hiatus, and you didn't even tell us whether you were going back to play. Not only did you get tricked by Qu Hongfei into going abroad, and then you got locked up, but I only found out about signing with DL from watching the entertainment news! You never tell us what's going on at the base, you don't even celebrate your birthday with us, and you never contact us. I'm asking you, did you faint twice? Huh? Why didn't you tell us? What do you mean? Are you removing yourself from us? You're so outrageous, and you don't even feel anything! Or do you feel something, and you're doing it on purpose!"

Every word of Yu Dun's "crime" was true. Qu Xing was a little dazed, surprised to find that he was actually like this. But if Yu Dun hadn't said it, he might not have thought it was a big deal. Just when he was about to attribute all this to the fact that he got carried away with his new life after signing the DL, Yu Dun suddenly said:

"Are you still blaming us?"

“…”

A heavy hammer struck down. Something he had always avoided was lightly revealed in a single sentence. Qu Xing seemed oblivious to it, a moment of confusion flashing across his eyes. Then he clamped his lips together, his entire body stiffening, as if he were trying desperately to suppress something. He said nothing.

Silence fell on both ends of the line. Yu Dun waited for his response, but Qu Xing was speechless. Ling Yin felt the fingers on his shoulder curl slightly. These words stirred up a fog of mystery he didn't understand. He glanced at Qu Xing, but saw no emotion in him.

The voice on the other end of the phone actually had a hint of tears in it, "Qu Xing."

Qu Xing lowered his eyes.

Yu Dun: "I don't mean to ask you to forgive anyone, but can you please not blame me as well?"

Yu Dun: "I didn't lie to you."

Qu Xing: “…”

Yu Dun: "You can blame anyone, blame my mom, blame my dad, blame my grandma..."

The sound stopped abruptly.

Ling Yin looked at Qu Xing's finger still on the hang-up button in surprise. A family conflict that had just broken out was cut off so casually by Qu Xing.

He seemed to have been drained of all his strength by the next few words. He held the phone weakly, lowered his head, closed his eyes slightly, and his breathing was so light that it was almost imperceptible.

Ling Yin held him gently, the person in his arms seemed to have become a weightless doll, which would break if touched and fall apart if blown. He didn't dare to move.

He didn't know what Qu Xing was thinking. If Xingxing and the other person were truly inseparable, then that was a little strange. He wasn't supposed to be so emotionally cold and insensitive. The conversation he had with his cousin at the celebration party two days ago had been so natural. The strange thing was, it was so natural, like a family, yet Qu Xing hadn't noticed anything his childhood friend had said, as if he hadn't even remembered he had a family.

How could I not remember it?

This is so weird.

According to Yu Dun, Qu Xing hadn't been like this six months ago. So something must have happened to cause this change. But before Yu Dun asked, "Are you still blaming us?", Xing Xing himself seemed unaware of the reason for this change.

And Yu Dun’s words “I didn’t lie to you”.

It’s a lie again.

What exactly was deceived?

Why don’t the stars even want to listen?

Qu Xing sat quietly for a while, and finally raised his eyes. There was a blankness in his eyes, similar to that of Cun Ziying.

"Xingxing?!" Ling Yin turned his face over in a panic.

Qu Xing was completely unaware of his panic. He just leaned back weakly and whispered, "I'm sleepy."

Before falling into a drowsy dream, Qu Xing felt the hands supporting him tremble suddenly. He rubbed his head against Ling Yin and said, "Don't worry, I'm just sleepy. I'm so tired."

Ling Yin's voice was hoarse: "Yeah."

"Go to sleep."

On the other side, Yu Dun's lips trembled, and he gasped for breath as he looked at the call interface that was hung up in his hand.

He hadn't expected to blurt it out so suddenly. His mother had always told him not to push Qu Xing, wanting to give him enough space to process it himself. So he had been trying hard to restrain himself and not show any sign of uneasiness.

Today, I just wanted to ask him when he would be back. But I accidentally overheard Qu Xing and Ling Yin's conversation, which was already so intimate that it was beyond ordinary people, and he knew nothing about it. Qu Xing hadn't thought of telling him specifically. He was like an indifferent stranger, who loved to know whether he knew or not.

In addition, he had just recently learned from DL that he had fainted twice, and he suddenly panicked. He was worried about Qu Xing, but even more than that, he felt that he had been abandoned by him.

He was so excited that he didn't control the volume. Meng Hui heard everything. She came over and wiped the tears that were sliding down Yu Dun's face. She didn't know whether they were from anger or heartache. She advised him with some discomfort: "Don't lose your temper with Xingxing."

She held Yudun's head in her arms. Yudun howled.

Meng Hui's lips trembled slightly as she repeated, "Don't lose your temper with the stars."

Yu Dun choked up and burst into tears, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry. I didn't want to lose my temper with him. I was just scared. Why did he suddenly move so far away from us? I was afraid he wanted to leave us. I really felt like he was leaving us."

Yu Dun hugged Meng Hui tightly, his voice broken in sorrow: "Does he not want us anymore?"

"No... no." Meng Hui patted her son's back and said, "Didn't we see him during the Chinese New Year? He's fine."

Yu Dun sobbed as he recalled their meeting during the New Year.

Yes, he did seem fine. The few days they spent together were no different from the previous ones, and Qu Xing didn't seem to blame anyone at all.

Yu Dun raised his face: "But I just feel that he is different."

Meng Hui: “…”

"It's not just those things, it's also about him," Yu Dun said. "I think he's wrong. I don't know what's wrong. You all say he's a good person, and he says he's a good person too, but I just don't think he's good."

"..." Meng Hui sighed. She herself felt a little helpless, but she still held her son's face, looked at him seriously and said, "It's okay, we'll wait a little longer. This period of time has been much better than the beginning."

Yu Dun nodded.

Indeed. A few months ago, I couldn't even contact them, and they wouldn't even respond when I did. They wouldn't say a word, wouldn't let me in, wouldn't let me see them in person. They were like a lost person.

Qu Xing had a bad temper since childhood, but he was easy to coax. He would vent his anger openly on you, and if you took the opportunity to apologize, he would be fine immediately.

Now, maybe he's truly heartbroken and gone mad, but he no longer loses his temper in front of you. He smiles and acts like nothing's wrong when he sees you. But you don't think he's truly forgiven you. If he gets you upset and presses you a little, like he's doing now, he'll just hang up and ignore you. He's truly at his wit's end.

Meng Hui said, "Xingxing has his own things to do. Can we give him some space? He doesn't want to mention this matter, so let's not talk about it again in the future."

Yu Dun took a deep breath and nodded.
