12. Lin Jiang's Enchantress
Shenju is having trouble sleeping.
He rested his head on his arm, his mind filled with the image of the cigarette between Lin Jiang's fingers.
Those hands seemed born to hold cigarettes; the knuckles were long and the bones were distinct. The firelight reflected on the transparent nails, giving them a faint red hue.
The bone structure hidden beneath the skin is beautiful, like the butterfly frames I used to see in shop windows when I was a child.
Shen Ju turned over, unable to sleep, the bright moonlight outside the window illuminating his thoughts.
Song Zhixu, who was above him, couldn't sleep either, making the bunk bed creak. He simply got up and leaned over the edge of the bed to look down. "Can't you sleep either?"
Shenju closed his eyes.
Song Zhixu wasn't going to let him off the hook yet. "Who called the captain today? Could it have been someone from KUG? I saw the captain's face change after he finished the call. I've never seen him like that before. He kept staring downstairs. I was worried he might jump. Hey, Shenju, do you know what I mean? It's like, I have this indescribable feeling... I suddenly feel so sorry for him."
Shen Ju opened his eyes.
Song Zhixu felt guilty when he saw his eyes. He lay back on the bed and said, "You wouldn't understand anyway, so go to sleep. We have training tomorrow."
Shen Ju couldn't sleep anymore.
But he still woke up very early the next day.
His body has developed a biological clock, and he also sleeps relatively little. While others need seven or eight hours of sleep to recover, he only needs four or five hours.
He washed up, got dressed, and went downstairs.
Lin Jiang got up even earlier than him. He was holding a coffee in one hand and a notebook in the other, leaning against the coffee machine making coffee for them.
He saw Shen Ju come downstairs and smiled at him habitually, "It's not time for training yet, aren't you going to sleep a little longer?"
Shen Ju pulled down his hat brim. "I don't sleep much."
He sat down, turned on his computer, and prepared to begin training.
Lin Jiang's voice came from behind: "Would you like something to drink? An empty stomach isn't good for your stomach."
Shen Ju paused for a moment, then subconsciously looked back at the coffee in Lin Jiang's hand. But Lin Jiang didn't give it to him; instead, he placed it on Song Zhixu's table.
"..."
Lin Jiang suddenly realized something and explained, "This isn't for you."
Shen Ju grunted in agreement and pulled his hat brim down even lower. He put on his headphones and turned up the volume. Suddenly, his hat was lifted slightly, and a bottle of milk came into view.
"Drinking coffee on an empty stomach is not good for you. You should drink milk instead."
“Also,” Lin Jiang moved his headphones away, “the hat will obstruct your vision, don’t wear it so low.”
The headphones that had been moved away were put back in their original position, but Shen Ju's heart was in turmoil.
He turned his head and saw Lin Jiang reach out to press the power button on the console. He suddenly realized that those hands were also exceptionally handsome when he was playing e-sports and holding a cigarette.
My mind was a mess. When I saw Lin Jiang online, I hesitated whether to invite him to duo queue.
Just then, a "ding" sound came from the game.
DUG_river invites you to join the team.
Single/Double row mode.
"It's still early, why don't we queue up for a couple of rounds?"
Shen Ju hummed in agreement and clicked to join.
He entered the room and saw that Lin Jiang had chosen the mid-lane role first. The next second, he heard Lin Jiang say, "How about trying the jungle role? Let's see my playstyle."
Understanding your teammates' playstyle is the most basic thing, but Lin Jiang joined OT in a very tight timeframe. Apart from playing scrims with them, he basically only played duo queue with A Deng.
The opportunity was once in a lifetime, and Shen Ju nodded without hesitation.
Suddenly, Lin Jiang's laughter came through the earphones: "Why are you just making 'uh-huh' noises and not talking to me? Are you shy?"
The horse's back was stiff.
He's a well-known trash-talker in the Chinese server, so why would Lin Jiang think he's shy?
He gripped the mouse tightly. "No, it's not because I'm shy."
Lin Jiang smiled and stopped teasing him.
He picked LeBlanc in this game and typed on his screen: "No team fight in mid lane."
I was using my main account in this game, and I was recognized as soon as I entered the game.
[Team] Void Terror: I'm your fan!!! Ah Jiang!
[Team] Adventurer: Wuhu, this match is so good, the River is taking off!
[Party] Void Fear: Looking for a friend!
[Party] Adventurer: I'd like to ask too.
[Public] Colossus of Justice: Oh my god, the other side is River?
[Public] Colossus of Justice: If I win this game, can I ask for a friend request?
[Public] The Might of Demacia: I also want to ask for...
Lin Jiang's friend slots were full eight hundred years ago; Shen Ju and the others' slots were all squeezed out on the spot.
He politely declined.
[Public] LeBlanc: It's full, thank you.
[Team] Void Terror: QAQ Is there absolutely no chance left?
[Team] Void Terror: Is it possible to remove your team's Dark Steed and make room for me? Keeping him on your list will only annoy you...
Shenju: ...
He used a smurf account in this game. This account is relatively clean; he hasn't cursed at anyone or added any friends. Generally, no one would recognize it.
I never thought this could be created.
Lin Jiang suppressed a laugh, "Chen Ju, the enemy has warded your blue buff, be careful."
"Um."
Shen Ju wasn't very good at jungling, so he focused on farming jungle monsters and spent the rest of the game observing Lin Jiang.
Actually, he often watches Lin Jiang's matches, but it's not from a first-person perspective, so it's not as intuitive.
When he was in the jungle position, he realized just how strong Lin Jiang really was.
The Colossus of Justice opposite is Galio.
This hero was chosen specifically to counter LeBlanc. He kept saying he wanted a friend spot, but in reality, he had long harbored murderous intent towards Lin Jiang.
The jungler ganked mid lane four times before reaching level 6, employing a very tricky playstyle. He managed to perfectly avoid vision every time, proving himself to be a seasoned jungler.
Under these circumstances, Lin Jiang successfully escaped four times.
Prince's EQ combo is incredibly fast without vision, so fast that most people can't react in time. Add to that EQ flash, and you can shorten the combo time and lengthen the distance.
But just as the prince made his move, Lin Jiang's LeBlanc instantly stepped back, dodging the opponent's EQ flash. He even dared to turn around and, by maintaining distance, took away half of the prince's health.
His confident counterattacks and smooth movement often made people doubt that they were not even in the same league as Lin Jiang.
The prince ganked three more times, but still couldn't catch LeBlanc.
Galio on the other side couldn't hold back anymore—
[Public] Colossus of Justice: River, tell me, how exactly do I catch you to kill you?
Lin Jiang smiled and typed—
[Public] The Deceiver: There's no way she can kill me.
In that instant, Shen Ju saw a long-lost radiance in him, just like it had been two years ago, shining brightly.
Shen Ju felt a surge of heat in his heart, and he crouched down in the bushes in the middle of the road.
Lin Jiang: "No need to wait, go farm some monsters."
Shen Ju refused to leave no matter what.
After waiting for a long minute, the enemy jungler indeed came to the mid lane again.
This time, he chose an even more tricky angle, specifically targeting Lin Jiang's last wave of minions. At the moment Lin Jiang made his move, he used the momentum of his basic attack to EQ flash once again.
I won!
Even if Lin Jiang were a god, he couldn't escape from such an angle!
"Demacia!" A roar erupted, followed by an ultimate skill!
Lin Jiang, who was still dizzy, was trapped in the prince's ultimate move. A combo instantly reduced Lin Jiang's health to 1000!
The enemy Galio activated Durand's Shield, flashed in, and instantly stunned Lin Jiang, unleashing another devastating combo—
Lin Jiang's health dropped to 150!
If it were anyone else, they would have been lying down and waiting to die long ago.
But this is a femme fatale!
And she's Lin Jiang's enchantress!
With a loud "bang," Lin Jiang conjured two enchantresses on the spot.
This is the passive skill of the Enchantress. When her health drops below the critical point, the passive skill "Mirror Flower Water Moon" will be triggered. After becoming invisible on the map for 1 second, she will create a real body that is exactly the same as herself.
Lin Jiang simultaneously manipulated his real and fake clones, causing them to escape in different directions.
In a critical moment, people will subconsciously move towards a safe place, and the opponent will immediately judge that the one moving towards the tower is the real one.
Galio charged forward without hesitation, only to realize after using his Q skill that it was fake. Meanwhile, the real LeBlanc, under Lin Jiang's control, used W to teleport into the bush, causing the enemy to lose vision.
The opposing prince had been targeting Lin Jiang the entire game, and he certainly wouldn't give up this opportunity now that he finally had one. Besides, Lin Jiang's less than 200 health points were too tempting!
Without hesitation, he chased into the bushes. Just then, a werewolf at full health suddenly jumped out, opened its blood-red maw, and brandished its sharp blade, instantly reducing his health to half.
At that moment, Lin Jiang used the second part of W to return to his original position, dealt with a basic attack and Ignite, and instantly used his ultimate to copy the W skill, teleporting into the bush again!
The prince has lost sight of him again!
Loss of vision twice.
Twice, the low-health healer escaped from his face.
This is an utter disgrace to anyone!
With less than 500 health remaining, the prince prepared to use his EQ combo to blind-snipe into the bush and take down Lin Jiang.
In the instant he passed by, Lin Jiang used his second ultimate to return to his original position, successfully dodging his EQ knock-up, instantly followed up with QAE, flashed to create distance, and took down the prince!
[System] You have slain an enemy!
After killing the person, Lin Jiang left with less than 50 health points, not forgetting to show the other side his dog tag.
Prince: !!!
Galio: ? ? ?
Where did Lin Jiang get the audacity to do this?
With less than 200 HP, how dare he go in and out of their faces twice?!
The player who had been camping Lin Jiang for the entire game but hadn't managed to get a kill and even got killed in return, was tilted and typed "GG" in the public chat.
At this moment, Shen Ju could no longer hold back and turned to look at Lin Jiang.
In a situation like that, a normal person who escapes with low health would think about how to get away, but Lin Jiang didn't.
He marked the signal to kill the prince. At first, Shen Ju thought Lin Jiang was afraid of dying. It wasn't until Lin Jiang went in and out twice that he realized Lin Jiang had always wanted to kill the other side!
Shen Ju's heart pounded wildly.
In his imagination, Lin Jiang should be a stable pillar of strength. He never thought that Lin Jiang would also become a sharp blade like himself, enjoying the thrill of licking blood from the tip of a knife.
In Lin Jiang's Buddhist-like side, he saw another side of himself that was similar to Lin Jiang's!
"I knew it! Why was this jungler always ganking me?" Lin Jiang checked the opponent's stats while heading home. "This is SNG's jungler."
SNG is a top-three team in the LPL and has always been at odds with KUG. Every time they play against KUG, their jungler goes crazy ganking Lin Jiang.
Chen Ju asked instinctively, "Do you have a grudge against him?"
"It's alright, it's just that when he first debuted, he came to KUG for a jungler interview, and I rejected him outright."
"He didn't play well?"
Lin Jiang shook his head, "No, it's because I have a better relationship with the jungler on the team, so I had to reject him."
Shen Ju: "..."
He thought Lin Jiang was the kind of person who was objective and not personal, but the result completely overturned his understanding.
