Outside a secluded rental house, the narrow alley is only about a meter wide, and the voices of neighbors can be clearly heard.

Room 602 on the sixth floor of a rental building has an uneven cement passageway outside, but the inside is a completely different world.

This is a carefully decorated pink cottage. The layout of a single room with a separate bathroom makes the space feel a bit enclosed, and the walls are covered with photos.

Upon closer inspection, the photos turned out to be candid shots of Sicheng taken on different occasions.

Each photo was taken from an extremely discreet angle, yet it perfectly captured Sicheng's figure.

From his junior high school days to now, there are photos of him running with agility, of him gazing at the sky in profile, and even a cleverly cropped group photo.

That was a photo she secretly took of them in bed together during the company's team building event last time, after Si Cheng collapsed.

In every photo of Sicheng with other people in his life, without exception, the other half of the person in the photo has been cut off.

If she hadn't appeared in the footage, those eyesores would have been cut out and discarded.

The old, boxy television in the corner of the room was playing the news, showing reports of search and rescue operations conducted by Su Wanwan's team in the coastal area. The reporter was eloquently analyzing the recent strange behavior of the new chairman.

"Slurp—!"

A woman was eating instant noodles while watching this news, as if she were watching some entertaining TV show, and she was eating with great relish.

"Hmm? It's almost seven o'clock! Ah Cheng should be at the bar soon!" She glanced at her phone and muttered to herself with delight.

She hurriedly put down the instant noodles she hadn't finished eating, walked quickly to the wardrobe, pulled out a pile of clothes, and tried them on one by one in front of the long, multi-panel mirror behind the door.

She would occasionally turn into a circle, her steps light and quick.

Finally, she chose a strapless mini dress, carefully applied exquisite makeup, and took off her glasses to put on colored contact lenses.

Looking at her refreshed self in the mirror, she smiled with satisfaction.

After putting on her high heels, she opened the door with a sweet smile on her lips, only to unexpectedly meet the gazes of several police officers.

The one in the lead was raising his hand to knock on the door.

"Ms. Sun, you are suspected of intentional homicide. Please come with us to the police station to cooperate with the investigation." The lead police officer showed his identification.

The woman, Sun Mei, glanced down at her phone, a hint of impatience flashing in her eyes. When she looked up, her expression changed to one of anxiety.

"Is there some misunderstanding? I have something urgent to attend to right now, could we go tomorrow?"

The police officers exchanged a puzzled look.

The woman in front of him acted so naturally, without any of the tension and fear that a murderer should have. She seemed more like an innocent bystander caught up in the situation.

A policeman next to him took out his phone and played a surveillance video: "Four days ago, in the evening, you appeared at Wanzhi Mountain and stayed for about an hour."

“Furthermore, we have evidence that you lured the victim to the edge of the cliff and pushed him off during that time period. Please cooperate with our investigation!” He then played Yi Yu’s video.

Sun Mei watched the video without showing any panic or rushing to defend herself. Instead, she chuckled softly.

The laughter echoed in the narrow stairwell, carrying an indescribable eeriness that sent chills down one's spine.

Several police officers became alert and kept a close eye on her every move.

"I miscalculated." Sun Mei clutched her stomach with one hand and wiped away tears of laughter with the other, her tone so flippant it was outrageous:

"I didn't expect him to be so clever; he actually recorded a video."

"What a pity about my outfit today..." Sun Mei sighed regretfully, glancing back at the photos on the wall inside the room.

"Click—" A pair of cold handcuffs were put on her wrists.

The police quickly took her away from the scene.

Inside the rented room, the bowl of instant noodles had completely cooled down and turned into a mushy mess.

The news about the search for the mountain was still playing on a loop on the television.

-----------------

When Qu Shiyao received the message, Sun Mei had already confessed to her crimes without any resistance. Instead, she made a special request—she wanted to see Qu Shiyao.

Upon hearing the news, Qu Shiyao seemed to have returned to her usual self.

While drinking her porridge, she complained about the lack of meat, which made Su Wanwan so angry that she jumped up and down, shouting that she wouldn't serve her anymore.

Shen Qingyi and Gu Yanxi, who were standing nearby, couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"You want to see me?" Qu Shiyao raised her head, swallowed the bland porridge in her mouth, stood up and said, "Okay."

She turned to Shen Qingyi and asked, "Do you want to go see her too?"

"Yes." Shen Qingyi nodded.

She had long since let go of what happened back then. Those who deserved punishment had already paid the price, and this one who had slipped through the net had now been caught. She harbored no resentment.

I still have some questions that I'd like to ask in person.

"Aren't you going to finish eating before you leave?" Su Wanwan held her bowl, looking at Qu Shiyao's still pale face with disapproval, expressing her disapproval of her behavior of potentially running away at any moment.

Qu Shiyao looked at the remaining third of the white porridge in the bowl, her face full of resistance.

"It's alright, it's alright. We'll have a nice meal out when we get back," Gu Yanxi said, trying to smooth things over between the two.

"Hmph! In her current state, it's no wonder she can't eat anything else!" Su Wanwan said, but she still put down her bowl, got up and went out with Qu Shiyao.

When they arrived at the police station, the others wanted to follow Qu Shiyao into the interrogation room, but Qu Shiyao stopped them: "I want to talk to her alone."

Seeing her resolute attitude, Shen Qingyi and the others had no choice but to sit on the bench outside and instructed her, "If anything happens, call the police next door!"

Qu Shiyao couldn't help but laugh: "If she can get close to me, then she'll be considered capable!"

Su Wanwan rolled her eyes: "It might have been okay before, but now I think she could take you down with one hand!"

Qu Shiyao glanced at Su Wanwan speechlessly.

She discovered that since she woke up, Su Wanwan had become particularly critical, almost as much as Senior Lin.

However, she generously forgave this hypocritical young lady.

When I entered the interrogation room, Sun Mei was resting her chin on her hand, looking away listlessly.

When she saw Qu Shiyao walk in, she stopped what she was doing, a smile playing on her lips as she looked at her with a leisurely air.

Qu Shiyao looked at Sun Mei in front of her, who was completely different from the one in her memory, and was slightly surprised.

Perhaps, this is her true self.

After sitting down, both fell silent.

Qu Shiyao, who had originally taken the initiative to speak with Sun Mei alone, was now just quietly looking at her, her eyes eerily calm, showing no anger or pain whatsoever when facing the enemy who killed her boyfriend.

Sun Mei had expected Qu Shiyao to lose control, go crazy, and cry, but nothing happened.

Instead, she felt like a monkey being watched, which made her irritable.

The system was also puzzled by this bizarre scene, but it wisely remained silent.

The two policemen observing from outside the window looked at each other in bewilderment.

The scene was incredibly bizarre: the murderer called the victim's girlfriend over but remained silent, and the victim's girlfriend showed no emotional reaction after entering.

“He’s dead,” Sun Mei said, breaking the silence with a smile.

"I know." Qu Shiyao felt a little thirsty and wanted to find some water but found none, so she could only straighten her posture to reply.

"Then you must have seen it in the video, right? He believed in you and defended you until his death!" Sun Mei said, her tone unconsciously becoming more forceful as she saw that Qu Shiyao's expression remained unchanged and she was even looking around.

"Yes, he loves me very much." Qu Shiyao looked at Sun Mei calmly, her tone flat and emotionless.

At that moment, Sun Mei felt like a clown, and her back teeth clenched involuntarily.

“He’s so stupid! He came all this way just because of a few text messages!” she scoffed.

Qu Shiyao thought for a moment and explained seriously, "That shouldn't be stupidity, it's probably just that I don't have enough social experience, right? I can't compare to you, you old schemer."

These words completely enraged Sun Mei!

She slammed her hands on the table, the handcuffs rattling loudly with her movement.

“He died for you! Qu Shiyao! You still haven’t found his body, have you? His body has long been eaten by the fish in the sea! Hahahaha—!” Sun Mei laughed maniacally.

Qu Shiyao looked quietly at Sun Mei, who was in a state of emotional turmoil, and asked, "You killed him. Can you tell me why you did it?"

Her tone carried genuine doubt, as if she truly did not understand Sun Mei's motives.

However, her overly calm expression was seen as blatant mockery by Sun Mei.

At this moment, Sun Mei was blinded by anger, and she slammed her hand on the table repeatedly.

If she weren't restricted in her movements, she probably would have rushed up and torn Qu Shiyao's calm face to shreds.

"What else could it be? Of course it's because you, you slut, are seducing men everywhere! One man isn't enough for you, is it? %……%#¥!#¥5¥%……@!……&!"

What followed was a string of offensive and abusive insults.

At this moment, she had long lost her delicate appearance and was cursing at Qu Shiyao like a madwoman.

"I understand." Qu Shiyao lowered her eyes, then raised them again, smiling as she leaned closer to Sun Mei and whispered:

"You're still tracking Si Cheng, aren't you? What a pity..."

"He's been going to bars every day to drown his sorrows because of my rejection. You must have seen him often, right? Well, after being with Si Cheng for so long, he's never even given you a second glance. There are so many outstanding women coming and going around him. You're a failure, whether you're a human being or a dog."

After saying that, she turned and left.

Sun Mei completely broke down after hearing these words.

"Qu Shiyao! You bitch! Stop right there!!!" she roared behind her, but she couldn't make Qu Shiyao stop in her tracks.

Stepping out of the interrogation room, Qu Shiyao thought for a moment and then said to Shen Qingyi, "Do you want to wait a while before going in?"

Shen Qingyi was puzzled, but still said, "Let's go now, we still need to eat later."

When she pushed the door open, she saw Sun Mei cursing Qu Shiyao like a madwoman and struggling desperately!

Shen Qingyi glanced back at Qu Shiyao, who was sitting comfortably on the bench outside the door, and then at Sun Mei, who looked like she was going crazy. For a moment, she didn't know what expression to make.
