Siege

Siege

Back in her office, Qu Shiyao yawned, skillfully adjusted her office chair to recline mode, and slumped into it.

Jin Yuxi was taking a nap at the table when she heard the noise. She looked up and saw Qu Shiyao returning. She asked with surprise:

"Shiyao? Where did you go? I didn't see you when I got back. You weren't secretly making some extra money behind my back, were you?"

How could you think of me like that?

Qu Shiyao pulled a thin air-conditioning blanket from the drawer and wrapped herself in it, while mumbling her rebuttal:

"When did I ever sneak around? I've always earned extra money openly and honestly, okay?"

"So you really made a profit again?!" Jin Yuxi was instantly filled with regret and pounded her chest in frustration.

"Why didn't I go to the bathroom with you?! I've missed out so much!"

Seeing her heartbroken expression, Qu Shiyao glanced at her lazily:

"Don't even think about it. This time, we've encountered some pretty aggressive ones. If you go over there, you'll just be a hostage and end up paying money."

"Huh? You guys are fighting???"

Jin Yuxi instantly suppressed her envy, sprang to her feet, rushed to Qu Shiyao's side, and reached out to lift the blanket to check on her.

"Where are you injured? How serious is it?"

"Slap!" Qu Shiyao slapped her hand away without any politeness.

"I'll politely decline. You're not my type. I prefer men!"

As she spoke, she pressed the blanket tightly to both sides, wrapping herself up like a silkworm cocoon, with only her head showing.

Just then, Lin Weiwei, Wang Qian, and Zhang Li returned from their meal. As soon as they entered the door, they heard Qu Shiyao's words and all cast meaningful glances at Jin Yuxi.

"I was just checking if you were hurt! Is it really necessary?" Jin Yuxi quickly explained, trying to protect her precarious reputation.

Injured? In a fight?

The other three immediately perked up their ears, and while they appeared calm and composed as they sat back down at their workstations, their attention was actually focused on the silkworm cocoon in the corner.

"How could they possibly get close to me?" Qu Shiyao spoke in an extremely irritating voice from within the silkworm cocoon, her words filled with the tone of "how lonely it is to be invincible."

Okay, I see, it's another one-sided beating.

Jin Yuxi breathed a sigh of relief and stopped asking questions. Instead, she patted Qu Shiyao's "pupa":

"Should we go home together after get off work these next few days?"

Qu Shiyao leaned back abruptly, her voice filled with exaggerated surprise: "What do you want to do? You're not thinking of dividing the spoils, are you?"

Jin Yuxi's lips twitched: "...Is there anything else in your eyes besides money?"

"Hmm..." Qu Shiyao actually thought about it seriously for a moment, then raised her chin and gestured, "I also want you to draw the curtains over there."

The topic jumped so quickly that Jin Yuxi didn't react in time, only to see Qu Shiyao pull an eye mask out of the cocoon and put it on.

Well, maybe he's just tired from fighting and needs to catch up on sleep.

Helpless, Jin Yuxi had no choice but to turn around and draw the curtains to block out the glaring sunlight.

As I sat back down at my workstation, Zhang Li, who was in front of me, immediately turned around and looked at me questioningly.

Jin Yuxi could only shake her head and mouth silently: They fought, she won, they slept together, but she knew nothing about the specific details.

As soon as it was time to leave work in the afternoon, Jin Yuxi, still feeling uneasy, went to Qu Shiyao's workstation again:

"Shiyao, are you sure it's okay for you to go back alone?"

Lin Weiwei and her companions, who had already packed their things and were about to leave, paused subconsciously upon hearing this.

"Hehe~ Of course, no problem!"

Qu Shiyao slung her bag over her shoulder with a playful grin, then looked at Lin Weiwei and the others at the door with a surprised expression, as if she had discovered a new continent:

"Huh? Are you guys worried about me?"

"Ha! You wish!" Lin Weiwei immediately raised her chin, looked down at her with her nostrils, and spoke in an extremely arrogant tone.

"I just don't want you to get beaten up too badly by those guys and embarrass our 66th floor assistant team tomorrow!"

After saying that, she tossed her hair and walked away in her high heels.

Wang Qian showed no expression, but nodded slightly to Qu Shiyao as a greeting, and then quickly followed Lin Weiwei.

Zhang Li smiled and said gently, "Be careful!" before leaving.

"Then I'm off too!" Jin Yuxi said, grabbing her bag as everyone left, but turning back just before stepping out the door.

"Shiyao, call me anytime if you need any heavy lifting! Don't be shy about this delicate flower! I just ask that the rich lady give me some compensation for my hard work!"

"You unfilial son! Get out of here!" Qu Shiyao clutched her violently heaving chest, as if she had a heart attack from anger at her unfilial son, Jin Yuxi.

Jin Yuxi chuckled and slipped away quickly, her voice drifting back down the corridor: "I'm online 24/7! Fair prices!"

"roll--!"

[Host, do you think anyone else will come to feed kills later?]

The system was very satisfied with the unexpected extra income it had earned today, and spent the whole afternoon happily counting its earnings.

After deducting the 70,000 yuan given to Zhang Li and the 30,000 yuan given to Gao Huixin, the net profit was still quite substantial!

In just one day, the host earned 600,000!

The system is eager to try, hoping to earn over a million today. When the host completes the mission and returns to the real world, the amount will be automatically converted.

Ten thousand a day, while not exactly wealthy, allows the host to live a relatively easy and happy life.

After arriving in this world, the system discovered that it was of little use to the host. Apart from helping the host with work, blocking the camera when the host did something shady, and acting as an alarm clock in the morning, it was basically not helpful at all.

So now it needs to add another job—financial management, which is also a kind of money management!

In just one day, the host earned 600,000! I heard that this is a very desirable job in human society.

"Heads?" Qu Shiyao packed her things, stuffed the last of her snacks into her bag, and asked uncertainly:

"Maybe...there will be more?"

Judging from the behavior of those two people this afternoon and the radicalism of the group behind them, this matter is probably not over yet.

The warning in the afternoon was more about wanting to resolve the issue quickly, so as to prevent it from popping up endlessly and annoying people in the future.

She strolled over to the parking area behind the company building, ready to ride her beloved electric scooter home.

However, what she saw made her raise an eyebrow.

Her electric scooter seat had been slashed open with a sharp object, leaving a long gash and exposing the foam inside.

【Seriously? That's so childish!】

The system immediately exploded in anger, unleashing a torrent of abuse: "Go ahead and use thumbtacks! What kind of hero scratches a seat cushion?!"

"Put in thumbtacks? That changes the nature of the problem." Qu Shiyao scoffed, reaching out to touch the edge of the crack.

"That's intentional assault, it'll be investigated immediately. Scratching a seat cushion... at most it's property damage, the amount isn't large, it's hard to pursue. It's disgusting, and cheap."

What are they after? Just to disgust you?

The system still didn't understand. This was on a completely different level from the humiliating water-splashing incident in the restroom that afternoon; it was far too childish.

"What's the point?" Qu Shiyao had barely finished speaking when her phone vibrated.

She took it out and saw that it was a text message from an unknown number.

A knowing smile played on her lips. "Isn't that what you're after?"

The system leaned over to take a look, and the text message read:

[Qu Shiyao, we are very sorry about what happened today! We hope to have a proper discussion and explanation with you. Could you please come to the garbage recycling station at the corner of the back gate of the company? We will wait for you here.]

If the electric scooter is fine, Qu Shiyao will most likely ignore this trap that shows a lack of common sense.

But now that the seat cushion is scratched, she has to go over there to take a look and ask for compensation.

This is clearly a trap!

The system believes that whoever came up with this idea must have carefully studied the host's personality.

Rebellious, obsessed with money, and a bit lawless.

"Let's go." Qu Shiyao put her phone back in her pocket, put her hands in her coat pockets, and swayed towards the back door.

"Let's see if this last order today can push our daily revenue to a million."

As she strolled leisurely to the designated recycling station, the setting sun had already painted the sky a dusky yellow.

The surroundings were empty and deserted, with only a few large, stained garbage cans emitting an unpleasant odor.

Suddenly, a series of chaotic footsteps sounded from behind and in front.

Qu Shiyao turned around and saw seven burly men wearing masks blocking her way, with two more men appearing in front of her.

They were all carrying weapons, and two or three of them were even carrying long, gleaming iron rods.

"Tsk, is that all? A little girl? And she tells us to be careful?"

A man looked Qu Shiyao up and down, noticing her slender figure and the ordinary work bag she was carrying, and immediately showed a contemptuous expression.

"It's always better to be careful. But seriously... that face is really pretty, I wonder if it'll feel good later..."

Another man spoke in a flippant tone, his lewd gaze sweeping over Qu Shiyao.

The others immediately let out a knowing, lewd laugh, their eyes giving off an extremely unsettling feeling.

"Hehe...hahaha..."

Qu Shiyao also laughed, her initial low chuckle gradually turning into undisguised mockery, her eyes filled with contempt and disdain for these people.

This reaction was completely unexpected; the laughter stopped abruptly, and the faces of the group instantly turned ugly.

No one has ever dared to be so arrogant when they blocked them! This is clearly a blatant provocation!

"The person behind this sent you bunch of trash?" Qu Shiyao launched into a mocking mode, her tone extremely arrogant.

"Is there no one else available?" she said, calmly hanging her bag on a crooked wooden shelf next to her, then bending down to pick up a discarded wooden stick about a meter long from the ground.

Then, she took out her phone, skillfully turned on the video recording function, set it up on top of a relatively clean trash can, and pointed the camera at the group of people.

The man in the lead, seeing that she dared to record him, frowned, said no more, and abruptly waved his hand:

"Get her! Give her a good beating! In a minute, she'll be kneeling in front of us, crying and begging for mercy!"

Nine men immediately brandished sticks and pounced on Qu Shiyao with ferocious expressions!

Under the dim glow of the setting sun, in front of an abandoned garbage dump, a seemingly unequal duel suddenly erupts!
