Chapter 1: Hidden Hints
Sunlight streamed through the office building's glass windows, illuminating Ayu's desk. She was focused on the documents at hand, trying to immerse herself in her work and enjoy this hard-won peace. However, this tranquility was soon shattered.
Qin Man, swaying gracefully in her high heels, walked to A Yu's workstation, a faint smile playing on her lips. She gently tapped the desk. "A Yu, busy?" A Yu looked up and, seeing Qin Man, instinctively felt a surge of wariness, but still maintained a polite smile. "Yes, I have something to take care of quickly. Did you need something?"
Qin Man pulled up a chair next to her and sat down gracefully, saying casually, "Hey, I've heard some things about our business district from the past lately. It's really complicated, with all sorts of business disputes and a lot of family businesses involved." Ayu's heart skipped a beat, but she maintained her composure, only slightly pausing her hand as she sorted through the documents. "Oh, really? That's all in the past. Let's just focus on our work now."
Qin Man, seemingly oblivious to A Yu's unease, continued, "However, some family secrets, no matter how deeply hidden, will eventually surface. For example, some people may seem ordinary, but their true identities are quite complex, and they might be discovered by everyone at any time." After saying this, Qin Man gave A Yu a meaningful look.
Ayu was startled, sensing that Qin Man's words were directed at her, but she dared not show it. She could only feign composure and force a dry laugh, "Haha, that's someone else's business, it's none of our concern." Qin Man stood up and patted Ayu's shoulder, "That's true, just chatting. You go ahead and do your work, I'll be going now." Watching Qin Man's departing figure, Ayu's palms were sweating profusely. She knew that Qin Man's words were not just casual conversation; the deeper meaning behind them planted a seed of doubt in her heart.
After work, Ayu walked home, Qin Man's words echoing in her mind. She began to worry that her hidden identity might be exposed. She feared that if it were, the peaceful life she had finally achieved would be completely shattered, and the budding romance between her and the male lead might vanish.
Back home, the male lead wasn't there yet. Ayu sat on the sofa, staring blankly ahead, her mind a jumble of emotions. She didn't know how to deal with this potential crisis, or even whether she should tell the male lead about it.
Chapter Two: Inner Struggle
That night, Ayu lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. One moment she was thinking about Qin Man's meaningful gaze and words, and the next she was recalling all the little moments she had shared with the male lead, those warm moments that she really didn't want to lose.
The next day at work, Ayu was absent-minded and made several small mistakes. When her colleagues asked her if she wasn't feeling well, she just forced a smile and said she was fine. During her lunch break, she went to the company rooftop alone, hoping to get some fresh air and clear her head.
Looking down at the bustling street below, Ayu fell into deep thought. She felt like she was walking a tightrope, one wrong step and she would fall into the abyss. She considered investigating how much Qin Man knew, but she was afraid of alerting him and making things worse.
Meanwhile, the male protagonist was busy handling an important project at the company and didn't notice anything unusual about Ayu. He only felt that Ayu seemed a little quiet these past two days, but thinking that she might be too tired from work, he planned to take her out to relax after he finished his work.
After agonizing for several days, Ayu decided not to tell the male lead about it yet. She planned to keep a close eye on things secretly and see what Qin Man would do next. However, her anxiety grew stronger every day, and she became increasingly cautious, constantly on guard whether at the company or at home, fearing that someone might suddenly reveal her identity.
Chapter 3: An Unexpected Discovery
Over the weekend, Ayu made an excuse to go shopping with friends, but her real intention was to find an opportunity to investigate clues related to her family in past business disputes. She went to the city's old commercial district, where there were many old office buildings and archives, and she thought she might find something useful there.
In a dilapidated archive room, Ayu searched for a long time before finally finding some documents related to the business dispute from many years ago. Although the records on the documents were somewhat blurry, she still recognized the name of her family business and the intricate relationship between it and the male protagonist's family. The more she read, the more alarmed she became; the entanglements of that time were far more serious than she had imagined.
Just as Ayu was about to leave the archives, she suddenly heard footsteps outside the door. She quickly hid behind a bookshelf. Through the crack, she saw Qin Man and a strange man walk in. Qin Man said, "You have to hurry up with that matter. You must find an opportunity to completely expose Ayu's identity so that we can gain the upper hand in this business competition." The man replied, "Don't worry, I've arranged everything. As soon as the time is right, she'll be finished."
Ayu covered her mouth, afraid of making a sound and being discovered. Her heart was pounding. She hadn't expected Qin Man to be plotting against her, and with such ruthless methods. After they left, Ayu emerged from her hiding place, her face deathly pale and her hands trembling.
She knew she couldn't just sit idly by any longer; she had to find a way to stop it all. But she felt powerless and didn't know where to begin. She rushed home, determined to tell the male lead this time, no matter what, because this was no longer a problem she could solve alone.
