Her feet felt as if they were nailed firmly to the ground by heavy shackles, unable to move an inch. Memories of her time with Ah Yu flashed through her mind—those sweet, dreamlike moments—intertwined with the suffocating pain before her, like a terrible nightmare binding her tightly, plunging her into an abyss of suffering from which she could not escape.
In the pool, Ah Yu looked at Zhong Hua's distraught and unsteady state, and a sudden wave of panic and guilt washed over him. His eyes were filled with complex emotions; he wanted to explain, but all words seemed so pale and powerless at this moment, and he didn't know where to begin.
Lin Wanqing, however, curled her lips into a subtle, almost imperceptible smile of smugness. That smile, like a cold star twinkling in the night sky, was chilling and calculating. Her eyes radiated an air of absolute confidence, as if everything before her was merely a carefully orchestrated play, and everyone was under her control, following her predetermined script, step by step, toward the abyss.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment, becoming a cold statue. Zhong Hua stood silently before the floor-to-ceiling window, her eyes vacant and filled with despair as she gazed at the swimming pool, tears welling up in her eyes, yet stubbornly refusing to fall. The image of Ah Yu and Lin Wanqing in the pool was like a jarring and cruel photograph, deeply imprinted in her mind, becoming an indelible wound in her heart, accompanying her through this long and dark time, as she alone endured endless pain and torment.
In this corridor where silence and chaos intertwine, a drama about love, betrayal, and pain unfolds like a storm. Zhong Hua, this pitiful woman caught in the vortex of fate, is left wondering where she will go. The road ahead is shrouded in a thick fog, filled with unknowns and fears.
Zhong Hua stood there, stunned, her thoughts racing like wild horses. She remembered that afternoon when she first met Ah Yu; sunlight filtered through the dappled leaves, casting dappled shadows on them, their eyes meeting, and the world seemed to stand still. From then on, they shared countless beautiful moments, supporting and encouraging each other, planning their bright future together. She had believed they would walk hand in hand through life, but the scene before her shattered her illusions completely.
At this moment, the others in the corridor were also attracted by the series of sounds, casting curious glances. But Zhong Hua seemed to be in another world, completely unaware of everything around her. Her eyes were only on the two people in the pool, and her heart was filled with the pain of betrayal.
Ah Yu looked at Zhong Hua, his heart filled with conflict. He wanted to swim to the shore immediately and explain to Zhong Hua that it was all a misunderstanding and that there was nothing between him and Lin Wanqing. However, Lin Wanqing seemed to deliberately prevent him from explaining, gently twisting her body and saying coquettishly, "Ah Yu, I'm still a little scared. Can you teach me again?"
Hearing Lin Wanqing's words, Ah Yu felt a surge of annoyance, but he couldn't immediately shake her off. He could only convey his anxiety and helplessness to Zhong Hua with his eyes, hoping she would understand his feelings. However, Zhong Hua was already blinded by pain and couldn't decipher the meaning in Ah Yu's eyes.
Zhong Hua's body trembled slightly, and anger began to rise within her. She couldn't understand why Ah Yu, who had once cherished her so much, was so close to Lin Wanqing. She felt like someone abandoned by the whole world, lonely and helpless.
Finally, Zhong Hua slowly closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself down. When she opened her eyes again, there was a hint of determination in them. She told herself that she couldn't be defeated like this; she had to find out what was really going on.
She bent down to pick up the file folder from the floor. Although some of the documents were soaked with coffee, she didn't care. Clutching the folder tightly, she turned and walked towards the CEO's office. With each step, the sound of her high heels clicking on the floor seemed to testify to her unwavering resolve.
The moment she turned away, Ah Yu's heart tightened. He knew that Zhong Hua's current calm was merely the calm before the storm, and a more intense conflict might be brewing. Lin Wanqing, watching Zhong Hua's departing figure, smiled even more broadly; she seemed to see the dawn of her plan's success.
Zhong Hua arrived at the CEO's office, knocked gently, and after hearing a "Come in" from inside, she pushed the door open and went in. The CEO, sitting behind his large desk, frowned slightly upon seeing Zhong Hua's disheveled appearance and asked, "Zhong Hua, what happened to you?"
Zhong Hua took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice calm: "President, there was an accident in the corridor just now, but that won't affect my work report." As she spoke, she placed the file folder on the table and began to organize the documents that had been soaked with coffee.
The president looked at Zhong Hua, somewhat puzzled, but didn't ask further. He knew Zhong Hua was a very strong-willed employee, and since she didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't force her. So, he nodded and said, "Alright, begin the report."
Zhong Hua began her report, her voice clear and strong, her thoughts flowing smoothly. However, deep down, she couldn't forget what she had just witnessed. Every word she spoke felt like tearing open a newly scabbed wound, the pain unbearable.
After the report, the president affirmed Zhong Hua's work and offered some suggestions. Zhong Hua took notes, then said, "President, if there's nothing else, I'll head out." The president nodded, and Zhong Hua turned and left the office.
