Episode 105 - Anonymous Delivery

The Pink USB Flash Drive Scandal: A Mystery

Night fell like a heavy black cloth, completely enveloping the bustling city. The colorful neon lights flickered in the embrace of the night, but they could not penetrate the increasingly heavy gloom in Zhong Hua's heart.

Zhong Hua sat alone on the sofa in her apartment, the air around her seemingly frozen. On the coffee table, a pink delivery box lay quietly, its delicate shape and pale pink ribbon tied like a girl's bow, yet it held an eerie quality in the dim light. Zhong Hua's gaze was fixed on it, a nameless unease rising within her.

After hesitating for a long time, she slowly reached out, gently untied the ribbon, and opened the box. Inside was a small USB drive with the words "Love Wedding" printed on its casing. Seeing this familiar design, Zhong Hua's heart skipped a beat—it was the same gift Lin Wanqing had given her last week.

She took a deep breath and, with trembling hands, inserted the USB drive into the computer. The computer screen flickered for a moment, then the scene switched to the pool changing room. Ah Yu was standing behind Lin Wanqing, reaching out to adjust her swimsuit straps. Lin Wanqing tilted her head slightly, a faint smile playing on her lips. The camera suddenly zoomed in, and the bright red mark on Ah Yu's wrist was particularly glaring, like a hideous wound, stinging Zhong Hua's eyes.

Zhong Hua's fingertips trembled uncontrollably, as if she were being electrocuted. She kept telling herself that something must be wrong, that this couldn't be real. However, an anonymous message suddenly popped up in the lower right corner of her computer screen: "They're getting engaged soon." Those words, like a sharp blade, pierced straight into her heart.

"No, it's impossible..." Zhong Hua murmured softly, her voice filled with despair and helplessness. Her eyes were vacant, staring intently at the screen, tears welling up in her eyes, threatening to spill over at any moment.

Memories flooded her mind like a tide. She remembered her first meeting with Ah Yu, the sunlight shining on him, his smile like the warmest spring breeze, gently caressing her heart; she remembered strolling together through the streets and alleys, sharing the little things in life, those joyful laughs still echoing in her ears; she remembered countless warm moments, when they leaned on each other, promising to walk hand in hand through life.

But now, the unbearable scene before her eyes and the cold, anonymous message shattered her beautiful illusions. She didn't want to believe that Ah Yu would betray her, betray their relationship. But the evidence was right in front of her, forcing her to face this cruel reality.

"Why...why did this happen..." Zhong Hua's voice was choked with sobs as she held her head in her hands, her body trembling slightly.

Suddenly, a gust of wind swept in from outside the window, howling and battering against the glass, as if playing a mournful dirge for Zhong Hua's sorrow. Inside the apartment, only Zhong Hua's heavy breathing and the hum of the computer's cooling fan could be heard.

After a long while, Zhong Hua slowly raised her head, a resolute look in her eyes. She couldn't give up like this; she had to find Ah Yu and get to the bottom of things. She believed their relationship couldn't be so fragile; there must be some misunderstanding.

She quickly got up, hastily threw on a coat, grabbed her phone, and rushed out the door. The lights in the hallway were dim and flickering, as if they might go out at any moment, just like her crumbling love.

Zhong Hua jogged downstairs, hailed a taxi, and anxiously gave them the address of Ah Yu's apartment. The taxi sped through the night, the street scenes outside the window flashing by like phantoms, but Zhong Hua had no heart to appreciate them. Her heart had already flown to Ah Yu's side, her mind filled with the questions she would ask him when she saw him.

"Master, can you go a little faster?" Zhong Hua urged impatiently.

"Young lady, this is the fastest I've gone. It's so late at night, safety should be the priority," the driver replied.

Finally, the taxi stopped in front of Ah Yu's apartment building. Zhong Hua paid the fare and rushed to the apartment door. She entered the access code, and the door slowly opened. The familiar atmosphere of the hallway rushed out, but at this moment it felt utterly alien to her.

She arrived at Ah Yu's door, took a deep breath, raised her hand, hesitated for a moment, and finally knocked. "Knock knock knock..." The knocking sounded particularly loud in the quiet hallway, each sound seeming to strike her heart.

After a long while, the door finally opened slowly. Ah Yu appeared in the doorway, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes when he saw Zhong Hua, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Zhong Hua, what brings you here?" Ah Yu's voice was flat, devoid of any emotion.

Zhong Hua stared at Ah Yu, her eyes full of questioning: "Tell me, what exactly happened?" As she spoke, she showed Ah Yu the screen on the USB drive on her phone.

Ah Yu glanced at her phone screen, her expression changing slightly, but she quickly regained her composure: "It's not what you see, it's all a misunderstanding."

"Misunderstanding? Then tell me, what is a misunderstanding? And this, they said you two are getting engaged, is that a misunderstanding too?" Zhong Hua's voice rose involuntarily, tears welling up in her eyes.

Ah Yu was silent for a moment, then reached out to pull Zhong Hua away, but she dodged. "Zhong Hua, let me explain, things are complicated, I..."

"Complex? What's so complicated about it? Just tell me, is this true? Are you getting engaged to her?" Zhong Hua interrupted Ah Yu, her eyes full of expectation, hoping he would give a negative answer.

Ah Yu opened her mouth, but didn't know how to answer. Just then, Lin Wanqing's voice came from inside the house: "Ah Yu, who is it?"

Hearing that voice, Zhong Hua's heart sank completely. She glanced at Ah Yu, her eyes filled with despair and anger, then turned and ran.
