Chapter Four: Unexpected Clues
After a period of careful investigation, Ayu stumbled upon a childhood photo of herself while tidying up old belongings. The photo was slightly yellowed and worn at the edges, but the image was still clearly visible. In the photo, she was standing in front of a luxurious villa, a pure smile on her face, while a middle-aged man with a blurred face stood beside her. The man's hand seemed to be on her shoulder, suggesting a close relationship.
Holding the photo, Ayu was filled with doubt. She carefully examined the villa in the picture and noticed a unique symbol on the villa's gate. Relying on her memory, she searched for various villa pictures online. After some research and comparison, she finally confirmed that the symbol was indeed the logo of the old headquarters of Ruifeng Group.
This discovery thrilled Ayu, further solidifying her belief that she had a close connection with the Ruifeng Group. The photograph acted as a key, unlocking the door to her continued investigation. She eagerly thought of the retired employee again, feeling she needed to obtain more information from him.
Through a friend's introduction, Ayu finally managed to get back on the phone with the retired employee. The retired employee's tone was still very cautious. He lowered his voice and said, "Young lady, I told you last time that this matter is not simple. There was a fierce power struggle within Ruifeng Group back then, involving some unknown secrets, and these secrets seem to be closely related to your identity. But I really can't discuss it with you in detail over the phone now; it's too dangerous. We need to meet in person."
Ayu quickly replied, "I understand. When and where would be a good time to meet?" The retired employee paused for a moment, then said, "The day after tomorrow at three in the afternoon, at that small coffee shop next to the abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. It's a relatively secluded place with fewer people, so it's safer. Please be careful and don't let anyone target you again." Ayu hurriedly agreed. After hanging up, she felt both excited and nervous, silently praying that nothing would go wrong during their meeting.
Chapter 5: Another Crisis
Ayu had been eagerly awaiting the day she was to meet with the retired employee. She started preparing early in the morning, disguising herself carefully, wearing a hat and sunglasses, and dressed in inconspicuous clothes. She also chose a different mode of transportation to travel to the outskirts of the city. The entire way, she remained on edge, constantly watching for any suspicious individuals around her.
However, shortly after she hung up the phone with the retired employee, she received an anonymous text message. The message was brief but carried a strong sense of threat: "You shouldn't continue. This is your final warning." Ayu stared at the message, her palms sweating, her mind in turmoil.
On the one hand, she knew that this meeting might bring her great danger, since the other party had already issued such a warning, and might have already set a trap for her at the meeting place; but on the other hand, she really didn't want to miss this rare opportunity to obtain key information, which might be her last hope to uncover the mystery of her origins.
Ayu gritted her teeth and decided to risk going anyway. She thought that as long as she was careful enough, she might be able to avoid danger and successfully learn the truth from the retired employee.
When she arrived at the small café next to the abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city at the agreed time, the retired employee was already sitting in a corner. Seeing Ayu come in, he quickly gestured for her to sit down, then cautiously looked around to make sure there was nothing amiss before slowly beginning to recount what had happened back then.
Chapter Six: Shocking Inside Story
The retired employee whispered to Ayu, "Young lady, the chairman of Ruifeng Group had a daughter back then, but she disappeared after an incident. There's been no news of her for so many years, but judging from your appearance and the things you've been asking about, all the signs indicate that you might be that missing heiress. The power struggle back then was too intense, involving the leakage of trade secrets and unfair competition. Some people, in order to cover up their crimes, orchestrated the disappearance of the chairman's daughter, hoping to use it to undermine the decision-making level of Ruifeng Group."
Ayu's eyes widened in shock. She never imagined that her background held such a thrilling story. Just as she was about to ask something, the retired employee continued, "And what's more, there's a mysterious organization secretly controlling all of this. They're incredibly powerful and ruthless; they've done countless shady things over the years. I only noticed some clues by chance, but I dared not speak out. After all, getting involved with them would have dire consequences."
As Ayu was still reeling from the shocking news, a screeching sound of brakes came from outside the café, followed by a flurry of footsteps. The retired employee's face paled, and he shouted, "Oh no! Run!" Ayu and he quickly got up and ran towards the back door of the café.
Chapter Seven: The Chase of Life and Death
Ayu and the retired employee frantically ran towards the back door. As soon as they stepped outside, they saw a group of men in black rushing towards them, clearly targeting them. Ayu's heart leaped into her throat, and her legs went weak. But there was no time to hesitate; she could only run desperately after the retired employee.
The man in black pursued relentlessly, and a thrilling chase ensued in the narrow back alley. The retired employee, being elderly, became breathless after running for a while, but he gritted his teeth, glancing back every now and then, trying to find a way to lead Ayu to a more complex and easier hiding place.
