Episode 116 - On-set Show

Storm under the spotlight

Chapter 1: The Diamond Ring Under the Spotlight

In the lavish and dazzling banquet hall, spotlights flashed like stars, illuminating the entire space as bright as day. Lin Wanqing, dressed in an exquisitely tailored evening gown, shone like the most dazzling star in the night sky. She gently took Ah Yu's hand, a graceful smile playing on her lips. However, the large diamond ring on her ring finger reflected a cold light that seemed to carry a hint of chill.

Reporters, like sharks smelling blood, swarmed around, their microphones pointed at the much-anticipated couple like long guns and cannons. One reporter couldn't wait to speak: "Mr. Bai, does the ring mean..." Before he could finish, the previously orderly scene was suddenly broken by a commotion.

Chapter Two: The Impact of the Recording Pen

Zhong Hua, holding a recording pen, broke through the police cordon like a reckless deer. Her eyes were filled with determination and anger as she shouted, "He was coerced! Look at this—" She showed the crowd her phone screen, which played a recording of Gu Yanting threatening Ah Yu. Gu Yanting's voice in the recording was cold and resolute; every word was like a bombshell, causing a huge uproar in the crowd.

The banquet hall erupted in chaos. Reporters whispered amongst themselves, flashes going off wildly as they tried to capture every detail of this shocking moment. Lin Wanqing's face turned deathly pale. She gripped Ah Yu's hand tightly, her knuckles white from the pressure. Ah Yu, on the other hand, looked utterly stunned, seemingly unprepared for this sudden turn of events.

Chapter Three: Scattered Secrets

Just as the security guards rushed forward to drag Zhong Hua away, another accident occurred. Zhong Hua's bag accidentally fell to the ground, scattering its contents everywhere. Everyone's attention was drawn to two items—a pawnshop receipt belonging to Ah Yu, and a USB drive labeled Lin Wanqing.

The date and amount on the pawn shop receipt seemed to conceal a hidden past, while the USB drive was more like a Pandora's box, making one wonder what astonishing secrets it held. Lin Wanqing looked at the things on the ground, a hint of panic and fear flashing in her eyes. She subconsciously wanted to bend down to pick them up, but was stopped by the security guard's action.

Chapter Four: The Vortex of Truth

As the recording circulated and the items on the floor were exposed, the atmosphere in the banquet hall grew increasingly tense. Reporters began frantically digging for clues, trying to piece together the whole story. Some began to doubt the authenticity of Lin Wanqing and Ayu's relationship, wondering if it was truly as sweet and romantic as it appeared, or if a deeper conspiracy was lurking behind it.

Ah Yu stood rooted to the spot, his eyes vacant, as if his soul had been ripped from his body. He looked at the chaotic scene around him, his heart filled with mixed emotions. Gu Yanting's threat, Zhong Hua's sudden appearance, and these inexplicably appearing items had all plunged him into a massive vortex of truth, from which he could not extricate himself.

Chapter 5: Reactions from All Parties

Lin Wanqing's team acted swiftly to try and control the situation. They blocked reporters from asking further questions while simultaneously issuing a statement from their public relations team, attempting to explain the incident as a misunderstanding and a malicious smear campaign by competitors. However, the reporters were clearly not easily convinced; they continued to dig deeper, scrutinizing every detail.

Ah Yu's family also learned of the news and rushed to her side. Seeing Ah Yu in such a predicament, they felt both heartache and helplessness. Meanwhile, Gu Yanting, having learned that his scheme had been exposed, hid behind the scenes, trying to find a way to quell the storm, yet fearing that his actions would be completely revealed.

Chapter Six: The Secret of the USB Flash Drive

Under intense pressure from the crowd, the USB drive was finally opened. Its contents shocked everyone. It turned out that the USB drive contained records of illegal and irregular business practices by Lin Wanqing's family business, and the exposure of this evidence would bring devastating damage to the Lin family.

Lin Wanqing slumped to the ground, knowing that this time she might truly be unable to recover. Ah Yu looked at the contents of the USB drive, his feelings for Lin Wanqing becoming complicated. He didn't know what kind of power struggle he had been drawn into, or whether his relationship with Lin Wanqing had been a meticulously planned deception from the very beginning.

Chapter Seven: The Story of the Pawnshop Receipt

Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding Ah Yu's pawnshop receipt was also revealed. It turned out that Ah Yu had pawned her beloved ancestral jade pendant to help a friend through a financial crisis. Lin Wanqing had known about this all along, and she originally intended to secretly help Ah Yu redeem the pendant, but she never expected that this receipt would become another trigger for this chaos.

Ah Yu recalled this past event and couldn't help but sigh. He never imagined that these seemingly ordinary things would now be involved in such a complex situation and become a tool for the power struggle among various parties.

Chapter 8: A Chaotic Ending

As the truth gradually comes to light, the chaos sparked by the spotlight is slowly drawing to a close. Lin Wanqing faces legal consequences for her family business's illegal activities, and her illustrious life collapses instantly. Ah Yu, exhausted both physically and mentally after this ordeal, decides to temporarily escape this noisy and turbulent world to find inner peace.

Zhong Hua, though her actions triggered the chaos, also became a hero for revealing the truth. After the farce ended, she continued her career as a journalist, using her pen and recorder to pursue more unknown truths. The once luxurious banquet hall has now returned to calm, but the chaos caused by a diamond ring has become a story that will be told for a long time.
