Gu Yanting's men panicked for a moment, their vehicle struggling to maneuver in the alley, and they gradually fell behind. Taking advantage of the chaos, Ah Yu had the driver stop in a secluded corner, then pulled Zhong Hua out of the car. They quickly hid in an abandoned warehouse, a place Ah Yu often played in as a child; he knew it was well-hidden and they wouldn't be discovered for the time being.
The two hid in the warehouse, listening to the fading sounds of vehicles outside, before finally letting out a sigh of relief. The warehouse reeked of decay, and was filled with piles of discarded junk. Faint moonlight filtered through the dilapidated roof, casting dappled shadows on the floor. Ah Yu and Zhong Hua exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with relief at surviving the ordeal, but also with a complex mix of emotions.
Zhong Hua looked at A Yu, tears welling in her eyes, and said, "A Yu, you shouldn't have come. You'll only get yourself into big trouble. Gu Yanting won't let you get away with this." A Yu gently wiped away her tears and said tenderly, "Hua Hua, how can I just watch you marry someone else? No matter how much trouble there is, I'm not afraid. As long as I can be with you, it's all worth it."
VI. Lin Wanqing's Predicament
Meanwhile, Lin Wanqing, left behind in the banquet hall, found herself in a predicament. Gu Yanting, upon discovering that she had pulled the power switch to help Ah Yu and Zhong Hua escape, was enraged, his face contorted with rage. He glared fiercely at Lin Wanqing and said, "Lin Wanqing, how dare you! You actually helped them plot against me! Do you think you could escape?"
Lin Wanqing felt a pang of fear, but she forced herself to remain calm and said, "Gu Yanting, the bad things you've done will be exposed sooner or later. You can't force Zhong Hua to marry you; she loves Ah Yu." Gu Yanting sneered and said, "Love? In this world, only power and money matter. Zhong Hua is destined to be mine, and no one can take her away. As for you, you will pay the price for your actions!"
After saying that, Gu Yanting waved his hand, and several bodyguards stepped forward and grabbed Lin Wanqing. Lin Wanqing struggled desperately, but to no avail. Gu Yanting looked at the struggling Lin Wanqing, a ruthless glint in his eyes, and said, "Take her to the basement. No one is allowed to release her without my order!"
Lin Wanqing was forcibly dragged away by the bodyguards. She was filled with worry, not knowing whether Ah Yu and Zhong Hua had escaped safely, nor what kind of torture she would face next.
VII. Gu Yanting's conspiracy takes shape
Gu Yanting returned home and sat on the sofa in the living room, his face terribly grim. His heart was filled with anger and resentment. What should have been a perfect engagement party had been ruined by Ah Yu. He vowed to make Ah Yu and Zhong Hua pay a terrible price.
Gu Yanting picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Hello, it's me. Find out everything about Ah Yu. I need to know everything about him. Also, find a few reliable people to cause him some trouble, preferably to the point where he can't stay in this city anymore. And keep a close eye on Zhong Hua's movements. If she dares to have any contact with Ah Yu again, take strong measures against her."
After hanging up the phone, Gu Yanting fell into deep thought again. He knew that dealing with Ah Yu alone wasn't enough; he also needed to carefully plan things out with Zhong Hua. He thought of Zhong Hua's mother; that sickly woman might become a trump card in his hands. A sinister smile crept onto Gu Yanting's lips, and an even more vicious conspiracy gradually took shape in his mind.
8. Ah Yu and Zhong Hua's discussion
In the abandoned warehouse, Ah Yu and Zhong Hua rested for a while before discussing their next move. Ah Yu frowned and said, "Hua Hua, Gu Yanting definitely won't let us off easily. We need to think of a way." Zhong Hua nodded and said, "Yes, I know. But Gu Yanting has immense power. What can we do?"
Ah Yu thought for a moment and said, "We can't just sit here and wait to die. I think we can go find Lin Wanqing first. She helped us before, so maybe she can provide us with some useful information. Besides, Gu Yanting definitely won't let her go easily. We have to rescue her."
Zhong Hua said with some worry, "But we don't know where Gu Yanting is holding her. How are we going to find her?" Ah Yu comforted her, "Don't worry, I have some friends who can help us find out. Let's leave here first, find a safe place to hide, and wait for news."
So, Ah Yu and Zhong Hua carefully left the abandoned warehouse. Under the cover of night, they headed towards an old residential area in the south of the city, where one of Ah Yu's friends could temporarily take them in.
IX. Finding Clues to Lin Wanqing
After arriving at their friend's house, Ah Yu and Zhong Hua quickly washed up and then began contacting friends to inquire about Lin Wanqing's whereabouts. Ah Yu's friend had a wide network of connections and soon brought some information. It was learned that Lin Wanqing was being held captive in the basement of the Gu family's old mansion by Gu Yanting. The Gu family's old mansion was heavily guarded, making a rescue no easy task.
Upon hearing the news, Ah Yu and Zhong Hua were both worried about Lin Wanqing's safety and troubled about how to rescue her. Zhong Hua said, "Ah Yu, the Gu family's old house is definitely not easy to enter. What should we do?" Ah Yu frowned and thought for a while, then said, "I have a plan, but it involves a great risk. We can sneak into the old house at night when the guards change shifts. However, we will definitely encounter many dangers along the way."
Looking into Ah Yu's determined eyes, Zhong Hua said, "No matter how dangerous it is, we have to rescue Lin Wanqing. She was imprisoned to help us." Ah Yu nodded and said, "Okay, then we'll act tonight. You must be careful and follow my instructions."
