Episode 126: Lin Wanqing's Hesitation

Lin Wanqing's cheeks flushed, like the magnificent sunset on the horizon. She nodded gently and said shyly, "Okay, I promise you." From that moment on, a seed of pure and beautiful feelings was planted in their hearts. As time passed, this seed gradually took root, sprouted, and grew into a towering tree.

Those beautiful memories flooded back like a tide, and Lin Wanqing could no longer hold back her tears, which slowly slid down her cheeks. She choked out, "How could I forget? Those memories are the most precious things in my life. But reality isn't a fairy tale. We can't live carefree like we did when we were children anymore. The situation is too complicated now. Gu Yanting won't let us off easily, and Zhong Hua is also in trouble because of us."

Ah Yu gently wiped away Lin Wanqing's tears, his fingers tracing her cheeks tenderly, like a spring breeze caressing a flower: "Wanqing, I know reality is cruel, but we can't give up on our relationship just because we're afraid of difficulties. As for Zhong Hua, I also feel guilty, but I only feel gratitude towards her, not romantic feelings. We'll find a way to resolve this matter; I believe there will always be a solution."

Lin Wanqing shook her head slightly; Ah Yu's words did not lessen her inner turmoil in the slightest. She knew Ah Yu's personality well; once she set her mind on something, she would pursue it relentlessly. However, this time, their enemy was Gu Yanting, that ruthless and unscrupulous young master from a wealthy family. Did they really have the ability to stand against him? Moreover, Zhong Hua had suffered so much because of them, and she always felt a deep sense of guilt.

III. The future is shrouded in uncertainty, and choices are difficult.

“Ah Yu, even if we have the courage to face Gu Yanting, what about the future? Can we really get rid of his entanglement and live a peaceful life?” Lin Wanqing raised her head, her eyes filled with confusion and helplessness. She seemed to be asking Ah Yu, but also herself. “Besides, Zhong Hua is being ruthlessly cyberbullied by netizens, and her mother’s condition has worsened because of this. How can we be together with a clear conscience?”

Ah Yu fell silent. Lin Wanqing's words were like sharp thorns, piercing his heart deeply. He knew that what Lin Wanqing said was true; they faced not only Gu Yanting's revenge, but also pressure from public opinion and guilt towards Zhong Hua. However, he truly couldn't bring himself to give up his feelings for Lin Wanqing.

After a long while, Ah Yu slowly spoke, her voice low and firm: "Wanqing, no one can predict the future, but I believe that as long as we work together, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome. As for Zhong Hua, we will do our best to make amends to her and help her. I know that saying these things now may seem a bit pale, but I really don't want to lose you. You are the most important person in my life."

Looking into Ah Yu's resolute eyes, Lin Wanqing felt a mix of emotions. She knew Ah Yu truly loved her and was willing to give everything for her. However, she couldn't selfishly put Ah Yu in danger because of her own feelings, nor could she turn a blind eye to the suffering Zhong Hua was enduring.

"Ah Yu, give me some time, let me think it over, okay?" Lin Wanqing said softly, her eyes revealing a hint of weariness and helplessness. Ah Yu felt a pang of pain in his heart. He knew the struggle in Lin Wanqing's heart and understood that she needed time to sort out her thoughts. He nodded gently and said, "Okay, Wanqing, I'll give you time, but you have to believe me, no matter what happens, I will never leave you."

In the days that followed, Lin Wanqing fell into deep thought. Every day, she would sit alone by the window of the small house, gazing at the desolate fields outside, her eyes empty and lost. Memories of Ah Yu and Zhong Hua's desperate, helpless eyes kept flashing through her mind. It was as if two little voices were constantly arguing within her; one voice told her to bravely pursue her own happiness and be with Ah Yu; while the other voice kept reminding her to think of Ah Yu's safety and to be responsible for Zhong Hua.

That night, Lin Wanqing lay in bed, staring at the dappled shadows on the ceiling, unable to fall asleep for a long time. Moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating her face and the two deep tear tracks on her cheeks. She knew she had to make a decision, a decision that could change her and Ah Yu's fate, and even everyone's. But this decision was far too difficult; every choice was accompanied by immense pain and sacrifice.

In her agonizing struggle, Lin Wanqing gradually formed a vague idea. Perhaps she could sacrifice herself to bring peace to A Yu and Zhong Hua. Although this thought tore her heart apart, she felt it might be the only way at the moment. However, the thought of being separated from A Yu filled her with an overwhelming grief. She bit her lip tightly, tears soaking her pillow once more.

IV. Painful Struggle, but Finally a Decision

As the days passed, Lin Wanqing's inner struggle intensified. Watching Ah Yu tirelessly search for solutions and work towards their future, she felt both moved and heartbroken. Every smile, every concerned glance from Ah Yu felt like a sharp knife, piercing her heart. She knew her decision would cause Ah Yu immense pain, but she had no other choice.

Finally, one morning, as the first rays of sunlight streamed onto the windowsill of the small house, Lin Wanqing made her decision. Her eyes revealed a resolute determination, and although tears still welled up in her eyes, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, as if telling herself that this was the best choice.
