Episode 143. Lin Wanqing's Resolute Action

Lin Wanqing's Choice: The Path to Redemption and Truth

Beneath the shadows of this bustling metropolis, an invisible war is quietly raging. Lin Wanqing finds herself in her small yet cozy apartment, the surroundings eerily quiet except for the ticking of the wall clock, as if relentlessly counting down something.

She stared intently at her phone screen, which was constantly updating with a deluge of negative news about Zhong Hua and A Yu. The malicious words were like sharp blades, each one cutting into her heart. In the photos, Zhong Hua's eyes were filled with exhaustion and despair, while A Yu looked haggard, her former sunshine and vitality long gone. Lin Wanqing's hands trembled slightly, her heart filled with self-blame and guilt, as if countless ants were gnawing at her soul.

She knew all too well that the root of all this lay with her. If it weren't for her past entanglement with Gu Yanting, if she hadn't been unwittingly manipulated by him, Zhong Hua and A Yu wouldn't have fallen into such a hopeless situation. Gu Yanting, the man she once thought was truly sincere, had now transformed into a demon, ruthlessly harming innocent people to achieve his ulterior motives.

Lin Wanqing paced back and forth in her room, her thoughts a jumbled mess. She recalled every little thing she had shared with Ah Yu, those pure and beautiful memories like shining stars that had illuminated her dark life. Ah Yu's kindness and sincerity, the gentle look in his eyes when he looked at her—all of this made Lin Wanqing know that she couldn't just stand by and watch him be destroyed in this conspiracy.

After countless internal struggles and agonizing contemplation, Lin Wanqing finally stopped. She slowly raised her head, a resolute determination gradually emerging in her eyes. Like a traveler groping in the darkness for a long time, she finally found a glimmer of dawn. She decided to step forward and make a shocking decision to protect Ah Yu. This decision might plunge her into an abyss of no return, but at this moment, she couldn't care less about that.

Lin Wanqing first sat down at her desk and opened a notebook. She picked up a pen, but her hand hovered in the air for a moment, as if making final mental preparations. Then, she began to write, stroke by stroke, each word as if she had used all her strength. She meticulously recorded how she met Gu Yanting, from their initial chance encounter at a business gathering to Gu Yanting's ardent pursuit of her. She wrote about how she was initially captivated by Gu Yanting's sweet words and luxurious lifestyle, unknowingly becoming a pawn in his game.

She also recalled the subtle clues that Gu Yanting had revealed his conspiracy to her. Although she hadn't fully realized the seriousness of the situation at the time, those vague fragments now surfaced vividly in her mind. For example, Gu Yanting had casually mentioned that Zhong Hua and A Yu posed a threat to his business plans, and had even said harsh things like he would find a way to make them disappear from the world. As Lin Wanqing wrote, tears streamed down her face. She hated her own ignorance and stupidity. Why hadn't she seen through Gu Yanting's true colors sooner? Why had she brought such a huge disaster to Zhong Hua and A Yu because of her?

After completing this detailed record, Lin Wanqing carefully placed the notebook into an envelope and wrote the word "Truth" on it. She knew this record would be one of the crucial pieces of evidence to bring down Gu Yanting. Next, she began to tidy her clothes, choosing the simplest and most understated dress to wear. Standing in front of the mirror, she looked at herself, her face haggard but her eyes resolute. She gently combed her hair, as if preparing herself for the unknown and dangerous path she was about to embark on.

Afterward, Lin Wanqing opened her phone's contacts and found a number she hadn't contacted in a long time. It was the number of a senior reporter she had met when she worked at a media company. She took a deep breath and pressed the dial button. After a few rings, a familiar voice came from the other end. Lin Wanqing tried to make her voice sound calm and said, "Reporter Chen, this is Lin Wanqing. I know you've always been dedicated to exposing the dark side of society. Now I have a major lead about Gu Yanting, and I'd like to meet with you to tell you everything." Reporter Chen on the other end of the line was clearly surprised, but quickly regained his professional instincts. He agreed to Lin Wanqing's request to meet and arranged to meet an hour later at a secluded coffee shop.

After hanging up the phone, Lin Wanqing looked around her apartment one last time. This place held too many memories for her, both beautiful and painful. She knew that from the moment she stepped out of this door, everything would change. But for Ah Yu, for justice, she had no way back. She picked up her handbag, carefully placed the envelope containing the records inside, took a deep breath, and slowly opened the door.

Walking towards the café, Lin Wanqing's feelings were incredibly complex. Pedestrians came and went on the street, each carrying their own story and expression, while she felt as if she were in another world. She passed a flower shop, and the fragrance wafting from it reminded her of strolling through fields of flowers with Ah Yu. Back then, they were carefree, their eyes only for each other's smiles. But now, everything had changed. Yet Lin Wanqing told herself that she must strive to restore everything to its original state.

When Lin Wanqing arrived at the coffee shop, Reporter Chen was already waiting in a corner. He slightly rose to acknowledge her arrival. Lin Wanqing quickly sat down opposite him. Seeing the questioning yet expectant look in Reporter Chen's eyes, she didn't hesitate for a moment, taking the envelope from her handbag and handing it to him. "This is a complete record of Gu Yanting's conspiracy. To achieve his goals, he resorted to any means to harm Zhong Hua and A Yu. I hope you can make this public and let the truth come to light," Lin Wanqing said, her voice soft but carrying an undeniable firmness.
