She recalled a time when she was hospitalized, and Ah Yu stayed by her bedside day and night, her eyes bloodshot, yet still taking meticulous care of her. And when faced with Gu Yanting's repeated attempts to frame her, Ah Yu always stood firmly by her side, shielding her from the storm. Those beautiful memories played like a movie in her mind, making her heart even more tormented.
Time slipped away slowly amidst agonizing contemplation, drawing ever closer to the deadline for Gu Yanting's demand for an answer. Zhong Hua felt as if she were trapped in a dark maze, unable to find her way out.
VII. Despair Before Dawn
As dawn broke, the first rays of sunlight shone through the window onto Zhong Hua's haggard face. She hadn't slept all night, her eyes filled with exhaustion and despair.
She knew her time was running out. Picking up her phone, looking at Ah Yu's photo on the screen, tears blurred her vision again. She desperately wanted to call Ah Yu and tell him everything, but she was afraid of causing him more trouble.
"Do we really have to give up on our relationship?" Zhong Hua kept asking herself. She felt like a puppet being played by fate, unable to escape its shackles no matter how hard she struggled.
As time ticked by, Zhong Hua's heart grew heavier and heavier. She could almost hear her heart breaking, bit by bit.
VIII. Final Decision
When the time on his phone reached the moment Gu Yanting had requested, Zhong Hua took a deep breath and, with trembling fingers, dialed Gu Yanting's number.
“Gu Yanting, I promise you…” Zhong Hua’s voice was filled with endless pain and helplessness.
“Very good, a wise choice. Don’t worry, as long as you leave Ah Yu, I will keep my promise.” Gu Yanting’s smug voice came from the other end of the phone.
After hanging up the phone, Zhong Hua burst into tears. She knew she had made a decision she might regret for the rest of her life. But for her mother's sake, she had no other choice.
She got up and packed some of her things, preparing to leave the home she and Ah Yu had shared. Every corner was filled with their memories, and every item seemed to tell the story of their past love. Zhong Hua stroked the familiar furniture, tears streaming down her face.
IX. The departing figure
As Zhong Hua dragged his luggage out of the house, he ran into A Yu, who was returning home from get off work. A Yu was startled when she saw Zhong Hua's appearance. "Zhong Hua, where are you going?"
Zhong Hua couldn't look Ah Yu in the eye. "Ah Yu, let's break up... I can't stand this kind of life anymore, I want to leave."
Ah Yu was stunned. "Zhong Hua, what are you saying? We've been through so much together, how can you just break up with me like this? Did something happen? Tell me!"
Zhong Hua bit her lip, forcing back tears. "It's nothing, it's just that I don't love you anymore, we're not right for each other. Don't ask anymore." After saying that, she dragged her luggage away without looking back, leaving Ah Yu standing there blankly, her face full of disbelief and pain.
Zhong Hua's figure appeared so lonely and helpless in the sunlight. She knew that her life would take a completely different turn from now on, all because of her painful choice. But she hoped that her mother could be cured, and that Ah Yu could find his own happiness.
