Chapter 1: A Narrow Encounter at the Auction
Ayu and Lin Yu stared at the mysterious text message, caught in a dilemma. After a brief moment of thought, they decided to proceed with their original plan to the auction, as it might be their only chance to obtain crucial information.
Stepping into the auction hall, the dazzling lights, elegantly dressed guests, and various artworks displayed on the stands created a luxurious and bustling atmosphere. But Ayu and Lin Yu had no time to appreciate any of this; their eyes were scanning their surroundings warily, constantly watching for any corners that might be hiding danger.
The two cautiously weaved through the crowd, searching for the mysterious document according to their pre-determined location. The atmosphere at the auction was lively, with bids rising and falling, but they could sense the danger lurking around them—an invisible pressure, as if countless eyes were watching their every move from the shadows.
Just as Ayu discovered the room where the documents were located, several men who looked like security guards suddenly approached her, their eyes filled with suspicion. Ayu's heart leaped into her throat, and cold sweat broke out on her palms. Seeing this, Lin Yu's mind raced. He immediately created a small disturbance, deliberately bumping into a waiter. The champagne glasses on the waiter's tray fell to the ground, the crisp sound of shattering glass accompanied by gasps from the crowd, successfully attracting the security guards' attention. Taking advantage of the moment, Ayu slipped away and quickly entered the room.
The room was dimly lit. Ayu nervously searched around and finally found the document in a hidden compartment behind a safe. Her hands trembled as she picked up the document and quickly hid it inside her coat. Just as she was about to turn and leave, she heard a commotion outside. The auction organizers seemed to have noticed something was wrong, and the entire auction venue was immediately placed under lockdown.
Chapter Two: Trapped in the Venue
Ayu and Lin Yu were trapped in the martial law-bound auction venue. The entrance was blocked by a group of heavily armed security guards, who were checking everyone's information. The guests inside the venue also noticed something was wrong and began to panic and whisper among themselves.
Lin Yu pulled Ayu behind a huge screen and whispered, "The situation is very tricky. We need to find another way out." Ayu gripped the document tightly, nodded, and quickly scanned the surroundings.
They discovered a passageway leading to the backstage area on the side of the venue, but two security guards were stationed at the entrance. Lin Yu pulled out a small jammer, a tool he had prepared just in case. He quietly activated the jammer and emitted a signal towards the surveillance equipment near the passageway entrance. After a short while, the surveillance screen displayed static. Taking advantage of the guards' distraction while checking the footage, the two of them crouched low and quickly ran towards the passageway.
However, just as they reached the entrance of the passage, a security guard snapped out of his daze and shouted, "Stop!" while raising his gun. Lin Yu reacted swiftly, grabbing a prop box from the side and throwing it at the guard. In the instant the guard dodged, the two rushed into the passage.
The passageway was dimly lit and filled with an old, worn atmosphere. They ran frantically, only to find a tightly closed iron door at the end of the passage, secured with a large padlock. Ayu looked anxiously at Lin Yu, who stepped forward and pulled hard on the iron door, but it wouldn't budge.
Chapter Three: An Unexpected Discovery
Just when they were starting to despair, Ayu suddenly noticed that a brick on the wall next to the iron gate seemed a bit loose. She quickly tried to pry it off with her hands, and Lin Yu, understanding her intention, helped her. After a lot of effort, the brick was pried out, revealing a small hole behind it, just big enough for one person to barely pass through.
Lin Yu looked at the cave entrance, gritted his teeth, and said, "There's no time to hesitate. We'll get out from here." With that, he crawled in first, followed closely by A Yu. The cave was cramped, with rough stone walls all around, and they could only crawl with difficulty using their hands and feet.
After climbing for an unknown amount of time, they finally saw some faint light ahead. Overjoyed, they quickened their pace. Finally, they emerged from the cave, only to find themselves in what appeared to be a warehouse, filled with various odds and ends and unopened auction items.
Before they could even catch their breath, footsteps and shouts came from outside, clearly indicating that the security guards had tracked them down. Lin Yu looked around and saw that the warehouse window was relatively large. He pulled A Yu towards the window, and the two of them pushed it open together, leaping into the alley outside.
A damp smell permeated the alley, and the surrounding area was littered with garbage cans, making it look somewhat dirty and messy. But they didn't care about that; they took off running, wanting to get away from this dangerous place as quickly as possible.
Chapter Four: Unveiling the Documents
Having finally shaken off their pursuers, Ayu and Lin Yu found a relatively secluded abandoned factory building and hid inside. Both panting heavily, Ayu suddenly remembered the document and quickly took it out.
By the dim light, they began to examine the contents of the documents. The documents detailed the power struggle between the mysterious organization and Ruifeng Group back then. It turned out that in order to obtain Ruifeng Group's core business secrets, the mysterious organization secretly bribed some high-ranking members of the group and plotted a series of conspiracies, which led to internal strife within Ruifeng Group and a sharp decline in its market share.
The documents also provide a clearer picture of Ayu's background, suggesting that she is very likely the daughter of the chairman of Ruifeng Group who disappeared years ago. Back then, those people, in an effort to eliminate any future threats, secretly took Ayu, then a young girl, away, intending to hide her forever. However, they never expected that years later, Ayu would begin searching for her origins, gradually uncovering their secrets.
