Chapter 5: Mysterious Tracking
Just as they were about to leave the abandoned factory and discuss their next plan, they suddenly heard the roar of car engines outside. A group of men in black got out of the cars, each with a cold expression and holding weapons.
"Oh no, we've been discovered," Lin Yu whispered. Ayu's heart jumped again. They looked around and found a small door at the back of the factory. The two of them quickly ran towards the door.
Stepping out of the small gate, they found themselves in a wasteland overgrown with weeds. They trudged through the mud, running frantically. The men in black pursued them relentlessly, firing shots every now and then. Bullets whizzed past their ears, and the situation was extremely dangerous.
As Lin Yu ran, he observed his surroundings and spotted a grove of trees in the distance. He shouted, "Run into the woods! It's a good hiding place!" The two of them ran towards the woods with all their might and plunged into the forest.
The woods were dense and dimly lit. Using the trees for cover, they constantly changed direction, trying to shake off their pursuers. But the men in black seemed well-trained, relentlessly pursuing them, the distance closing in little by little.
Chapter Six: A Clever Escape
Ayu was extremely anxious, knowing that if things continued like this, they would be caught sooner or later. At this moment, Lin Yu saw a large tree nearby with a thick trunk and many branches that extended low. He had an idea and said to Ayu, "Climb up this tree, try to climb as high as possible, find a secluded place to hide, and I will lure them away."
Ayu hesitated, not wanting to be separated from Lin Yu, but Lin Yu's eyes were resolute, so she nodded and quickly climbed the tree. Lin Yu then ran in another direction, deliberately making a lot of noise, and occasionally picking up stones from the ground and throwing them behind him to attract the attention of the men in black.
The men in black fell for the trap and all chased after Lin Yu. Lin Yu nimbly moved through the woods, using the trees as cover, playing hide-and-seek with the men in black. He spotted a low-lying area, jumped down, and lay motionless in the grass.
The men in black, having chased him here, lost their bearings and began to scatter in their search. Lin Yu seized the opportunity, quietly circling back from another direction and climbing towards the large tree where Ayu was.
Ayu watched from the tree as Lin Yu successfully shook off the men in black, and breathed a sigh of relief. After Lin Yu climbed up the tree, the two hid there for a while, making sure the men in black had left, before carefully climbing down.
Chapter Seven: Seeking Help
After this thrilling chase, Ayu and Lin Yu realized that it would be difficult for the two of them to fight against the mysterious organization on their own, and they needed to seek more help.
Lin Yu remembered Officer Zhang, an old friend he had met at the police station. Officer Zhang was an upright man who always paid close attention to cases involving business corruption. So, they decided to go to Officer Zhang and tell him everything they knew, hoping to get the police's support.
Upon arriving at the police station, Lin Yu found Officer Zhang and recounted in detail the mysterious organization's conspiracy, A Yu's background, and the dangers they had faced. Officer Zhang listened with a very serious expression; he knew the gravity of the matter and immediately said he would report to his superiors and organize a police force to investigate the mysterious organization as soon as possible.
After the police intervened, Ayu and Lin Yu felt much more at ease. They cooperated with the police by providing more clues about the mysterious organization, including the locations where they frequently appeared and information about some suspicious individuals.
However, the mysterious organization seemed to have noticed the police's actions and began to become more cautious. Some of the original leads suddenly disappeared, and the investigation reached a stalemate.
Chapter 8: New Clues
Just when everyone was at a loss, Ayu suddenly remembered that the document mentioned a mysterious figure who had played an important role in some of the organization's early activities, but later seemed to have a conflict with the organization and disappeared.
Ayu felt that finding this person might lead to a new breakthrough, so she and Lin Yu began inquiring about his whereabouts again. After some twists and turns, they finally learned from a small-time hoodlum who had once mingled on the fringes of a mysterious organization that the person seemed to live in a remote village on the outskirts of the city.
The two hurried to the village and inquired from house to house. Their efforts paid off, and they found the mysterious figure's residence. It was a slightly dilapidated courtyard, surrounded by piles of miscellaneous items.
They knocked on the door, and after a long while, it slowly opened. An elderly man with a weathered face appeared before them, his eyes filled with wariness: "Who are you? What do you want?" Ayu quickly said, "We've come to inquire about some things concerning a mysterious organization. We know you've had connections with them in the past, and we hope you can help us." Upon hearing this, the old man's expression changed, and he tried to close the door. Lin Yu quickly reached out to stop him, saying urgently, "Please don't close the door. This organization is currently plotting a major conspiracy, and many people will be harmed. If you know anything, please tell us."
