Episode 310: The Corner of the Puzzle



"The weather will be nice tomorrow, let's go take pictures of the sunrise?" Ah Yu said.

Zhong Hua turned his head, his eyes shining brightly as they reflected the light from the screen: "Okay."

The next morning, when Ah Yu was woken by her alarm clock, she found that Zhong Hua had already prepared the camera. His backpack was placed by the door, containing two batteries and his favorite kind of milk candy. Ah Yu smiled, walked over, took a piece of fruit candy from her pocket, and put it in Zhong Hua's hand.

"It's sour, but it's refreshing," Ah Yu said.

Zhong Hua held the candy in his hand, feeling a familiar sensation on his fingertips, just like many years ago when Ah Yu would snatch it from him. He looked up at Ah Yu; sunlight streamed in through the window, falling on her face and turning her eyelashes golden.

“Let’s go,” Zhong Hua said, “to take pictures of the sunrise.”

The two walked out of the studio side by side. The morning breeze carried the fresh scent of grass and trees, much like the air by Qinghai Lake. Ah Yu suddenly remembered that Lin Wanqing had said that when she returned, she would go with them to photograph a sunrise, a sunset, and the starry sky, to make up for all the scenery they had missed.

“Let’s go pick her up when she comes back,” Ah Yu said.

“Okay,” Zhong Hua said.

The sunlight slowly crept up, casting long shadows of the two figures that overlapped, like two tightly meshed gears slowly turning in the same direction. Meanwhile, in a distant city, Lin Wanqing stood by the window of the training room, gazing at the sky outside. In her hand, she held a newly drawn note with three small circles connected together, next to which was written: "Wait for me to come back, and we'll put that puzzle together."
