Episode 37: Rumors Resurface

"through thick and thin"

Chapter 1: Rumors Arise

Ah Yu stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows of the company building, overlooking the bustling traffic of the metropolis, her brows furrowed. During this time, with their growing success in their careers, the unsavory rumors and gossip had spread like wildfire, impossible to contain.

He, Su Yao, and Zhong Hua were originally just like-minded partners who worked hard together, weathered storms together, and finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel, but the malicious speculations from the outside world followed them like a shadow.

"Ugh, I've seen those ridiculous rumors again." Zhong Hua walked in, holding her phone, the screen displaying screenshots of those online rumors. She looked helpless and angry.

Ah Yu turned around and said with a wry smile, "Yes, they say that I only achieved what I have today because of Su Yao, the president's wife, and that our relationship is not pure. It's utterly ridiculous."

Zhong Hua walked over to Ah Yu and gently patted his shoulder: "People can say whatever they want, but these rumors are getting more and more outrageous. I don't know how to deal with them."

Meanwhile, in Su Yao's luxurious home, her husband sat on the sofa, looking at the rumors about his wife that were subtly mentioned in the newspaper. Although he had previously chosen to believe her, the pressure from public opinion was so great that he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.

Su Yao came downstairs and saw her husband's expression. She knew what he was thinking, so she went over and sat down next to him, saying, "Don't listen to that nonsense. Don't you know us?"

The husband forced a smile: "I know, but the rumors are spreading so widely that it's hard not to feel a little uncomfortable."

Meanwhile, Ah Yu's parents were also sighing at home. The old couple were worried that their son was getting caught up in such complicated relationships, which would damage his reputation and make his future path difficult.

"How did our son get involved in all this? What are we going to do?" Ah Yu's mother said anxiously to her husband.

The father also looked worried: "When he comes back, I have to have a good talk with him and tell him to stay away from those things."

Zhong Hua's family was also very worried about her relationship with A Yu, feeling that she shouldn't get too involved with A Yu and that she might get hurt in the future. They called her one after another to give her advice.

Chapter Two: The First Signs of Conflict

When Ah Yu returned home, his parents pulled him to sit on the sofa as soon as he entered the door, their faces serious.

“Son, what exactly is going on between you, Su Yao, and Zhong Hua? The rumors outside are horrible. You need to be careful about your reputation,” Ah Yu’s father said first.

Ah Yu explained helplessly, "Dad, Mom, we're just work partners. Those people are making things up. Don't believe them."

"It's not that simple. These rumors are flying everywhere. People don't just say things for no reason. You'd better keep your distance from them," the mother advised anxiously.

Ah Yu felt a surge of frustration. He knew his parents meant well, but they didn't understand the real situation at all. Besides, his career was on the rise, so how could he easily distance himself from his partners?

At the same time, Zhong Hua and his family also got into an argument on the phone.

“I’m all grown up now, I know what I’m doing. Ah Yu is a reliable person, our relationship is completely innocent, so don’t worry about it,” Zhong Hua said loudly into the phone.

“We’re doing this for your own good. What if you get hurt by all those rumors going around? You should cut off all contact with him right away,” came the anxious voice from the other end of the phone.

Zhong Hua hung up the phone in anger. She knew her family cared about her, but they were making her sever ties with A Yu without even knowing the facts, which was really unfair to her.

Meanwhile, a subtle rift had appeared between Su Yao and her husband. The once warm atmosphere between them had become somewhat cold, and although her husband didn't say anything, Su Yao could sense the awkwardness in his heart.

During dinner, her husband casually remarked, "If there's nothing important at the company lately, you should come home early to avoid gossip."

Su Yao put down her chopsticks, looked at her husband, and said, "What do you mean by that? Are you starting to doubt me too?"

The husband quickly waved his hand: "No, no, I'm just worried that those rumors will affect you. After all, people's words can be a real threat."

Su Yao felt a pang of disappointment. The once steadfast and trusting relationship seemed to have cracked under the impact of public opinion.

Chapter Three: An Attempt to Explain

Ah Yu felt that he couldn't let these rumors continue to ruin their lives and relationship, so he decided to find an opportunity to explain things clearly to his parents again.

One day, he went home early, bought his parents' favorite dishes, and cooked a meal himself. During the meal, Ah Yu said sincerely, "Mom and Dad, I know you're worried about me, but Su Yao is a very important partner in our company. She has resources and abilities, and we're working together to make our business successful. As for Zhong Hua, we're friends who admire each other and share the same goals. Our relationship is purely one of friendship and work. Those rumors are all made up by others. You have to believe me."

Seeing how serious their son was, the parents' attitude softened a little.

“Son, we’re just worried you’ll get hurt. Since you’ve said that, we believe you. But you have to be careful not to give anyone any leverage against you,” the father said.

Ah Yu nodded repeatedly: "I know, Dad, don't worry."

Zhong Hua is also trying to communicate with her family. She tells them about her experiences working with A Yu, how they stayed up all night working on the project, and how they worked together to overcome difficulties, trying to make them understand that A Yu is a trustworthy person.
