The Entanglement of Friendship and Misunderstandings
Chapter 1: The Helplessness of Explanation
Ah Yu sat in his living room, looking at his parents' faces filled with worry and dissatisfaction, his heart filled with bitterness. He never imagined that what was originally a pure relationship of affection and cooperation would become so unbearable and so complicated in his parents' eyes.
"Mom and Dad, I really am just a friend of Zhong Hua and Su Yao. We work on projects together and help each other out. There's nothing messy about it that you're thinking." Ah Yu tried her best to sound sincere and calm, but she couldn't hide her anxiety.
Ah Yu's parents looked serious. Her mother frowned and said, "Don't explain anymore. We've been through this before. Looking at how you two usually get along, the way you look at each other, the way you interact, it's not like you're just ordinary friends. You must be too deeply in love, and you haven't even realized it yet."
The father chimed in, "Yes, Yu, we're doing this for your own good. You and Zhong Hua should separate for a while, calm down, and think carefully about whether this relationship is right for you."
Ah Yu stood up anxiously and paced back and forth: "Mom and Dad, why don't you believe me? We really just want to do our jobs well together. We get along well, so we've been getting close. It's not the kind of romantic relationship you're thinking of at all."
However, his parents seemed determined to stick to their own ideas and wouldn't listen to Ah Yu's words. They just looked at him with unquestioning eyes, as if waiting for him to agree to temporarily separate from Zhong Hua. Ah Yu sighed helplessly, knowing that any further explanation would be futile, but he was unwilling to be misunderstood by his parents like this. He felt a heavy weight pressing on his heart.
Chapter Two: Zhong Hua's Pain
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Zhong Hua was experiencing the same torment. She locked herself in her room, lay on her bed, and couldn't stop crying.
The conversation she had just had with her parents was like a sharp blade, piercing her heart. Her parents, upon learning of her close relationship with Ah Yu, expressed strong opposition and incomprehension, feeling she was being incredibly foolish in matters of the heart.
"Hua Hua, you're a girl, you need to know how to keep your distance from boys. What's going on between you and that Ah Yu? We don't approve of you two continuing to be together." Her mother's words still echoed in her ears, and the reproachful tone made Zhong Hua feel extremely wronged.
She knew her parents cared about her, but they didn't understand what kind of person Ah Yu was, nor did they comprehend the pure friendship they shared as partners. She and Ah Yu worked together towards their dreams, overcoming challenges in project after project, appreciating and encouraging each other—what a rare and beautiful relationship it was!
Zhong Hua sat up, wiped away her tears, and stared blankly out the window. She wondered why her parents couldn't try to understand her. Did the closeness between a man and a woman necessarily mean there was love between them? This misunderstanding caused her immense pain, yet she didn't know how to resolve it, so she could only silently bury this pain in her heart and bear it alone.
Chapter Three: Su Yao's Dilemma
When Su Yao returned home and opened the door, she immediately sensed the oppressive atmosphere in the house. Her husband was sitting on the sofa watching TV, but his eyes clearly showed a coldness, and he didn't even greet her as usual.
She knew in her heart that her husband was definitely bothered by her relationship with Ah Yu and Zhong Hua. Although he didn't say anything, his attitude spoke volumes. Su Yao forced a smile, walked over and sat down next to her husband, and said softly, "You must have had a tiring day at work. What good shows did you watch?"
The husband simply nodded slightly and replied, "Nothing special," before continuing to stare at the television without saying another word.
Su Yao felt a pang of sadness. She knew she was in a difficult position. On one hand, there was the precious friendship she shared with Ah Yu and Zhong Hua. They had been through so much together, supporting each other at work and confiding in each other in life—a truly invaluable bond. On the other hand, there was her family and her long-standing relationship with her husband. She didn't want this incident to cause disharmony in her family or create a rift between her and her husband.
She thought she must try her best to maintain harmony in her family, but she really couldn't bear to give up her friendship with Ah Yu and Zhong Hua. She tried to find an opportunity to have a good talk with her husband and explain things clearly, but she was afraid that her husband wouldn't listen at all and would only make the conflict worse. Thus, Su Yao was caught in a deep dilemma, suffering in this oppressive atmosphere every day, not knowing what to do.
Chapter Four: Escalation of Conflict
As the days went by, the conflict between Ah Yu and his parents not only did not ease, but escalated further. His parents began to restrict Ah Yu's time outside, and whenever he mentioned going to see Zhong Hua or doing anything related to their cooperation, his parents would do their best to stop him.
Ah Yu argued with his parents several times about this. He felt that his freedom had been taken away and that his life and career had been affected by his parents' misunderstanding. "You can't interfere in my life like this! I'm an adult, I know what I'm doing!" Ah Yu shouted at his parents, his face flushed, his eyes filled with anger and helplessness.
The parents were also very angry. The mother even wiped away her tears: "We're doing this for your own good. If you're stubborn and suffer the consequences later, don't blame us for not warning you."
Meanwhile, Zhong Hua's parents, seeing that she still refused to break off contact with A Yu, began arranging various blind dates for her, hoping she would quickly shift her focus, find a suitable person to date and marry, and completely sever ties with A Yu. Zhong Hua felt resistant looking at those unfamiliar blind date partners, but she couldn't resist her parents' insistence. She only went through the motions on each blind date, which further strained her relationship with her parents.
