Episode 68: The Adjustment Process in Film and Television Projects

New Path in Film and Television

Chapter 1: Entering the Film and Television Industry

Ah Yu, Zhong Hua, and Su Yao had all achieved considerable success in their original fields. However, an unexpected opportunity led them to step into the film and television industry, a completely new and challenging field for them.

Ah Yu received a collaboration invitation from a well-known film and television production company to be responsible for the product placement and promotion of an upcoming large-scale urban drama series; Zhong Hua was selected by a film and television special effects company to participate in the special effects scene design of a fantasy film; Su Yao was invited to serve as a consultant for a film and television investment company to assist in evaluating the commercial value of projects and formulating market promotion strategies.

Initially, they were full of anticipation and enthusiasm, but once they actually entered the film and television project, they found that everything was far more difficult than they had imagined. The film and television industry has unique and complex rules and processes, which are completely different from the fields they were familiar with before. This meant that they had to learn and adapt all over again, just like newcomers.

Chapter Two: Ah Yu's Advertising Product Placement Dilemma

Ah Yu sat in the conference room, a thick script spread out in front of him, racking his brains to come up with an advertising placement plan. In his previous advertising and marketing work, he had focused more on how to highlight product features and attract consumers' attention through traditional media or offline events.

But the situation is completely different when it comes to film and television plots. He confidently handed his first proposal to the director and screenwriter, fully expecting approval, after all, it was a carefully crafted plan based on his past experience. However, what he received was a negative response.

The director frowned and said, "Ah Yu, your product placement is too blatant. It completely disrupts the flow of the plot, and it'll make the audience feel very disconnected." The screenwriter nodded in agreement, pointing out that the connection between the character and the product was too far-fetched and didn't fit the character's personality.

Ah Yu felt a little disappointed, but he didn't get discouraged. He knew that to do well, he needed to understand the creative process behind film and television production. So, he began to communicate frequently with the director and screenwriter, discussing scene by scene, analyzing the personality traits of each character and the plot development.

He joined the production crew for script readings, observing the actors' understanding and performances of their characters. Through this process, Ah Yu gradually realized that product placement shouldn't be a simple "forced insertion," but rather something cleverly integrated into the plot, becoming part of driving the story forward or enriching the character's image.

After repeated communication and refinement, Ah Yu finally found inspiration. He adjusted the plan, combining the product placement of a sports drink with the plot of the protagonist's love for sports and his rigorous training for the competition. After a sweaty training session, the protagonist drinks the beverage and naturally mentions its refreshing, thirst-quenching, and energy-boosting characteristics. This not only maintains the continuity of the plot but also perfectly showcases the product, achieving excellent promotional results.

When he presented the proposal again, the director and screenwriter both smiled with satisfaction. The director patted him on the shoulder and said, "Hey, that's it! This is the feeling we wanted!" Ah Yu also breathed a sigh of relief, having taken a solid first step in the field of product placement in film and television advertising.

Chapter 3: Zhong Hua's Path to Special Effects Integration

When Zhong Hua stepped into the special effects scene design studio, looking at the room full of computer equipment and the busy special effects team members, she felt both excited and a little apprehensive. She harbored her unique artistic ideas and longed to transform them into stunning visual effects for the big screen through special effects technology.

However, problems arose one after another right from the start. When she discussed her design sketches with the special effects team, she discovered significant differences in their understanding of how to present certain special effects. The fantastical scenes she envisioned presented numerous technical challenges for the special effects team, and their artistic style also didn't align with their usual approach.

The head of the special effects team said helplessly, "Mr. Zhong, your idea is great, but with the current technology and our past experience, it's difficult to create the feeling you want. Moreover, doing it this way might not match the overall special effects style of the whole movie."

Zhong Hua was getting anxious. She knew that if she couldn't overcome this communication barrier, her ideas would remain just empty talk. So, she resolved to learn about special effects and proactively sought advice from the team's technical backbone. She started by learning the basics of special effects software operation, understanding the generation principles of different special effects, and also studied numerous classic film special effects production cases, analyzing how they perfectly combined art and technology.

Throughout this process, she constantly exchanged ideas with her team members, listened to their technical suggestions, and also explained in detail her pursuit of artistic style. Gradually, the special effects team members began to understand her creativity and were moved by her dedication to art.

Based on her newly acquired knowledge of special effects, Zhong Hua made appropriate adjustments to her design sketches, optimizing some overly complex and difficult-to-implement parts while retaining the core artistic elements. The special effects team also did their utmost to meet her requirements, overcoming technical challenges and experimenting with new special effects production techniques.

Finally, through their combined efforts, a key special effects scene for the film was completed. It was a mysterious, fantastical forest, where the branches and leaves swayed in the wind, and the lighting effects were so realistic that each leaf seemed to possess its own life. Strange creatures roamed the forest, their movements fluid and natural, their textures and details clearly visible. The entire scene was breathtakingly beautiful. The executives at the special effects company, upon seeing the scene, highly praised Zhong Hua's creativity and dedication. Zhong Hua himself felt immensely gratified to have achieved such a perfect fusion of art and technology.
