Chapter 173: Crooked Tree
"Didn't you say you wouldn't be hurt? Didn't you say the last time you broke your arm while hiking in the countryside was just an accident? Then what about this ankle sprain? Was it another accident?"
Lin Yilan knew Huo Juncheng would mock her, so she laughed dryly, "I was just staring at that tree, so I didn't notice the stone at my feet..."
Lin Yilan pointed at the tree she had been staring at in a daze, and stuck out her tongue playfully. "I was originally thinking of you going to take a picture with me by that tree, but now..." Lin Yilan said, glancing at her slightly swollen left foot, "I guess there's no chance now."
Although Lin Yilan spoke lightly when she said this, Huo Juncheng still sensed her regret from her words. He had just mocked Lin Yilan because he was just concerned about her and had no ill intentions.
Looking at the people around them gradually moving forward, Huo Juncheng supported Lin Yilan to a more secluded place and slowly squatted down. "Come on, I'll carry you back."
Lin Yilan didn't expect Huo Juncheng to actually offer to carry her back. She opened her mouth in shock. "No need, I can do it myself...I can do it myself, just slower...slower."
"Well, I don't want to waste time with you, so hurry up and get on up."
Well, facing Huo Juncheng like this, Lin Yilan couldn't refuse even if she wanted to. She stumbled closer to Huo Juncheng, bent down, and put her hands on Huo Juncheng's neck.
"Thank you, but I promise this was just an accident. I don't usually sprain my ankle. I really didn't see the small rock because of the crooked tree."
"You'd better not climb mountains anymore. Last time you broke your arm, and this time you sprained your ankle. Are you going to get a head injury next time? Your head isn't very smart to begin with, and if you hit it again, you'll really become a fool."
Huo Juncheng responded to Lin Yilan's words mercilessly, stood up, and shook Lin Yilan on his back.
"Huo Juncheng! How come I didn't realize you were so vicious before? Don't you feel uncomfortable if you don't insult me?"
Lin Yilan finished her words angrily, then casually laid her head on Huo Juncheng's back, her body completely relaxed. Alas, after all the effort she put into climbing the mountain, she didn't even reach the small pavilion halfway up the mountain. The most regrettable thing was that she couldn't even see the crooked tree she wanted to see.
Lin Yilan leaned on Huo Juncheng's back and began to feel sad alone. Then she found that Huo Juncheng did not turn around but continued to walk upwards with the crowd.
"Huo Juncheng, are you stupid? We're going down the mountain, why are you going up?"
"Didn't you say you wanted me to take a picture of you at the crooked tree? Now that you're here, of course I have to fulfill your wish." Huo Juncheng said this expressionlessly and walked away on his own.
Hearing Huo Juncheng say this, Lin Yilan felt a warm current flowing through her heart. She didn't expect that although Huo Juncheng looked cold on the surface, he was actually a very warm person in his heart.
Lin Yilan didn't say anything else, just lay quietly on Huo Juncheng's back, staring at the crooked tree and began to daydream again. This time she could daydream without restraint. After all, if someone sprained their ankle now, it would be Huo Juncheng who would do it, and she, who was lying on someone's back, would not encounter such bad luck again.
…
"Okay, we're here."
I don’t know how long it took, Lin Yilan had fallen into a drowsy sleep, and felt her body being slightly shaken. She responded subconsciously. Huo Juncheng was surprised for a moment when he heard Lin Yilan’s moan.
But then all the surprise was replaced by tenderness, "You didn't fall asleep, did you?"
Lin Yilan blushed in embarrassment at Huo Juncheng's words, but she still stubbornly refused to admit it. "I didn't do that. Who said I fell asleep? You didn't see me, so how do you know I fell asleep? Don't try to slander me."
Huo Juncheng smiled and stopped arguing with Lin Yilan about whether she slept or not. "We're here, your crooked tree, so hurry down and take some pictures. After we're done, we'll have to go back quickly, otherwise we won't be able to get back until the sun sets."
Lin Yilan touched her nose and got off Huo Juncheng's back. "Huo Juncheng, you said this tree is growing so strangely. There's nothing around to restrain it, so why is it growing in such a strange position?"
"have no idea."
"At first, I was surprised to see it from a distance, but now that I'm closer, it's just like that. And thinking about how I wouldn't have sprained my ankle if I hadn't been looking at it, I have the urge to chop it down..."
"Lin Yilan, I worked so hard to carry you here, and now you tell me you want to chop it down? This is public property. If you chop it down at will..."
Hearing Huo Juncheng's serious answer, Lin Yilan helplessly held her forehead and said, "I was just joking. Of course I have to take pictures, but I was planning to climb onto its neck, but now I can't move anymore. Sigh."
"Just be content. Let's take the pictures quickly and go back."
Lin Yilan knew that she had twisted her foot and that climbing a tree was impossible. The idea of climbing up the crooked tree to take a photo was impossible to realize.
"Forget it, forget it. Just take a photo with me." Lin Yilan looked at Huo Juncheng who was standing not far from her, waved her hand, and signaled Huo Juncheng and Lin Yilan to take a photo together.
Huo Juncheng glanced at the crooked tree behind Lin Yilan, then looked at Lin Yilan again. "I think if you want to take a photo with me, this tree might not be in the shot."
After hearing what Huo Juncheng said, Lin Yilan looked back at the tree. She felt that what Huo Juncheng said was indeed true, and scratched her head in embarrassment.
At this moment, a man suddenly jumped out from somewhere, with his hands in his pockets, chewing a piece of gum in his mouth, looking lazy.
"Want to take a picture, you two? Give me your phone and I'll take it for you. Learn from Comrade Lei Feng and be helpful and a good citizen."
Lin Yilan looked at this person. Although she felt that he was a little unreliable, she was afraid of such a small person. What's more, one cannot judge a person by his appearance. She couldn't make a conclusion about him based on his appearance.
However, Huo Juncheng didn't think too much about it. Seeing the man who suddenly appeared, he directly stuffed the phone into his hand and said, "Thank you for your help."
The man took the phone, fiddled with it for a bit, and then pointed it at Lin Yilan and Huo Juncheng. He clicked a few times and took two photos that he thought were beautiful. "The photos are ready."
Because Lin Yilan twisted her ankle and couldn't move around easily, Huo Juncheng went to get his phone. Just as Huo Juncheng's hand was about to touch the phone, the man dodged it nimbly.
"Wait a minute, sir, even though the photos were taken, I didn't say I was going to return the phone to you."
