Chapter 38 Instant Noodles

"Comrade Wen Guoer, what delicious food did you bring? Why does it smell so good?" Lu Jun suddenly felt that his food no longer smelled good.

"It's just homemade noodles with some seasoning." Wen Guoer answered casually.

"This is the first time I've seen noodles this curly." Lu Jun's face was filled with the desire to eat.

Wen Guoer wrapped a tea egg and soaked it in the noodles, and a bowl of high-end instant noodles was ready.

"Comrade Wen Guoer, do you still have this side? Can I exchange it with you?"

Lu Jun's voice became lower and lower, and finally he lowered his head embarrassedly, waiting for Wen Guoer's answer.

Seeing that he was as embarrassed as a child, Wen Guoer didn't tease him. She took out another lunch box from her bag and handed it to him. The noodles and seasonings inside were all packaged in tattered pieces. She couldn't leave traces of the previous era in this era.

"Just add some hot water and soak it, then you can eat it." Wen Guoer did not forget to teach him how to eat it.

Lu Jun hurriedly took it, rummaged through his bag, generously took out two sausages, handed them to Wen Guoer, and ran to make instant noodles.

Wen Guoer was not polite. The red sausages in Harbin were very famous in her previous life, so she accepted them generously. Seeing Aunt Han across from her also looking curious, she said:

"Auntie Han, I haven't touched it yet, you can try it too."

As he spoke, he picked some noodles and put them in her lunch box, and did not forget to pour some soup. After all, isn't the essence of instant noodles this soup?

"That's enough, kid. You won't have enough to eat soon." Aunt Han saw Wen Guoer was so generous and worried that she wouldn't be full soon.

In this day and age, everyone eats their own food when they are away from home. Even if they visit someone else, they have to leave tactfully when it is time for dinner. No one has much food at home, so how can they worry about what is in other people's bowls?

Lu Jun returned, enjoying a taste of instant noodles from the future. Thinking that Wen Guoer was also going to Kyoto, he asked:

"Comrade Wen Guoer, what are you doing in Kyoto?"

"With the army."

The remaining two looked at her at the same time.

"You, you are married?" Lu Jun was very surprised.

"You look very young." I added quickly for fear that she would misunderstand.

"Young man, what are you going to do in Kyoto?" Aunt Han asked.

"I'm an educated youth, assigned to a village below Kyoto. I just came back from visiting my relatives during the Lunar New Year holiday."

Wen Guoer suddenly remembered that she had an older brother, who seemed to be an educated youth in a village below Kyoto. She also thought of two older brothers whom she had never met, and she didn't know what kind of people they were.

"Auntie Han, you are a doctor, right? Why do you want to go to Kyoto?" After Lu Jun said that, he turned around and asked Auntie Han.

"There's no one at home, so I went back to my parents' home." Aunt Han answered somewhat dejectedly.

The two men noticed that Aunt Han was in a bad mood, so they stopped asking questions.

In the afternoon, some of the three people slept while others read.

Before dark, another family got on the carriage, a couple holding a boy of about ten years old.

The couple greeted the three people warmly and arranged their respective beds. The woman glanced at Wen Guoer and Aunt Han's beds, said nothing, and sighed silently.

She climbed above Wen Guoer and signaled the man to give the child to her.

The child was very beautiful. Although he was a boy, he was as delicate as a girl. He was fair and clean, and his big eyes smiled brightly at Wen Guoer.

Wen Guoer then realized something was wrong with the boy's legs. They were limp and unable to support themselves. Wen Guoer guessed it was neurological paralysis of the lower limbs. She suddenly understood the woman's sigh.

"You guys sleep on the lower bunk. It's more convenient and quiet for me to go up there."

Wen Guoer said to the three people, and then she tidied up her bunk and placed her bag on it.

"Thank you so much, young lady." Upon hearing this, the couple were very grateful to Wen Guoer.

"Thank you, sister." The little boy also thanked her politely.

"How did the child's leg get injured?"

Aunt Han also noticed the boy's abnormality at this time, and out of a doctor's instinct, she asked about it.

"Two winters ago, I was playing in the snow and fell, and then I couldn't stand up."

The woman spoke the reason very sadly. The little boy next to her saw that his mother looked unhappy and pulled her hand.

"Mom, I don't feel any pain anymore."

The childish voice echoed in the carriage. Wen Guoer was moved by the little boy's thoughtfulness and thought that it must be very happy to be his mother.

"What did the hospital say?" Aunt Han asked with concern.

"They said he lost consciousness because his nerves were damaged." The woman lifted her son's leg with a look of heartache.

"Can I see his legs?" Aunt Han asked.

"Han Yi is a doctor." Lu Jun interrupted at the right time.

"Okay, let me take a look. Xiaohao, be good." The woman quickly made room and instructed her son.

Aunt Han went forward and asked the boy to lie down. She pressed several places on his body with her hands and asked him how he felt. After a thorough examination, she asked the couple:

"Have you ever seen a Chinese doctor before?"

"Traditional Chinese Medicine?"

The couple was puzzled because the hospitals they went to mostly just did tests and X-rays, and there were no Chinese medicine practitioners on duty.

Aunt Han also expected that they had not seen it. These days, many Chinese medicine doctors have been sent down to the countryside, and those who have not been sent down have all hidden themselves and dared not come out to see patients, for fear of being accidentally labeled as feudal remnants.

"I suggest you seek out a Chinese doctor. Perhaps acupuncture can help the child stand up."

Although Aunt Han also understands Chinese medicine, her skills are only average, and she cannot perform such difficult treatments as nerve repair.

The couple were both happy and worried. They were happy that there was hope for a child, but they were worried about where to find such a great doctor!

As the night deepened, the carriage fell silent. Wen Guoer watched Aunt Han's entire examination, gaining a deeper understanding of the boy's condition.

She knew that she could cure Xiaohao with her ability, but at this moment she could only watch helplessly. This was Xiaohao's sorrow and her sorrow as well.
