Chapter 5 Snow Wolf

At this time, in the big house, Li Jinhua was sitting cross-legged on the kang, mending the soles of shoes and muttering to herself.

"Why did the fourth son suddenly come back? If he had come back a few years later, Wen Guoer might have become the wife of our eldest son, and we could have saved the bride price."

"Shut up and stop talking nonsense. Xiaoguo was originally the wife that his parents found for the fourth son. Don't just think about things that don't exist." Tang Ming tapped the pipe in his hand, disagreeing with Li Jinhua's words.

"How can it be said that it's not happening? Our Xiaolong is already 15 this year, and it seems like it's time for him to get married. But the fourth child is 8 years older than Wen Guoer, so he might as well be with our Xiaolong."

Tang Ming closed his eyes and was too lazy to pay attention to her.

The second son, Xiaohu, who was playing by the window, happened to overhear the conversation between the two. Xiaohu was 9 years old this year and did not understand the twists and turns between adults. He only understood that his mother said that she wanted her fourth aunt to marry her eldest brother.

After lunch, the temperature was a little higher, so the four Tang brothers discussed it and decided to go to the back mountain and collect some firewood.

Wen Guoer was also very curious about the real environment, so she said to Tang's mother, "Mom, let's go for a walk and see if we can pick some pine cones in the outer woods to fry and make snacks."

"Okay, take the backpack and let's go!" When the children playing nearby saw this, they also clamored to go, and Tang's mother agreed without hesitation.

The family walked towards the mountain in a mighty procession. The Tang family was at the northernmost end of the village, very close to the back mountain. They arrived in a short while. Wen Guoer stood at the foot of the mountain and looked at the mountain in front of her. This was a treasure mountain. Many precious medicinal materials in later generations came from this mountain, but now the people at the foot of the mountain lived in such hardship.

The path up the mountain was difficult to walk on, and one could easily slip if not careful. Tang Zhan and his three brothers walked until they were at the back, following closely behind Tang's mother and Wen Guo'er.

The children had long since run away. On weekdays, when the adults went to work, the children's job was to go up the mountain to collect grass for pigs and firewood. They were very familiar with the surrounding environment.

Suddenly, Wen Guoer slipped and fell straight backwards.

"My white and cute little butt is going to be split into four pieces now, right? Woo woo~" Wen Guoer's heart was crying.

However, the imagined pain did not come, and the whole person fell into a hard, but warm embrace. Wen Guoer looked up and met Tang Zhan's clear jawline, and above that were a pair of deep eyes.

At this time, Tang Zhan's arms were tightly wrapped around her slender waist.

"Are all women's waists so soft?"...

"I accidentally stepped on the ice." Wen Guoer made up an excuse, broke free from his restraints, and chased after Tang's mother, her cheeks flushed with shyness.

Tang's mother, who was walking in front, saw everything but turned a blind eye, not even changing her pace. "No one knows a child better than his mother, you little bastard, how could I have misjudged you!"

Tang Zhan behind him lowered his head and slowed down his pace, with a slight smile on his face.

There was really nothing to pick up near the foot of the mountain now. The children in the village had searched through it countless times. The group picked up a few baskets of firewood and headed back.

Something seemed to move in the pile of dead leaves next to her. Wen Guoer rubbed her eyes and confirmed again that the dead leaves were floating gently.

Tang Zhan followed her gaze, took a few steps forward, and pushed aside the dead leaves. A snow-white, fluffy puppy appeared. Perhaps it was born not long ago, and in such cold weather, its breathing was very weak.

Wen Guoer walked forward and held it in her arms. The little thing seemed to feel the warmth and opened its eyes with difficulty to look at her. Just this one look melted Wen Guoer's heart.

"Can I keep it?"

Wen Guoer knew she was already living under someone else's roof, and she felt a bit embarrassed to admit she wanted to take on a dog. While she had enough food, her belongings couldn't be taken out of the open. She couldn't let anyone watch a dog grow up simply by absorbing the essence of nature!

"It's a snow wolf. Are you sure you want to keep it?"

"Wolf! You said it was a wolf? But, why is it here?" Wen Guoer looked at the little cutie in front of her in disbelief. There was no trace of a wolf at all!

"Maybe the mother wolf had an accident and hid it here." Although it was possible, his years of field combat experience told him that this was the fact.

"If you want to raise it, then raise it. The first thing it sees is you, so it won't hurt you. Just raise it like a little wolfhound." Seeing the reluctance in her eyes, Tang Zhan couldn't bear to refuse her.

"Thank you!" Wen Guoer happily held the little wolf cub in her arms and jumped forward to chase the large group.

At this moment, Tang Zhan's heart was filled with the little girl's smiling eyes, which looked like a starry sky, shining with bright light.
