Chapter 140 Illness

Chapter 140 Illness

The lunch delivered by the enemy tasted even better than usual.

Whenever Yan Qing ate, he felt a great sense of satisfaction whenever he thought of Pei Ning's stern face when he delivered the food.

He unusually overate, and because he ate too much at lunch, he didn't cook his own portion for dinner.

An Jin couldn't stop laughing, and after the live stream ended that night, she laughed hysterically at him.

"Did you take any digestive aids?"

An Jin made a gesture, reached out and rubbed Yan Qing's stomach a few times, and asked him if he had taken his medicine.

"have eaten."

Yan Qing's expression was not good.

"These digestive tablets aren't working either."

An Jin complained and turned to go back to her bedroom to pack her things.

Yan Qing followed An Jin uncomfortably, and when she saw An Jin packing her things, she didn't react for a moment.

Why are you packing your things?

Yan Qing asked weakly.

In the midst of her busy schedule, An Jin gave him a perfunctory reply: "Go to the hospital, the antacids aren't working, are you just going to tough it out like this?"

"I'll go by myself," Yan Qing said gently. "You have a live broadcast tomorrow, and it's too tiring for you to accompany me to the hospital so late."

An Jin reached out and grabbed Yan Qing's mouth, warning, "It's late at night, don't make me beat you up."

An Jin, who is good at handling conflicts between her fans and herself, naturally knows what the correct way to handle this situation is.

She packed her things, tied up her long, loose hair with a hair tie, took a coat from the closet and put it on, urging Yan Qing, who was standing there in a daze, to change her shoes and get ready to go out.

An Jin didn't have a driver's license, and Yan Qing was sick, so she paid for a ride-hailing service and arrived at the hospital in just over half an hour.

It was already late at night.

The hospital's outpatient department has been closed; only the emergency department is open to the general public.

An Jin helped Yan Qing sit down on a chair in the hospital lobby to rest, while she went to ask the security guard sitting next to the outpatient department about the registration process.

The security guard, a seasoned veteran of the hospital, succinctly pointed An Jin in the right direction.

With her shoulder bag slung over her shoulder, An Jin said thank you and, carrying her phone and Yan Qing's ID card, went to register.

The hospital is crowded; you have to queue to register and also to see a doctor.

The hospital lobby, filled with the smell of disinfectant, was filled with the wails of patients suffering from various ailments.

Compared to the wails and visible wounds of the others, Yan Qing, who was just feeling nauseous from overeating, seemed somewhat out of place.

He seemed perfectly fine, dressed neatly, and quiet.

A middle-aged man who was accompanying his family to see a doctor and was waiting for his number to be called saw him sitting calmly in the chair without moving, while the pretty young girl who came with him was busy running around. He asked Yan Qing in confusion.

"Why are you making such a young girl run around like this? Are you sick?"

Yan Qing felt embarrassed by the question, and he nodded: "Yes, it's not a serious illness."

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man wore an envious expression that seemed to say, "You're so lucky, kid."

"Was that your girlfriend who came with you?"

Yan Qing nodded, and said yes with a touch of pride.

"Oh my, you're really lucky to have found such a nice young girl who treats you so well."

Yan Qing looked at the middle-aged woman leaning on the middle-aged man's shoulder, her face pale, and asked softly, "Is she alright?"

The middle-aged man nodded: "It's alright. It's just an old problem with my stomach. My wife's company got a big order a while ago, and she's been working overtime for a while. Her diet hasn't been very regular either. She ate a late-night snack tonight and her stomach started to feel uncomfortable."

The lady, who was resting with her eyes closed, slowly opened them upon hearing this.

She glanced at Yan Qing apologetically and complained to her husband, "Why do you tell everyone everything?"

The middle-aged man chuckled and stopped talking about his family. Instead, he looked at An Jin, who was carrying a lot of receipts and walking towards them.

"Wow, little sister, you're really pretty."

An Jin sees countless compliments every day, and she remains remarkably calm when faced with praise from middle-aged men.

"How are you? Is your stomach still upset?"

An Jin did not answer the middle-aged man's question immediately, but instead asked Yan Qing how he felt.

Yan Qing smiled and said softly, "Much better."

An Jin then said, "Right? I was often sick when I was a child. Many times, even when I was in a lot of pain, I would feel much better as soon as I smelled the disinfectant at the hospital."

The two exuded a clingy, intimate feeling unique to young couples when they were together.

Middle-aged men have also been through this age; he and his wife were in the same situation when they were dating.

"Tsk tsk tsk."

A middle-aged man jokingly said to his sick wife with envy, "Wife, wife, look how other people care for their husbands. You should learn from them."

Even while suffering from his illness, his wife couldn't resist rolling her eyes and saying, "Are you asking for a beating?"

The middle-aged man was quite pleased with himself for this, laughing as he accepted his wife's slap.

Upon seeing this, An Jin gave Yan Qing a questioning look: "You know him?"

Yan Qing smiled and said, "We just met."

An Jin understood, and she began to converse skillfully with the middle-aged man.

"Did you bring your wife to see a doctor, brother?"

The middle-aged man chuckled and said, "Yes, my wife has a sensitive stomach. Are you here with your boyfriend for a checkup too?"

An Jin laughed: "What a coincidence, he also had an upset stomach."

An Jin blurted out the whole story: "At noon, I ordered takeout and his favorite dishes. Goodness, he bragged about it so much that he felt unwell afterward and couldn't eat dinner."

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged woman weakly replied, "You ate too much, didn't you? Did you take any digestive aids?"

An Jinheng felt embarrassed at first glance, and Yan Qing, who was looking down at her feet, said, "It didn't work, so we came to the hospital."

An Jin's words immediately piqued the sick lady's desire to chat.

An Jin complained about Yan Qing, and the woman complained about the man. Yan Qing was embarrassed and ashamed, while the man chuckled and refuted the woman.

The two couples, of different ages, sat together chatting, and the cheerful atmosphere greatly reduced the discomfort of the two patients.

After waiting for about half an hour, the middle-aged woman's number was called, and she went to see the doctor first.

An Jin and Yan Qing, who arrived later, continued to sit in their chairs and wait.

An Jin saw that Yan Qing's cheeks were flushed with shyness, so she smiled and bent down to look at his face.

"How can you be so cute? Why are you blushing when I'm talking bad about you? Don't be shy, lift it up so I can see."

Yan Qing reached out and pushed An Jin's face away from hers: "I won't let you see it."

An Jin feigned anger: "Why aren't you showing it to me yet?"

She reached out and started to pry Yan Qing's head off, but Yan Qing stubbornly refused to comply with An Jin's wishes.

An Jin wasn't as strong as Yan Qing. After struggling for a while, seeing that everyone around her was busy with their own things, she smiled slyly and gave Yan Qing a quick kiss on the cheek.

After kissing her, she looked at Yan Qing's flushed cheeks and let out a wicked sneer: "Little beauty~ You think you can't get what I want if you don't give it to me?"

As An Jin spoke, he reached out and pinched Yan Qing's chin, turning his face to face: "You've never dared to say no to me, Master An Jin. This time I'll teach you a lesson. If you disobey me again next time, it won't be this simple."

Normally, Yan Qing would cooperate quite well with An Jin's role-playing.

Unfortunately, the two were in the hospital this time, and although An Jin spoke softly, it still made Yan Qing feel ashamed.

He was kissed, and overwhelmed with a mix of shyness and joy, he didn't want to say anything more.

When he didn't speak, An Jin liked to tease him even more, just like a child, touching and provoking him.

Yan Qing really couldn't stand An Jin's physical advances. He liked An Jin treating him this way, but he didn't like An Jin doing this to him in front of so many people.

Yan Qing's long eyelashes fluttered as he softly told An Jin, "Stop teasing me."

An Jin chuckled and stopped what she was doing.

She didn't stop because of Yan Qing's words.

She stopped because it was already Yan Qing's turn to see the doctor.

An Jin reached out and helped Yan Qing up: "Okay, I won't tease you anymore. It's our turn. Let's go see the doctor."

She helped him into the doctor's office and explained the situation to the stern-faced female doctor.

The female doctor, with a stethoscope around her neck and glasses reflecting a cold light, calmly stated her diagnosis: "It seems to be indigestion from overeating. Are there any other symptoms?"

An Jin glanced at Yan Qing and said on Yan Qing's behalf, "There are no more doctors."

The female doctor hummed in agreement and withdrew her hand from Yan Qing's stomach.

She looked at Yan Qing's flushed face, frowned and asked, "Do you have a fever? Your face is so red."

Upon hearing the female doctor's words, An Jin almost lost control of her expression, while Yan Qing was so ashamed that she wanted to bury her head in her stomach.

An Jin coughed lightly and said, "He shouldn't have a fever. I was just teasing him and his face turned red."

The female doctor glanced at the two of them knowingly and said, "Let's take their temperatures first to see if they have a fever."

She opened the drawer, took out a thermometer, shook it a few times, and then had Yan Qing tuck it under his arm.

"Check your temperature in five minutes. If you don't have a fever, take the prescription to the pharmacy to get your medicine."

After the female doctor finished speaking, she leaned over the table and quickly wrote a prescription, then handed it to An Jin.

With one hand holding the form and the other supporting Yan Qing, An Jin left the office with both hands occupied.

Five minutes later, An Jin took the thermometer that Yan Qing handed her.

"I'm fine, no fever."

She stood up and said to Yan Qing, "I'm going to return the thermometer. You sit here and don't move. We'll go get the medicine together later, and then we'll go home."

Yan Qing naturally nodded and agreed.

He sat in the lobby waiting for An Jin to return, and on the way he encountered a middle-aged man and woman who had just finished their check-up and were coming downstairs.

"Hey bro, why are you sitting here all alone? Where's your girlfriend?"

"She went to return the thermometer."

"Oh, you've seen the doctor? How did it go? It wasn't anything serious, was it?"

Yan Qing said gently, "I've finished my checkup. I'll pick up my medicine and go home later. What about you? What did the doctor say?"

The middle-aged man sighed: "I just had the checkup, so I don't know yet."

After saying that, the middle-aged man, supporting his wife with one hand and holding the hospital documents in the other, went to the doctor's office.

When the two arrived, they happened to run into An Jin, who was returning a thermometer.

An Jin smiled and greeted the two of them before turning and leaving the doctor's office.

"Come on, my little mermaid, let's go get the medicine."

An Jin helped Yan Qing, who was waiting, to her feet, chuckled and teased her, then led her to a pharmacy in another building to get the medicine.

It was almost 3 a.m. when I got home after the doctor's visit.

An Jin yawned as she boiled a kettle of water for Yan Qing, watched him take his medicine, and then went back to her room to prepare for bed.

Just before going to sleep, she seemed to remember something, and with a swift movement, she jumped out of bed, ran to the living room, found her phone, and quickly started tapping on the screen.

"Hmph, all done."

After sending the long message, An Jin put down her phone with satisfaction, turned around and went back to her bedroom to go to sleep.

Early the next morning.

Pei Ning, who had just woken up, picked up her phone and was speechless for the first time that morning.

Speechless, Pei Ning thought it over and over, and then quickly made a phone call to Xue Mingyue.

A high-end residential area in the city center.

Xue Mingyue, who was still half asleep, was woken up by Pei Ning's relentless barrage of phone calls.

He yawned as he answered the phone, and Pei Ning's words on the other end of the line dispelled his drowsiness.

"What the hell?"

"You delivered the goods to her door, then fed that mistress until she was stuffed, and then An Jin blamed you for buying too much?"

Unable to contain herself any longer, Xue Mingyue unleashed a torrent of venom: "Dude, you don't have to go this far to be a simp, do you? Aren't you going to swear at me?"

Pei Ning on the other end of the phone remained suspiciously silent.

Xue Mingyue: "???"

"Old Pei, stop playing dead with me and talk to me."

Pei Ning's reflective voice came from the other end of the phone: "An An did indeed only fall asleep at four in the morning last night."

Xue Mingyue exclaimed in disbelief, "Did you have a high fever last night and damage your brain? What does this have to do with you? That guy had never eaten anything good before and couldn't control himself, so he ate too much. You're really blaming yourself."

“Old Pei, listen to me, the thing you should do right now is to go to that door and tell that man to get lost, and then block An Jin.”

Pei Ning responded much faster this time.

He said coldly on the other end of the phone, "I got rid of that guy and made An'an sad, giving you the opportunity to take advantage of the situation?"

Xue Mingyue, completely taken aback by the incredible turn of events, hadn't even thought of this: ...

"You're thinking too badly of me."

Xue Mingyue, who was innocently wronged, said, "Old Pei, is it possible that you were framing me when you said that?"

Pei Ning: "No way, I won't give you that chance."

Enraged, Xue Mingyue said, "If I wanted to get involved between you and An Jin, I wouldn't need you to give me the chance, okay?"

Given An Jin's personality, she doesn't need any opportunities at all.

Pei Ning said quietly, "You'd better not think about it."

He sighed, having made up his mind: "Where did you buy the necklace you posted on WeChat Moments yesterday?"

Xue Mingyue asked warily, "Why are you asking this?"

Xue Mingyue's sister's birthday is coming up soon, and Xue Mingyue has been thinking about what gift to give her. Yesterday, he finally picked out a necklace and posted it on his WeChat Moments as his sister's birthday present.

Pei Ning asked Xue Mingyue, "Don't you think this necklace would look beautiful on An'an?"

Xue Mingyue thought about it for a moment, following Pei Ning's words.

Should it be worn around An Jin's neck...?

He recalled their meeting at the coffee shop that day, and his Adam's apple bobbed.

The men on both ends of the phone fell silent.

Coming to her senses, Xue Mingyue coughed and said, "I'll send you the sales representative's contact information later."

Pei Ning on the other end of the phone snorted coldly and hung up without saying anything.

Hearing the dial tone from her phone, Xue Mingyue said awkwardly, "What kind of attitude is this person? You can't agree with them, and you can't disagree with them either."
