Chapter 51 She killed someone.

Chapter 51 She killed someone.

The motion-activated lights in the stairwell flickered on and off, but thankfully it was daytime, and outside the alley was a bustling market with people coming and going.

But once you enter the residential buildings inside the alley, all the noise seems to be muted, even though the alley isn't very deep.

In the stairwell, their footsteps sounded abrupt. As they turned the last step, Ruan Yi heard her father's cough mixed with a sticky swallowing sound.

"We're here, Xiaoyi, come in quickly."

Cheng Huaiyuan's voice was tinged with joy.

Pushing open the slightly ajar security door, a damp, musty smell mixed with an unpleasant dusty odor rushed out.

Ruan Yi hesitated as she stepped into the house, her throat tightening.

She didn't see the steaming hot dishes she had expected; instead, she saw two cockroaches crawling around the corner of the table.

There wasn't even a hint of the aroma of oil in the air.

Ruan Yiqiang suppressed the nausea in his stomach and casually moved towards the door, trying to get closer to the exit.

But Cheng Huaiyuan's body blocked the doorway.

"Dad, didn't you say there would be sweet and sour pork ribs?"

The girl's voice sounded particularly abrupt in the silence.

"Xiaoyi, don't rush."

Cheng Huaiyuan slowly turned his head, his yellowish eyes bloodshot, and his lips curled into an unnatural smile.

"Isn't the meat already here?"

The door lock slammed shut with a loud "click".

Cheng Huaiyuan's finger paused on the doorknob for a moment, then he pulled it back sharply, the door panel colliding with the door frame with a piercing sound.

Ruan Yi rushed to the door and slammed her palm on the door panel.

What does Dad want to do just because she won't give him money?

"Dad! What do you mean? Dad?!"

This is her biological father. Even tigers don't eat their cubs, and besides, she used to have such a good relationship with her father.

Ruan Yi had already decided that if her father's health problems were serious, she would pay for his medical expenses, but only the medical bills.

But what is he trying to do now? Use her to force his mother to send money?

Only an empty echo answered her; Cheng Huaiyuan's hurried footsteps gradually faded into the distance, disappearing completely around the corner of the stairwell.

The girl's screams pierced through the walls, buzzing in his ears.

Even though I wove this nightmare myself, I don't even have the courage to witness it with my own eyes.

The man rushed into the darkness, as if that would allow him to escape the fact that he had personally pushed his own flesh and blood into the abyss.

"It's nothing. Xiaoyi is going to get married and have children anyway, it's just a matter of time. It's nothing, it's nothing..."

Ruan Yi's palms were already red from pounding on the door. When she withdrew her hand, her palms were full of helplessness and anger. She took out her phone from her bag to call someone to rescue her.

Ruan Yi opened the chat interface, preparing to type a message to Gu Zhi, when the silence in the room was suddenly broken by a muffled thud.

Heavy footsteps echoed from the connected room, each step pounding heavily on the floor.

The sound grew closer, accompanied by heavy, labored breathing, one breath after another.

As the stench hit her, Ruan Yi looked up abruptly, only to be met with a pair of bulging, bloodshot eyes.

The man's face was covered in bruises, and his crooked jaw was twisted at an odd angle, as if it had been broken by brute force and then misaligned and healed.

How could it be him?!

Even though he was completely unrecognizable, it was still possible to tell that the other person was Ruan Zhengyi.

Didn't he illegally cross the border? Is there a mistake in the police investigation?

Her jaw was injured like this... Ruan Zhengyi was the kidnapper who abducted her! But they had already found out that the mother and son had boarded a ship and escaped abroad.

Why would they give up the opportunity to escape their debts and go abroad to be here?

Without any hesitation, the instinct for survival propelled Ruan Yi to run wildly towards the kitchen.

Her phone has emergency contacts set up, so she can call for help with a single click by triggering the SOS emergency contact.

Her trembling fingers frantically pressed the button on the right side of the phone, and just as she was about to press it one last time, a demonic arm suddenly gripped her neck.

The man's furious roar made her eardrums ache, and Ruan Yi's neck was slammed hard against the edge of the stove.

The phone flew through the air in an arc before crashing to the ground, its screen instantly cracking.

The button is forever frozen in the void, half an inch away from the fingertip.

Ruan Yi was thrown heavily onto the messy floor. Ignoring the intense pain, she struggled to crawl quickly towards where her phone had fallen.

"Still trying to call for help?"

The next second, a tearing pain shot through her scalp. Ruan Yi was suddenly pulled back, her body involuntarily dragged towards the door by the man's force.

Ruan Yi felt so much pain that her vision blurred and she cried out in agony. She struggled wildly with her hands at her sides, trying to grab onto something to steady herself.

My fingertips brushed against the edge of the stove and touched a cold, hard piece of metal.

The man was still pulling her hair forcefully, his steps hurried, his gaze fixed on the doorway ahead.

"Ruan Zhengyi! What exactly do you want to do!"

The girl was clutching something tightly in her hand, hiding it behind her back, close to her forearm.

"What are you doing? That madman from the Shen family beat me up like this, how do you expect me to get revenge?"

Ruan Zhengyi's already disfigured face became even more ferocious and terrifying at this moment.

"He beat you up, go find him!"

Ruan Yi forced herself to meet the other person's gaze, her resentful eyes filled with tears of physical pain.

Ruan Zhengyi seemed to choke on something, and shuddered a little when he recalled the excruciating pain of that punch, but such cowardice only lasted for a moment before being overshadowed by an even stronger sense of ferocity.

"You're afraid of Chen Xun, ha... You only dare to show me your pathetic, weak strength time and time again?"

Ruan Zhengyi suddenly raised his hand, about to slap the girl's face with a whoosh, but as his wrist was halfway up, he seemed to suddenly remember something.

He slowly withdrew his hand, his fingertips brushing against Ruan Yi's chin, leaving a disgusting sensation.

"I won't take action this time."

His voice was extremely low, and the greed in his eyes was almost overflowing. He looked up at the red dot reflected by the miniature camera on top of the cabinet.

"Soon, you'll be my woman, carrying my child... Then, no matter how much you and that bitch Ruan Ying struggle, it will be useless."

Ruan Yi's eyes widened, her blood seemed to freeze instantly, as if she had heard the most absurd thing in the world.

Ruan Zhengyi is her mother's nephew and cousin. The two are close relatives, yet he could say such immoral things.

"Ruan Zhengyi, you're insane! You beast!"

The fierce look on the man's face twisted into an almost manic, grotesque expression.

"Keep cursing! Once I get my hands on the Ruan family, you'll be kneeling at my feet begging for my life!"

The man gripped her collar tightly, making a sharp tearing sound, and the desire and greed in his eyes were nauseating.

How disgusting! Just because she's a villainous female supporting character, does that mean any kind of heinous plot can happen?

Rather than be defiled by such a beast...

Her life will never end in humiliation again.

Ruan Yi stopped struggling, and the man smiled and relaxed his guard a little. Just as he got closer, Ruan Yi's hand reached out from behind her waist with lightning speed.

The next second, she used all her strength and without any hesitation, plunged the blade straight into Ruan Zhengyi's neck.

With a "plop," the warm, viscous liquid gushed out the instant the blade pierced through.

Blood splattered all over the wall from the punctured artery, and a strong smell of rust instantly filled the air.

The man's movements came to an abrupt halt, his hand suddenly released, and he stared wide-eyed in disbelief, clutching his neck and staggering backward, each step leaving bloody trails on the ground.

The girl stood frozen in place, her hand gripping the knife handle trembling violently.

The anger was still burning, but even more fear poured down like ice water. Ruan Yi looked at her blood-stained hands and felt a wave of nausea wash over her.

She killed someone.

With a loud bang, the door was kicked open from the outside.

The man rushed into the room, but his hurried footsteps stopped abruptly the moment he saw what was inside.

As far as the eye could see, crimson blood soaked the floor, and fresh blood continued to gush from Ruan Zhengyi's neck.

The girl stood in the middle of the mess, her usually bright eyes now frighteningly empty, and she gripped the knife tightly in her hand.

The man's pupils contracted sharply, the shock lingering in his eyes for only half a second before being overwhelmed by a torrent of heartache.

Fu Jingchen walked over quietly, without asking any questions, but simply reached out and gently enveloped the girl's cold, trembling hand in his palm.

"Xiaoyi, you did a great job."

The man slowly pulled the blood-stained knife from her stiff hand.

Xiao Yi protected herself.

"Very brave, very capable."
