Chapter 68: Falling Wisdom

Chapter 68: Falling Wisdom

The man gently placed her into the passenger seat.

The moment his hand released her, Ruan Yi's words exploded out like a firecracker with its string cut.

"Fu Jingchen! Are you stupid? Is it worth falling out with the Anderson family? Did you get this CEO position by luck? You don't know how to back down, and you're even taking NovaVoy out on me?"

He didn't say anything, went around to the driver's seat and sat down. Just as he fastened his seatbelt, the small firecrackers next to him continued to light.

"Do you know how many entrepreneurs aspire to NovaVoy? Nguyen has been dreaming of going in that direction, and you're getting involved in this trivial matter..."

"Because it's you."

He suddenly spoke, his voice as deep as if it were submerged in water. Ruan Yi's words caught in her throat. The man turned to look at her, his eyes darker than the night.

"You were drugged."

If it were him, nothing would happen.

Fu Jingchen gripped the steering wheel with his fingertips, slowly tightening his grip.

“I haven’t always been this assertive. When NovaVoy was just starting out, I was also running around trying to build relationships, serving tea and water and flattering people. It was common for me to drink until I had a stomach hemorrhage in order to sign a contract.”

"I can tolerate all of this."

“But you can’t.” The man looked into her eyes.

"I can't stand it when it comes to you."

Ruan Yi was completely stunned, her mind buzzing.

When he said he liked her last time, she thought he was just saying it because he was having a good time killing people and had gone crazy.

But the seriousness in his eyes at that moment seemed so convincing that Ruan Yi looked at him and found it all absurd.

Could this be the legendary eyes that look so affectionately at dogs?

Ruan Yi abruptly turned her face away, her ears burning slightly.

Last time Fu Jingchen said he liked her, she didn't respond, and this time she didn't know what to say at all.

The man seemed to see through her embarrassment, turned back to start the car, and softened his tone.

"Haven't you always wanted to know the management logic behind NovaVoy?"

Ruan Yi was taken aback. "Huh?"

“Anderson won’t give up easily. NovaVoy is going to have a tough fight ahead.” He looked ahead, a hint of sarcasm in his eyes.

"Didn't Xiaoyi want to learn something? Here's your chance."

"Whether Xiaoyi can fully learn from me depends on her abilities."

Ruan Yi was completely shocked. What kind of time was this? He was still thinking about teaching her something?

She knew all too well how dangerous this level of business warfare was; a slight misstep could lead to utter ruin.

My heart skipped a beat for no reason.

Why is Fu Jingchen completely different from the character she remembers?

Ruan Yi pinched her arm hard.

If it weren't for those jumbled plots still lingering in my mind, I would know that he wasn't like this at all.

Otherwise... just because of his face, he said those things.

She might really end up like she was back then.

Like Ruan Yi when she first met Professor Fu, she was repeatedly captivated by his award-winning acting skills.

I foolishly fell in love with him.

When Ruan Yi closed the notification box indicating that the rescheduling application had been successfully sent, her finger hovered over the phone screen for two seconds before finally turning it off.

Without hesitation, she decided to stay in the United States for a while, to stay by Fu Jingchen's side, and to delve into the tough battle between NovaVoy and the Anderson family.

When she made the decision, even she wasn't sure if she could really help NovaVoy.

Fu Jingchen revealed all his techniques and strategies to her.

Now, as Ruan Yi stares at the dense supplier data on the computer screen, she can automatically sort out different response paths in her mind, and even her breathing is a beat more steady than before.

"Anderson cut off our supply of core components through three external suppliers."

Ruan Yi pushed the organized documents in front of the man; the edges of the folder were slightly curled from her frequent handling.

“I checked the upstream channels of these three companies, and they are all related to Anderson’s subsidiaries. I have asked the purchasing department to suspend payments and contacted alternative suppliers. The sample test report will be available this afternoon.”

She used to always use "maybe" or "perhaps" as prefixes when reporting on her work, but now she says, "I've already made arrangements."

The man didn't speak, but simply reached out and tucked the stray hairs that had fallen across her forehead behind her ear, pausing slightly when his fingertips touched her earlobe.

"His kitten is already capable of handling things on its own."

Ruan Yi didn't have time to pay attention to his actions and continued to talk about the next step of the docking plan.

As his Adam's apple bobbed slightly, the slight sense of relief in his heart dissipated, replaced by an unprecedented sense of panic.

The girl's focused profile, with her eyelashes casting soft shadows under her eyes, was a truly pleasing sight.

The kitten, whom he had just tamed, would act like he was being affectionate even when he scratched it. But now it's about to grow sharp claws and learn to hunt for itself, and it will no longer snuggle in his arms.

He suddenly felt a little scared.

I'm afraid she might suddenly discover one day that she finds the thrill of hunting more enjoyable than staying in NovaVoy.

Fearing that she would no longer need anyone to shield her from the wind and rain, she turned around and headed towards her own vast territory, not even bothering to look back.

Panic, like a sharp needle, pierces the softest part of the heart.

He had watched Ruan Yi become a better version of herself, and now he wanted to pull her back into his arms.

Let her turn back into that little girl who only looks up at him, asks him about everything, and needs him.

At a dinner party hosted by NovaVoy's business partners.

The other party clearly had ill intentions; after a few drinks, they began to steer the conversation toward Ruan Yi.

"Haha, Miss Ruan is truly an interesting beauty. I wonder if you would be interested in coming to our side for better development? The benefits are negotiable."

The other party let out a standard American old-money laugh, but you could hear the flippancy and hidden meaning in his tone.

In the past, Ruan Yi would probably have been about to lose her temper.

But at that moment, the girl picked up her wine glass, stood up with a smile, and spoke in a gentle yet measured tone.

“Mr. Johnson, you flatter me. I still have a lot to learn from Mr. Fu. I have no other intentions.”

I reached out and gently touched the other person's cup.

"However, speaking of better development, there is a more suitable entry point regarding energy development projects. I'll optimize the plan and send it to you later."

The personal topic was subtly shifted to the business, and the other party's face stiffened for a moment, but ultimately they couldn't push it any further.

As Ruan Yi sat down, she caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye that Fu Jingchen's polite smile had turned into a cold, hard line.

He wanted to speak up and stand up for her.

In the shadow cast by the tablecloth, Ruan quietly moved closer to him, her high heels touching the toes of his Oxford shoes.

Of course it didn't hurt. To him, it was just like a cat tentatively stepping on its owner's instep with its paw pads.

Seeing that Fu Jingchen hadn't let up, Ruan Yi simply reached out and pinched his thigh hard through his trousers.

"Have you lost your mind?" Ruan Yi complained in a very low voice.

The other person had only made a couple of barbed jokes, and she had already laughed and changed the subject.

The man's breathing paused noticeably, and a very soft groan escaped his throat, as if he had been rendered speechless by the sudden act of intimacy.

He turned his head, his eyes filled with complex emotions, as if he wanted to say something, but Ruan Yi silenced him with a single look.

Ruan Yi withdrew her hand and continued chatting with the CEO of the business partner opposite her, smiling and rambling on about this and that.

But no one saw that under the tablecloth, the girl's high heels were still gently touching the top of his shoes.

Feelings, like wildly growing parasitic plants, have long since entangled a man's once well-ordered world and taken deep root in his very bones.

Everything about her became a string that tugged at his nerves.

The man who once thought he could always stand at the center of reason is now willingly letting this emotion tear apart his composure.

Just like now, he knows perfectly well that excessive emotions will affect cooperation, and he knows perfectly well that businessmen should prioritize profit.

When someone who is used to being in control of everything starts to be led by their own emotions.

Beneath his calm and composed exterior lies a heart that beats wildly for her.

The so-called "loss of consciousness" is nothing more than the most turbulent and real appearance of love when it breaks through the dam.

It's love, not a loss of intelligence.
