Chapter 141 Going Home to Have a Baby
When Ruan Yi was dressed and carried out of the bedroom, the suite's living room was already empty, with Chen Xun nowhere to be seen.
I had just breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he was finally gone, when a group of people suddenly rushed into the entrance hall.
He was a police officer in an American-style uniform, with a blank expression on his face, and he spoke in cold, formulaic English.
The lead officer walked straight to Fu Jingchen, flashed his badge, and said, "Mr. Fu, we suspect you are involved in a shooting murder case. Please cooperate with us."
Ruan Yi broke free from Fu Jingchen's hand and stood firmly on the ground, immediately stepping in front of him without thinking.
"You must be mistaken! How could he be involved in a murder case!"
“Madam,” the officer said in a still-cold tone, “if the suspect resists, we will take coercive measures. Please think it over carefully.”
Fu Jingchen's gaze darkened slightly. He raised his hand to touch Ruan Yi's head, then lowered his head to place a light kiss on her forehead. His voice was steady as he spoke.
"Don't be afraid, I'll handle this. I'll have Assistant Li come pick you up right away, and he'll take you home later, okay?"
Ruan Yi hesitated for a moment with red eyes, but still nodded. The police officer stepped forward to handcuff Fu Jingchen, but was stopped by his raised hand.
“You need to show me an arrest warrant, and I need to contact my lawyer.”
The officer paused, took out the arrest warrant, and handed him his phone. Fu Jingchen took the phone and then allowed the officers to surround him and lead him outside.
Ruan Yi stood there, looking at Fu Jingchen's wrists, which were handcuffed, her mind filled with lingering worry.
Unable to sit still in the room, Ruan Yi couldn't wait any longer and immediately chased after him out of the room, wanting to call Assistant Li to find out the truth.
How could Fu Jingchen possibly be involved in a murder case!
It wasn't until I stepped onto the cold tile floor that I belatedly realized I wasn't wearing shoes.
"Your lover lets you run around barefoot all the time?"
A man's voice sounded from behind, filled with angry mockery.
When Ruan Yi turned around stiffly, she saw Chen Xun leaning against the wall of the corridor, staring intently at her feet.
Without thinking, she rushed over and slapped Shen Xun across the face. The sound of the slap was crisp, and her palm went slightly numb.
"Did you frame him?!"
Chen Xun didn't dodge, but simply looked down at the girl, his fingertips gently tracing the reddened side of her cheek.
"I framed him? How could that be! I..."
He paused, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he only tugged at his lips and said, "Forget it, you won't believe anything I say."
As soon as he finished speaking, the man suddenly bent down, picked Ruan Yi up, and forced her legs to wrap around his waist.
"Chen Xun, what are you doing!" Ruan Yi struggled, pounding his shoulder hard, her heart pounding in shock.
"What?" Chen Xun looked down at her. "What else could I possibly do to my wife?"
"Get out! Who's your wife? I want to break off the engagement! Put me down, you madman!"
Ruan Yi was furious and reached out to grab the hair at the back of his head.
"The engagement can't be dissolved. I've thought about waiting until you're willing."
The man groaned softly as he was pulled, but he didn't stop walking, carrying her towards the elevator as if he didn't feel any pain.
“But didn’t you say I’ve been pressuring you? Then I’ll put into practice the ‘me’ you think I am.”
"Where are you taking me?" Ruan Yi panicked completely and struggled even more dramatically.
As she struggled, the man slapped her large hand lightly on her full, elastic breasts with a "smack".
Ruan Yi froze instantly, humiliated by his actions.
"Don't move around, or you'll fall." His tone was a mix of violent ruthlessness and suppressed frustration.
"I already said I would do what you said."
"Take you home—to have a baby."
The floor-to-ceiling windows of the private office revealed a deep, dark night.
The man leaned back in his leather chair, tapping his fingertips lightly on the table, humming an old-fashioned tune. A stack of photos lay scattered on the table, but his gaze was fixed on the surveillance video on the computer screen.
In the footage, Fu Wang's "corpse" was stuffed into a thick black plastic bag and silently placed into a cleaning truck.
The surveillance footage had been completely destroyed by Fu Jingchen's men in the hotel's system, leaving no backup.
But his plan was much earlier than Fu Jingchen's, and he obtained this unique video recording in advance.
The man smiled, his eyes crinkling slightly; he was in a very good mood.
After all, the victims were members of the Anderson family, and with this "ironclad evidence" on the screen, even if Fu Jingchen had connections everywhere, he would have to obediently go to jail.
What's even more ingenious is that this video is a double bargaining chip.
Firstly, it proves that Ruan Yi's initial judgment that "Fu Jingchen would not hurt her" was completely wrong—if she had entered the hotel suite with Fu Wang at that time, she might have been injured as well.
She no longer had any excuse to get rid of herself.
Secondly, he could use someone else to do his dirty work; releasing the video would put his "good brother" to death.
There was a knock at the door, and the assistant walked into the office.
“Mr. Pei, Shen Xun has already taken Miss Ruan away.”
"When they left the hotel, they encountered Assistant Li, who was sent by Fu Jingchen to pick up Miss Ruan, but he did not stop Shen Xun."
The assistant handed over a USB drive, saying, "This is the CCTV footage from the hotel entrance."
He took the USB drive and plugged it into the computer. The screen instantly showed Ruan Yi struggling, being held tightly by Chen Xun's waist and forcibly stuffed into the car.
Pei Lian narrowed his eyes. "Have all the traces at Shen's contact point been cleaned up?"
"It has been handled properly. There is absolutely no way that the Shen family could have discovered that the person who booked the hotel location for the partner was specially arranged. Shen Xun still thinks it's a coincidence."
Pei Lian nodded slightly, and was about to wave his hand to dismiss his assistant when he seemed to remember something and suddenly spoke.
Where is Fu Wang?
“He was wearing a bulletproof vest, but he suffered a broken rib and is now out of danger. According to our investigation, he has contacted Shen Xun, and the two have the same goal: to put Fu Jingchen in jail.”
Upon hearing this, Pei Lian's smile deepened, and he waved the back of his hand.
"Understood. Clean up the mess and you can go now."
The assistant withdrew, and silence returned to the office. A softly hummed, ancient tune slowly drifted through the air, carrying a chilling air of unwavering determination.
The assistant stepped out of the elevator and walked quickly toward the parking lot. Just as he took out his phone, he saw a missed call and casually pressed the call back button.
He held his phone between his ear and shoulder, freeing one hand to reach for his car keys, and pressed the unlock button on the black sedan not far away.
With a soft "beep," the car lights flashed.
"Hello? What's up? Hello, can you hear me?" the assistant asked twice, but there was only silence on the other end of the phone, with only a faint static sound.
A cold, emotionless voice suddenly came through the receiver, containing only two words: "Turn back."
The hairs on his body stood on end instantly, his steps froze, and his body stiffened like a stone. He didn't dare to turn around and frantically tried to pull open the car door, wanting to get into the car as quickly as possible.
But as soon as he touched the car door handle, a sharp pain suddenly shot through the back of his neck. He had been hit hard, and his vision went black. He passed out, and his phone and car keys fell to the ground with a thud.
A dark figure emerged from behind a nearby pillar.
He was tall and slender, hidden in the dim light of the parking lot, his facial features were completely obscured, and only his high nose bridge could be glimpsed in the shadows.
The man bent down to pick up his assistant's briefcase from the floor, unzipped it, and rummaged through it, his fingertips brushing over several attached documents.
The movements were light and quick, like a silent ghost.
His fingertips gripped the document attachment, a slight smile curving his thin lips, and a low chuckle escaped his throat.
"When the snipe and the clam fight, the fisherman profits?"
The man threw the briefcase back at his assistant and retreated into the darkness.
He only needs to be at the very end...
"Kill a cunning fisherman."
"Sister..."
"No one can break us up, right?"
