Chapter 136 Disgusting Control Freak
Fu Jingchen closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, the turmoil in his eyes had subsided considerably. He took a deep breath and fixed his sharp gaze on Pei Lian.
"You're trying to provoke me."
Pei Lian wouldn't act like this without a reason; this deliberate provocation is highly purposeful.
Pei Lian suddenly dropped his sarcastic tone, changed the subject, and casually rubbed his cuff with his fingertips.
“I didn’t provoke you, I was just stating the facts.” He said, his eyes crinkling into a smile, adding a casual, teasing remark.
"I was just kidding you. Nothing happened between Ruan Yi and me, but you don't need to be so happy yet."
“I did try, but your pettiness…” Pei Lian drawled, his eyes filled with undisguised amusement.
She said that in her heart there was only — Fu, Wang, and Oh.
"Hearing this breaks my heart."
Fu Jingchen's lips tightened instantly, and he was about to retort when Pei Lian interrupted him.
"You don't need to doubt me. Ruan Yi will let you know in some way later, and you will naturally understand then."
He leaned forward, lowering his voice, which carried a hint of seduction.
"As a friend of many years, I'm just giving you a heads-up. Whether you want to continue your 'gentleman's tragedy' is up to you."
Because they had been friends for many years, he knew exactly who Fu Jingchen cared about most and who he disliked most.
The person he hated most stole the person he cared about most. For Fu Jingchen, this was no different from being tortured to death.
Pei Lian straightened up, smiled, took two steps back, and without lingering, turned and slowly left.
As the man's footsteps faded into the distance, Fu Jingchen stood frozen in place, his rationality stretched to its limit.
Does he hate Fu Wang and Zhou Wan? The answer is yes.
That mother and son were the indirect murderers who drove the mother to her death. But before, these two were nothing but worthless ants. The Fu family, which they fought so hard for, was nothing more than a small pie to them.
With his abilities, he could easily crush them, but his principle of not daring to lay a hand on the weak has now become a knife stabbing him.
The ant in his eyes seduced his lover, and even... succeeded?
This thought caused the man to tighten his grip suddenly.
He held a half-cold cup of coffee in his hand, and heard a faint cracking sound coming from the porcelain cup, but he was completely unaware.
Until a crisp sound rang out, the cup shattered completely, and scalding coffee mixed with sharp porcelain shards fell down, leaving less than half of the brown liquid quickly spreading across the table.
The porcelain shard sliced through his palm, drawing blood instantly. The pain spread, and Fu Jingchen snapped back to reality the moment it hit him.
His pupils suddenly contracted when his gaze fell on the broken porcelain shards in his palm.
"This cup is a small token of my appreciation!"
Ruan Yi hadn't been at the company with him during this time, and he inexplicably grabbed the wrong cup once, and then just went with it.
He had intended to reminisce over the familiar warmth of the cup's rim, but unexpectedly, in a moment of loss of control, he crushed it with his own hands.
The usually calm and composed man panicked.
Fu Jingchen subconsciously reached out with trembling hands to pick up the porcelain shards scattered on the table, oblivious to the fact that his skin was being cut again by the sharp edges, his only thought being to collect the fragments.
The shards dug deeper wounds in his palm, and blood gushed out more and more, but no matter how he tried to piece them back together, the sharp fragments could not be restored to their original state.
"The cup is broken, will Xiaoyi be angry...?"
The man stopped what he was doing, clutching the broken porcelain shards tightly in his palm, letting the sharp edges pierce his flesh, the intense pain spreading through his nerves.
He needed the pain to stay awake, and he also needed it to offset the pain in his heart that was even worse than the wound.
Has Ruan Yi really fallen in love with Fu Wang? Will she really confront him? What should she do then...?
Should we let go for her happiness?
Or... could he make Fu Wang disappear completely, just like he did with that "accident" back then?
Horrifying, insane thoughts gradually eroded the man's mind, but the next second, reason suddenly pulled him back.
What if Ruan Yi notices the same thing a second time? If she knows that Fu Wang's death was orchestrated by him, how will she view him?
Will I hate him? Will I completely break ties with him?
If this continues, he'll go crazy.
The man was so engrossed in his struggle that he was completely unaware that the shards of porcelain in his palm were embedding deeper with each unconscious tightening of his grip, and blood was dripping from between his fingers, spreading across the table.
He didn't respond when the door was knocked on.
As soon as the door was gently pushed open and Assistant Li walked in with the documents, his pupils contracted sharply the instant his gaze swept across the desk, and a gasp exploded in surprise: "President Fu! Your hand!"
The man slowly raised his eyes, his gaze somewhat unfocused as he looked at his blood-soaked hands, as if he had just realized the pain.
Assistant Li rushed over and saw the porcelain shards embedded in his palm and the blood gushing out. His face turned pale, and without even asking for instructions, he trembled as he pulled out his phone and dialed the emergency number.
Warm yellow light bathed the soft sofa in the reception room.
Ruan Yi leaned back on the sofa, feeling a headache coming on.
This huge man buried his face in her chest, his tall body curled up, letting down all his guard and holding her tightly.
After she uttered those resolute words, Fu Wang remained silent, only the slight rise and fall of his chest and the occasional tremor betrayed his silent sobbing.
Ruan Yi didn't try to comfort him, but quietly gave him time to process things. However, she didn't expect him to fall silent in her arms and not respond no matter how gently she called him.
It seems that the Anderson family's affairs have exhausted Fu Wang these past few days.
She sighed, thinking that this was the last time anyway, and indulged his tired reaction.
The man's arms were tightly wrapped around her waist, and he rubbed his face against her chest, as if he wanted to embed himself completely into her body, sticking to her tightly, unable to break free at all.
Just then, her phone rang.
Ruan Yi struggled to take out her phone, and as soon as the call connected, Assistant Li's anxious voice came through.
"Assistant Ruan! President Fu injured his hand and is in the hospital now!"
"What?!" Ruan Yi's heart sank suddenly, all her thoughts were instantly disrupted, and she could no longer care about anything else.
She patted Fu Wang's back hard, but he still didn't wake up. In desperation, she could only push Fu Wang to the side of the sofa and squeeze out from under him when his arm loosened.
Ruan Yi squatted down and looked at Fu Wang, who was lying on the sofa with tears still on his handsome face. The tear stains at the corners of the man's eyes glistened under the light.
"Fu Wang... I'm sorry, I'm really sorry."
The girl leaned down and placed a very light kiss on his lips, then stood up and practically stormed out the door.
At that moment, the man on the sofa suddenly opened his eyes. He was not sleepy at all. His eyes were clear, even with a trace of lingering gloom.
He didn't fall asleep at all.
"Bad woman..."
He didn't listen to a word of the girl's seemingly sharp but insincere words.
If Ruan Yi knew what he was thinking, she would definitely regret not having a dog at home when she was a child, otherwise she wouldn't be so naive.
How could a dog stop loving its owner just because it was yelled at a few times?
The phone screen lit up; it was a message Ruan Yi had sent to Fu Wang after getting into the car.
"I have an urgent matter to attend to. I will contact you later regarding the matter of proving something to you. But you need to understand that this is just proof; I have already explained everything else."
The screen was slightly warm from being gripped so tightly. He sneered and muttered to himself, "Using self-harm just to make Ruan Yi go back to see you?"
When Ruan Yigang arrived at the courtyard gate earlier, he noticed that someone was following and taking pictures of him, so he naturally assumed that it was someone sent by Fu Jingchen.
One second they were sending people to track him, and now he's suddenly injured?
Fu Wang's anger intensified, and he couldn't help but mutter, "Disgusting control freak!"
In a hospital ward.
The white light illuminated the man's slightly pale face.
Fu Jingchen's left hand was wrapped in thick gauze, and faint pink oozing out could be seen through the gauze.
The porcelain shard was embedded too deeply, and an IV drip was needed after cleaning to prevent infection. The medication was slowly dripping down the transparent tube.
The man leaned against the hospital bed, his eyes unfocused, until the ward door was suddenly pushed open and Ruan Yi's figure rushed in.
The girl's hair was slightly disheveled, and her forehead was covered in a fine sheen of sweat. As soon as she entered the room, she saw his hand wrapped in gauze and the IV stand by the bed, and her big eyes instantly turned red.
"How did you get hurt? Is it serious? How could you be so careless? Are you stupid? You can even hurt yourself while working overtime at the company!"
The man looked at her trembling fingertips, and a smile suddenly spread across his previously dull eyes, his voice slightly hoarse.
"Yes, that's right."
"You still have time to joke!" Ruan Yi was even angrier, tears welling up in her eyes, but her expression softened a little when she looked at the IV tube.
Without even asking for permission, she reached out and lifted the thin blanket covering the man, then bent down and squeezed into the hospital bed.
The hospital bed wasn't wide to begin with, and when she squeezed in like that, Fu Jingchen immediately moved to the side, with half of his shoulder touching the edge of the bed, afraid that the girl wouldn't have a place to lie down. The next second, her soft arms wrapped around his waist.
With a low chuckle from the man, Ruan Yi buried her face in his chest, her voice muffled, choked with lingering fear.
"Still laughing... I was terrified when I got the call! You didn't tell me right away. If Assistant Li hadn't called, I wouldn't have known until now."
The man listened with his eyes lowered, and the doubts he had felt earlier because of Pei Lian's provocation were gradually being dispelled by the warmth.
Looking at the girl's worried expression, he believed that nothing would happen between her and Fu Wangzhen. He swallowed hard, but instead of responding to her worried words, he abruptly said something.
"Xiaoyi, I love you."
Ruan Yi froze, her face instantly turning red. She reached out and pushed his arm, "You're injured and you're still saying these things..."
The girl was too close; her unique fragrance, combined with her warm body temperature, made his body tense.
In front of Ruan Yi, he always seemed to lose control, all his composure vanished, leaving only instinct.
Fu Jingchen's Adam's apple bobbed as he tried to suppress the burning sensation.
"Xiao Yi, did you come from home?"
Ruan Yi's eyes flickered, the guilt lingering in her heart, and in the end she still gave a soft "hmm".
The man remained silent for a moment, his tone revealing no emotion.
"Will you say you love me too?"
"Why are you suddenly being so mushy?" Ruan Yi's ears turned bright red.
"Because I want to hear Xiaoyi say it herself." Fu Jingchen looked into her eyes, his gaze filled with clear seriousness.
"I really, really want to."
Ruan Yi bit her lip, leaned close to his ear, and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear.
"I love you too."
Before she could finish speaking, she quickly bit his lip.
The man's breath hitched. He gripped the back of her neck, leaned down, and kissed her forcefully. As their lips and teeth intertwined, Ruan Yi's body went limp from the kiss, and she whimpered and pushed him away.
"Hmm...why is it like this all of a sudden..."
Fu Jingchen didn't answer, but pressed his forehead against hers, his voice hoarse and deep.
"Xiaoyi, I want it."
"Are you crazy? This is a hospital ward!" Ruan Yi was extremely embarrassed.
"VIP ward, no one will come in."
The man held her hand tightly, gently squeezing her palm. His tone was weak, making it all the more irresistible.
"I'm still a patient. If Xiaoyi gives it to me, I can recover faster."
Looking at the expectation in Fu Jingchen's eyes, Ruan Yi felt a surge of guilt again as she thought about all the mess that had happened that day.
"But...but your hands are injured!"
The man's eyes were dark as he slowly opened his mouth.
"Xiao Yi, get in..."
"Move it for me, okay?"
"Fu Jingchen! I won't..." She was about to explode.
"Ouch... my hand hurts even more..." the man said weakly.
It was late at night when footsteps echoed down the corridor as two nurses carrying medical trays passed by the ward door.
The young nurse frowned and muttered in a low voice.
"Sister, is this room for patients with mental illnesses? What are you doing clapping in a VIP ward so late at night?"
"It was fine at first, but why is it getting louder and louder? It's been going on for almost three hours now!"
The older nurse immediately raised her hand and pressed down on her arm, silently making a "shh" gesture with her lips, and pulled her away quickly, leaving only the sound of fading footsteps.
