Chen Jing practiced Shadow Devouring again, demonstrating all three Dan Realm martial arts he had learned. He felt extremely exhausted, as if he had been reading a dry book for more than ten hours straight. This mental exhaustion made Chen Jing want to do nothing and lie down and space out.
Although the loss of spiritual energy was significant, it was secondary.
"No wonder these are Dan Realm martial arts. Even though I consciously take breaks before using them, the mental burden is still quite heavy. I'm almost at the peak of the Blood Realm."
"Is this something that cultivators at the Core Formation Realm would handle? Once you reach the Core Formation Realm, using these should be much easier."
"With these three martial arts, my combat power hasn't changed qualitatively, but I have more methods and more ways to solve challenges."
Although Chen Jing had previously calculated his spiritual power growth using "noise concealment time," he now realized that this wasn't the correct method. Initially, he thought that mastering all the Blood Realm spiritual energy would allow him to remain invisible for a maximum of seven or eight hours, not exceeding ten hours. However, the spiritual power consumption for noise concealment gradually decreases as cultivation level increases, while Chen Jing's natural spiritual power recovery also accelerates. This meant that the "noise concealment time" spent on martial arts techniques actually increased rather than decreased.
Chen Jing's intuition told him that the sign of Blood Realm Perfection was that the spiritual energy consumption and recovery during the noise invisibility period reached a balance, thus allowing him to use noise invisibility without restriction.
"If we use the Ghost Blade as a measure of spiritual power, one use of the Ghost Blade now consumes the same amount of spiritual power as more than twenty minutes of noise invisibility, and can be used twenty or thirty times. The cost of martial arts such as Shadow Cloak and other Dan Realm techniques is about three times that of the Ghost Blade."
As Chen Jing pondered this, he walked out of the training ground.
The incense had already gone out, so Chen Jing had to feel his way back along the wall, relying on his intuition.
As he moved forward, feeling his way along the wall, Chen Jing was still pondering how these abilities should be coordinated and used together.
In the pitch-black passage, Chen Jing suddenly saw a blinding light in the distance.
Blocking his eyes from the sudden glare, Chen Jing looked toward the source of the light. There stood a swordsman dressed in tattered, shabby clothes, flames burning on his hands.
He happens to be an expert.
"How did you get here?" the expert asked.
Chen Jing looked slightly embarrassed and, for some reason, replied somewhat guiltily, "I... was just taking a walk."
“Perfect timing,” the expert said. “The last location I’m going to introduce is right here. Come with me.”
He then turned around and led Chen Jing back to where he had come from.
Chen Jing followed, puzzled and curious.
After turning the corner and walking through the long corridor, Chen Jing finally saw the end of the darkness, guided by the light of the flame in the expert's hand.
It was a door, a door that seemed to be made of flowing darkness.
The door seemed real in the firelight, while the darkness resembled a stream of water with a fixed path, or bubbles blown into the air. It reflected all sorts of light, as if it contained everything and gave birth to everything. But the darkness itself was so pure, without a trace of impurity.
Upon seeing it, Chen Jing immediately thought of the Dark Gate he had previously entered through the Source of Darkness; the two had a strange similarity.
One exists in reality, while the other resides only in one's own heart.
Chen Jing lost his composure, as if he could hear his heart pounding wildly. He couldn't help but ask, "What, what is this?"
"Come in," the expert said, and went inside first.
As he approached the darkness, it was as if he had entered some strange sea, a sea so black that once he was submerged, the part that had been penetrated could no longer be seen.
Chen Jing followed him inside.
As he stepped through the door, everything before him suddenly became clear.
On that land, a gray, desolate wasteland stretched from the horizon to here, scattered with leafless, withered trees.
In the sky, a magnificent array of moons, radiant with color and light, illuminated the earth. The largest moon was white, so beautiful, like a large, inexplicably luminous pearl on a dark beach. Beside it, hanging high, were other moons of varying colors, orange, gray, and others, like the most dazzling gems, transforming the quiet, secluded night sky into a stunning beauty.
This is the sky of this world, unlike Earth before Chen Jing's transmigration, which only had one moon.
"What a nice view……"
Chen Jing realized that there was no obstruction to the view here; the eerie fog that permeated the ancient Song Dynasty, along with the light, colors, and scenery, were all clearly visible.
"This is the outside world, no, the original night of this world." The expert's voice, full of emotion, came to Chen Jing's ears.
"Is this the outside world?" Chen Jing asked.
He looked at the expert and found that the expert's figure and face seemed to be obscured by a blurry dark shadow, making it difficult to see clearly.
"No, this is a false illusion, not real." The expert shook his head: "We call this place the Dream Realm. The Dream Realm is also the greatest foundation of our guardians."
"Foundation? A world as foundation?" Chen Jing asked in surprise.
"It's not the real world, but a world made of illusion." The expert said, "Come with me, I'll explain it to you slowly on the way."
"The dream world is an imitation of the real world. It is illusory. Even if you die in the dream world, you will only wake up as if from a nightmare. You will not actually die. Similarly, you can bring external objects into the dream world, but in essence, you are carrying replicas of real objects. Even if you use them or they are damaged, the external objects will not suffer any loss."
It's very similar to the situation inside the Dark Portal...
